Chapter Text
On Earth-94B
Peter Parker woke up, he wasn't sure how long he had been here but he knew for sure that he was captured. As he looked at his surroundings he could see he was in some kind of a lab. He also found out his web shooters and entire suit were removed, and he was wearing nothing more than a pair of shorts.
Clearly his captors had good tabs on his status, because they all came rushing along the moment he woke up.
"Spiderman is awake!" a voice called.
"Run the tests, I'll get the machine ready." another voice called.
Peter gulped. He knew this wasn't going to be good. He was restrained, so he couldn't move his limbs. He tried to use his strength but the scientists noticed, and quickly sedated him so that he couldn't fight back.
While knocked out, several tests were conducted on him, before he was put on a stretcher and moved to another room, before being placed in another machine. This was where the scientists were going to execute their grand plan, make a perfect clone of Peter Parker.
"Dr. Octavius, we are ready." one scientist confirmed.
"Excellent."
And with the final order given, the machine was activated.
After some time, Peter woke up. When he did, he could not believe what he saw.
In front of him was a pod that contained a perfect clone of him.
"A clone of me? What is going on here!" Peter wondered.
"Spiderman." A man said from the shadows, It was none other than Otto Octavius.
Peter growled. "Dr. Otto Octavius. I should have known you would be the one behind all this! What are you doing and why do you have a clone of me?"
Otto looked at Peter. "You want to know about the clone? Well. You see, I'll be using this clone to study your powers fully. Once I'm done, this clone is going to be sent outside to replace you as Spiderman."
Peter didn't like the sound of that. "So what does this mean for me then?"
Otto laughed. "Well Peter, I have grand plans for you. You will be given power like you've never had before. But only on one condition, you will be doing as I say!"
I don't care about power! Powers or not, helping people is what I do!" Peter said in defiance.
"Is that so?" Otto said, before he revealed a screen showing Peter's wife Mary Jane and daughter Mayday locked up in what seemed to be another room in the same facility, with Otto's henchmen surrounding them. "Well Peter, here's the deal. If you obey me, they will be spared your fate and we will only be taking you for this experiment, but if you don't obey me then we will be taking all three of you!" he threatened.
Peter clenched his fists in anger, as much as he wanted to fight he knew Otto had him properly cornered. "Fine." he sighed, reluctantly agreeing to obey Otto's orders for his family's sake.
"Good."
And that was the start of Peter's hell. One by one experimentations would be carried out on him. Peter wouldn't know it, but each of them were designed to slowly strip him of his humanity.
This would go for days, then weeks. There was however one person who would be around to witness it all. Ben Reilly, the man who was cloned to be the next Peter Parker.
There were times that he just wanted to listen to his DNA and save his "brother" from his horrible situation. But he never spoke, he knew that if he did he would be silenced.
One day, Peter was taken away to another room and Ben never saw him again. One day, he had the courage to ask.
"What happened to Peter?"
"Peter? He isn't relevant to you anymore!" Otto exclaimed. "Speaking of which, you are all good to go so it's time to release you, so you can finally get out of here!"
Ben was relieved in a way that he didn't have to be there anymore, but the timing of him leaving just as Peter was taken away seemed extremely convenient. With the way Otto had just talked to him, it was as if he was trying to hide something important and he wondered if Otto felt like he knew too much, so he decided to get rid of him.
Either way, Ben knew not to say anything, so he quietly left.
On Earth-928
Ben was at the Spider Society meeting and Miles noticed he seemed to be deep in thought.
"Is everything okay Ben?" Miles asked.
Ben hesitantly answered. "Yeah... Just thinking of my past, again."
Miles was frustrated that Ben said the same thing that he seemed he always does every time he comes to these Spider Society meeting. "You always say that, but you never actually tell us anything!"
"You don't need to know!" Ben snapped back. "Besides it doesn't really matter anyways."
This only made Miles even more intrigued. There is definitely something from Ben's past that he's not willing to tell us. I want to try to understand him more but if he doesn't even tell Miguel, then there's no way he would tell me. He thought.
For now, Miles wasn't going to ask questions.
But it seems like just maybe, Miles might get an idea. Miguel found out about a disturbance happening. "Ben, there's some kind disturbance happening on your world, Earth-94B. I don't know yet what it involves, but we need to go there at once."
Miles gasped. "Ben, isn't that your timeline?"
With a grim expression, Ben nodded. He knew his worst nightmare was about to come true. The extent of his backstory he was so reluctant to tell even his best friends, was about to unravel right in front of them.
"Ben, we better go now." Miguel ordered.
Miles and Peter B. Parker volunteered to come along too. They were equally curious as to what their friend's world and potential backstory would be like.
And so, they prepared to go to Earth-94B. They had no idea what would lie there but one thing was clear, it couldn't be good.
