Chapter 1: New beginnings

Summary:

Soapy becomes Overlord! She even gets a fancy new ring! And powers but pfftt who cares about that?

I forgot to mention this but chapters 1-14 were written on Google docs before I posted them here. Just wanted to say that because I rapidly posted them on the same day. Anyways #Anti-Ai

After 3 days of the overlord being dead, a new one was finally being chosen. The only downside was that it was randomly selected.There were only a few rules to be an overlord:
You cannot have a criminal record.
You must be over the age of 15.
You must be healthy.
Now, who fits under that criteria? Most people in the town of Redport. Redport is a safe town that has a very low crime rate. But, out of EVERYONE in the world, a 16 year old from Redport was chosen. The only and only:
?- Soapy? Yes, she’s home, but may I ask, who are you?
?- I’m with the state’s Overlord Administration. I assume you’ve heard we’ve been searching for a new overlord since the death of the old overlord?
?- Yes I have but..wait..
?- Soapy got randomly picked to be the overlord, we just need to talk to her down at the station.
?- Uhm… Oh jeez, okay. Let me go grab her, hold tight.
?- Thank you, miss…?
Sink- Sink, you can just call me Sink. No need for the miss stuff, haha..
Sink closes the door and runs to the stairs.
Sink- SOAPY! COME DOWN HERE FOR A SEC!
Soapy perks up and walks downstairs.
Soapy- Yeah, mom?
Sink- There’s no easy way to put this but-
Soapy- Did dad die!?
Sink- ..What?
Soapy- ..Did dad actually die!?
Sink- No, no! Why would you assume- Ah, whatever. You were casted to be the overlord, honey.
Soapy- What. A-are you joking? Y’know I’m bad with jokes.
Sink- I’m not. There’s somebody that wants to talk to you.
Soapy- Cool, cool..COOL! Phew, nothing wrong here..
3DS sniffs at Soapy’s feet and whines slightly. He follows her to the door.
?- Hello, you’re Soapy, correct?
Soapy- Y-yeah..
?- Great, we just need you to come with us down to the station to work some stuff out. Your mother can drive you, if you’d like.
Soapy- Uh..Yes please.
?- Okay, just follow us.
And so, Soapy had become the overlord. Quick and easy, just a few forms to sign and..
Soapy- A ring? Why do I need a ring..?
?- It has a binding magic, it’s made of an indestructible metal that transfers all of the overlords powers to another person. You must always wear it if you want to keep the powers.
Soapy- Oh..Okay.
Soapy- Sink, make sure that ring stays on her finger at all times.
Sink- Okay, I will.
And life was never the same after that.. After becoming Overlord she had powers! Powers..she couldn't quite use.. Exciting stuff, I know.
