"Yeah. Not camp, just the cabin." Pete shrugs and stuffs another unfolded shirt into his bag. "I'm switching with Baker. You know Baker, right?"
"I'm that bad of a roommate, huh?" Collie says, using a light tone to mask the hurt because, damn, it hurts. He'd still held hope that he could've caught enough of Pete's attention to be viewed as an option. And if not that, he hoped they'd become good friends and spend more time together. But if Pete will be rooming with Garraty now, that hope is dashed. They'll be even more absorbed by each other than before.
Pete laughs. "Naw, compadre, you've been great. It's just better this way. Anyway — Baker. He's an amazing guy. Reminds me of you. You'll get along fine."
