Summary:

Yumiella's theory that Alicia was another reincarnated person proved correct, but not in the way she expected.

Notes:

The first thing I have to say is that my native language is not English. I'm using Google Translate to do this. Google sometimes uses English words that I don't even know, so if something seems strange, that's the reason.

This idea comes from Kivuntappaja's work on ideas for adoption. He hasn't posted it yet, but he talks about this idea in the comments of chapter nine. His work apparently only has two more chapters; I don't know if he just postponed it or if he discarded the idea altogether.

I just thought, "You know what would be hilarious? Adopting an idea that the guy hasn't even posted yet."

And here we are today.

Chapter 1: Two friends reunite

Reviews of Light Magic and the Hero

Bl4ckH0l3 gave a positive review

It's a great game with a great RPG system, but the romance part gets kind of boring after a while.

Hours played: 3.047,6

Other users' comments on this review:

0t0m3v1ll4n355: How did she manage to play 3.000 hours in a romance game if she doesn't even like romance?!

H3r0sw0rd: I think she only liked the battle system a little bit.

Yumiella Dolkness secretly watched Alicia Enlight from afar. The protagonist of Light Magic and the Hero was in the middle of the game's introductory scene showcasing romantic options.

Yumiella had reincarnated into a great Otome RPG. In her past life, she compulsively played that game. Yumiella saw no problem with any of this; the only strange thing was that she had been reincarnated as the secret villain.

Yumiella had a few years before the main plot began. She spent all that time leveling up as much as possible. It was completely appropriate to say that Yumiella enjoyed the "RPG" aspect of Light Magic and the Hero.

Years passed quickly, and the initial plot point arrived. The school's opening ceremony would begin the next day. The students were already occupying the dormitories.

Yumiella wasn't ignorant; she knew the protagonist could also be reincarnated. The villain Yumiella had a terrible reputation for being too overpowered for the game's ending.

The Light Magic and the Hero fandom accused the creators of artificially increasing the gameplay time. Boss Yumiella only had a good reputation among tryharder players who enjoyed extreme challenges.

All of this led to the fact that if someone else had also reincarnated as Alicia, that person would probably try to get rid of the secret boss as quickly as possible.

Yumiella was watching Alicia for that exact reason. It didn't take long for the protagonist to also reveal herself as a reincarnated being.

But... it happened differently than Yumiella had anticipated.

At first, everything went smoothly. Alicia arrived late when the gates were already closed. Oswald denied her entry but gave her a hint about how she could enter the school using an alternative method.

It was when the blue-haired wizard turned his back and left that things went off the rails. Alicia, who had previously acted perfectly as a kind, innocent, and shy girl, suddenly blushed completely. She covered her cheeks with her hands and let out an adorable little scream that showed all the love of a passionate fan.

Alicia closed her eyes and began massaging her cheeks with her palms. The heroine began to murmur something that made Yumiella regret having a LV 99 audition for the first time in her life.

“Oswald follows the rules so strictly, but he still cares about people. The creators focused so well on his personality. He acts so formal and professional at first, but softens as he gets to know Alicia.”

Yumiella just blinked, unsure how to react. The secret boss only cared about the RPG aspect of the game, so her opinion of the mage was terrible since Oswald spent more time down during battles with his HP bar in the negative than actually attacking.

Yumiella wanted to say she didn't recognize that speech, but she knew someone who said similar things.

“And then we have William treating Alicia like a helpless damsel, even though she’s the likely future saint. He acknowledges Alicia’s strength and determination after she saved his life during a terrible moment in training.”

The current Alicia’s ramblings continued, and the girl expressed more love on her face.

Yumiella didn’t know what to do. To her, William was just an excellent tank that allowed the player enough time to cast massive spells on enemies.

“In the end we have Edwin. Ahh Edwin. At first he seems like a perfect prince, but the drama is that he originally only approached Alicia to convince her to join the fight against the Demon Lord. He has to prove to Alicia, and to himself, that he sees her as more than just a tool.”

After finishing her speech about the three romantic options, Alicia cleared her throat with her fists clenched to her lips and regained all the composure of a “shy, innocent, and gentle girl.” She simply acted normally for the rest of the interaction, not breaking character once.

Yumiella's opinion of Edwin was that he was the strongest and most balanced character on the team. A beautiful combination of physical and magical gameplay.

The secret Boss also admitted to being impressed by Alicia's current acting and emotional display. Yumiella knew firsthand how difficult it was to express emotions and feelings.

From what Yumiella understood, Alicia was a player who quite enjoyed the Otome side of the game. She cited the detailed flaws of the main characters like someone she could talk about the cast for hours.

Alicia really spoke like a fan of the Otome side of the game. Yumiella knew this; she had met someone in the fandom who acted very similarly.

A pang of nostalgia ran through Yumiella's chest. She tried to suppress the memories as much as possible. Yumiella stopped after having an idea.

It was a silly idea, a stupid idea, an absurd idea, an idea too convenient to be true.

Yumiella regained her composure and continued following Alicia. The secret Boss had a little hope in her heart that the idea could prove true.

Light Magic and the Hero Community Help Chat

Bl4ckH0l3: Can someone help me achieve the romantic options in the most efficient and fastest way possible? Relationships with them give important bonuses in battles.

Private conversation between Bl4ckH0l3 and Sup3rn0v4

SUP3n0v4: Hii, I saw your request for help in the community about how to achieve the main characters as quickly as possible. I found it strange that you said you only want the attribute bonuses that the relationships with the characters give, but okay!!!

Sup3n0v4: In exchange, can you help me in battles? I can't farm XP in any way. The continuation of the main story is blocked until I reach higher levels... I haven't even left the basic area yet.

Alicia was practically vibrating with happiness. Obviously, she didn't show it physically. She had to maintain an "innocent commoner" appearance.

She had been reincarnated as the protagonist of Light Magic and the Hero a few years ago. She used that time to learn important skills and, with a lot of mental effort on her part, she had reached level 10.

The RPG part of Light Magic and the Hero was very boring. Bl4ckH0l3 would have loved to be in her place. Alicia quickly shook her head to get rid of those thoughts.

She was walking down the corridors towards the opening ceremony. The love interest introduction event had gone well, maybe she got a little excited at the beginning, but it hadn't been anything special.

It was while she was thinking about how Edwin always stood out more than the others during the dorm scene that Alicia saw it. She stopped completely and stared at the clearly malevolent shadow that was in the middle of the crowd.

Alicia thought about screaming or panicking, but those ideas were dismissed because no one else seemed to panic. Alicia quickly realized that only she could see it.

“This Isekai story was too good to be true.”

Alicia murmured this before deciding to ignore the sinister shadow.

Bl4ckH0l3: I'm happy to help and thank you very much for your help. The interactions with the characters are very boring for me.

Yumiella's idea of a peaceful life was thrown out the window for the second time. The first time because Alicia was also a reincarnated person, the second time because of the level revelation ceremony she would have to perform.

Yumiella carefully observed the characters' levels; they were all normal. Alicia's turn arrived, and the number that appeared was 10...

This caused Yumiella's brain to shut down. Dolkness's body completely paralyzed; other people at the ceremony even thought she had stopped breathing.

When Yumiella's brain started registering her surroundings again, she heard something very interesting.

“That’s a very good level for someone like you, Enlight. You’ll do well in the leveling classes.” An old man, probably the headmaster, made this comment.

Yumiella frowned a 0.3 centimeter at the “someone like you” part. The old man had only praised other nobles by saying things like, “A high level for someone of high rank like you.”

Yumiella was excited about this. She remembered discussing Light Magic and the Hero with other fans. Some preferred the RPG or Otome aspects, while others found the styles well-balanced during gameplay.

Sup3rn0v4 was another player Yumiella always argued with about which part of the game was better. The two tried to convince each other with their own opinions. Needless to say, the argumentative battle always ended in a draw.

Bl4ckH0l3 always argued with Sup3rn0v4 for hours on end. At first, both were driven by their love for the game, but it was undeniable that a friendship had formed.

Yumiella had to get up and head towards the level check when her name was called.

Sup3rn0v4: I'm happy to help and to be helped. I respect your opinion about the intentions with the characters... but—

Alicia heard Yumiella's turn being called. She had tried to find the future villain in the audience, but without success. The protagonist realized that the mysterious and sinister shadow had risen and was going to perform the ceremony.

Alicia let out a tired sigh after realizing the implications of this. The shadow was Yumiella. What could this mean? Was this how the game's heroine had perceived the secret villain from the beginning?

Bl4ckH0l3 would be very annoyed with the treatment her favorite character was receiving.

To say that Alicia was shocked when Yumiella's level was revealed as 99 would be an understatement. First, the heroine was in shock, then she wondered why Yumiella had such a high level, and the last question on her mind was how she had reached that level.

Alicia remembered everything about grinding that Bl4ckH0l3 had insisted on explaining to her. The best dungeon to level up in would be the "Trial of the 4 Elements." All the monsters in that dungeon were water, fire, earth, and air all at once.

The protagonist had light magic. A magic that is strong against the darkness attribute and a great support, but weak against the other 4 elements. Dark attribute dungeons were tutorial dungeons, while the most difficult dungeon was one dedicated to the 4 elements.

Alicia shook her head to go back to thinking about the most important question. Why was Yumiella at such a high level? Alicia didn't remember doing anything to make the butterfly effect so big.

Alicia continued thinking until she remembered that she herself should be at level 1... Could Yumiella be another reincarnated person? Perhaps the level difference was the reason the secret villain seemed like a sinister shadow...

Alicia suddenly had an epiphany and remembered two very important things. The first was the two-player versus mode that was unlocked after defeating Yumiella.

One player played as Alicia and the other as Yumiella. Sup3rn0v4 had only played this mode with Bl4ckH0l3. Bl4ck loved the idea of playing as Yumiella.

The other was a conversation the two users had with each other.

Private text conversation between Sup3rn0v4 and Bl4ckH0l3.

Sup3rn0v4: How is it possible that you've only completed 25% of the game's story and are already at level 60?

Bl4ckH0l3: I found the game's story very boring. The RPG system is pretty cool.

Sup3rn0v4: Considering that the best dungeons are unlocked as you progress through the game, you must have farmed for a few hours. I think you found the RPG system more than cool.

Bl4ckH0l3: That's what I said. If I could, I'd reach level 99 before the story even starts.

That last message from Bl4ckH0l3 made Alicia laugh in real life, even if she didn't want to admit it.

That memory gave Alicia a very dangerous idea. Yumiella could be Bl4ckH0l3. Alicia just hoped the girl would have more social modesty outside of the internet, because otherwise, all of this would be a level 99 disaster.

Private conversation between Bl4ckH0l3 and Sup3rn0v4.

Sup3rn0v4: —and that's why Edwin is the best romantic option.

Bl4ckH0l3: You sent your entire opinion in three different messages because you exceeded the character limit twice?

Sup3rn0v4: I spent an hour and a half typing all this just for this to be your first comment? Why do I still do this?

Bl4ckH0l3: Because I'm the only one willing to read what you wrote and give an opinion?

Sup3rn0v4: Thanks for reminding me, but that was a rhetorical question.

Bl4ckH0l3: Oh. Sorry... I didn't realize.

Yumiella was in a secluded corner during the party. She didn't know that having level 99 could cause so much trouble...

Everyone just assumed she was a lying cheat who faked her level. 99 couldn't be that high a level, right?

If you spend a few hours of your day entering a good dungeon multiple times with the growth amulet, completely alone, it should be enough to reach level 99 in a few months.

Yumiella realized this and was excited to be able to present this idea to the people of that world.

Yumiella was completely isolated in the corner, lost in thought, when someone touched her back. She turned around and saw Alicia.

Enlight was visibly nervous as she tried to talk to her. The two looked at each other and remained silent, Yumiella still taking bites of the candy she had been eating before Alicia arrived.

They must have stayed like that for a few minutes. The situation could be mistaken for a first romantic date; Yumiella remained silent, expressionless, and Alicia could only tremble.

“Hey, black-haired girl.” Someone called Yumiella's attention, breaking the tension between the two girls. It was William who had approached. “I want to know what trick you used to assess the levels. There's no way you could be that strong!”

Yumiella’s mind went blank, not because she was scared or insulted, she just didn’t know what to say. A blue-haired mage was the next to approach.

“Even though I’m not as impulsive as Will, I’m still curious to know how and why you faked such na important ceremony.” Oswaldo had come to give his opinion on the situation. He wouldn’t be the last.

“Yumiella Dolkness, I respect your courage, but your actions aren’t impressive for someone from your family…” Edwin began to talk about Yumiella’s family, whom she didn’t even know. The final villain didn’t understand 70% of what he was saying. Edwin used very complicated words about nobility.

Yumiella realized that the three romantic options were confronting her. It was at that moment that Dolkness remembered that there was a fifth person present in the situation.

Yumiella turned to Alicia to see if the girl was disappointed with the behavior of the romantic options... Alicia was drooling with a huge, uneven smile on her face.

Why was she surprised? Yumiella turned to Alicia and asked the question they had both been avoiding. “Are you a supernova?”

Alicia was surprised and had to snap out of her current state of lovestruck admiration to answer. “Yes, it wouldn’t be incorrect to assume you’re Black Hole?” Yumiella nodded.

The previous tension that had haunted the girls was completely broken by the boys' interruption..

Yumiella remembers they're still there and looks at them. The boys seem to be in an even worse mood for having been ignored. "I'll sort this out so you can deal with your business," Yumiella promises.

The "business" in question was romantic options. Yumiella also had her love for grinding, and she didn't want anyone interrupting her during those moments.

She stands up and looks at the boys. "If you don't believe in my level, wait until class to accuse me of lying." Yumiella looked at the boys with a penetrating gaze and pointed at Alicia. "Enlight came to the corner during the party to isolate herself with me because she was afraid bullies would harass her because of her level."

“A commoner having a higher social standing than most nobles isn’t well-regarded by everyone,” Yumiella continued. “It’s not fair that she misses this whole party because of that.” The villainess had left a distraction for the boys as she began to walk away.

“Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going back to my dormitory.” Yumiella bowed before walking off.

Alicia stood there stunned with admiration for her friend. She vowed to help Yumiella find a romantic partner in the future.

Notes:

First of all, I know that's not how people usually speak via text message. This style was used for the best possible experience for both the reader and the writer.

The Yumiella/Alicia ship is quite strong in the community, but this fic is heavily inspired by my friendship with my best friend, so that couple won't happen.

I know most people don't like Patrick because his scenes are kind of bland and he doesn't have much personality. I'll try to fix this and make the scenes more fun. (Mainly because Alicia will be playing cupid.)

Messages from Bl4ckH0l3 and Sup3rn0v4 will appear throughout the fanfic and sometimes discuss the current topic. If you have any ideas for interaction between these two, please let me know; I might use them if they're funny or at least somewhat in character.

If you notice any errors, please let me know.
