    Late July, 1988. The air was thick and unmoving, like it had decided no one deserved relief. Eddie Kaspbrak could feel it pressing on his chest as he biked, the sun beating down on the top of his helmet, sweat trickling into the collar of his shirt. He told himself that was all it was—heat, humidity, normal things. Things that happened to normal people.

    He didn’t tell anyone he hadn’t taken his meds. It was the first day he hadn’t, so it didn’t seem too important of a detail to add. He was just paranoid.

    Eddie stops taking all of his medications, despite what his mother has told him. He wanted to see what would happen, he didn't seem to care in the moment. No matter his intentions, nothing happens. He freaks. Richie's there when it happens.
