Summary
Lately, when I ran into Duo on the steps outside our dorm, I let him throw an arm around my neck and linger there, even if it made the other people on the street turn and look at us. When he knocked on my door in the middle of the night and pulled me into a bleary-eyed kiss, I didn’t taste alcohol on his breath anymore. When he stared up at me in my bed, his eyes were clear and sober.
And that, I supposed, was why I had allowed him to drag me out of a safe Saturday study night. Because he wasn’t pretending that spending time with me was just a whim of his drug-addled mind anymore. And I wasn’t pretending that I was only humoring him to get him out of my hair faster. So whatever this was between us, it merited pushing down my dislike of parties and strangers and crowded spaces to make Duo happy.
I still wasn’t sure how long I could manage that, however.
Straight-laced Heero feels like a fish out of water at a party his free spirited, not quite boyfriend Duo takes him to.
