The one time that Alex has met their aunts and uncles, they did like them, but they liked Cass the most.
She was quite, but at the same time, Alex learned a lot about her.
Though she didn’t talk much, Alex had already gotten used to that with Percy, and they had even started putting an effort into learning sign for him. It was nice to be able to practice their sign.
It’s what led to Alex and Cass sitting in the living room of the apartment Alex quickly called home, practicing sign language while Percy and Jason had run out.
The plan was to have Cass come that day anyways, but Percy and Jason having to run out just came up was new.
Alex had gotten down the easier signs, now they had started working on harder ones, and Alex was having a hard time with it.
Some of the signs didn’t make sense for what they meant, or it was so close to another sign that when Alex tried translating a sentence, they got the two words mixed up with it.
Cass would just smile gently and correct them, even if it kept happening, Cass was patient with them.
About 3 hours after they left, Percy and Jason came back.
Both Cass and Alex smiled as they got inside, taking off their shoes and jackets before walking over to the couch.
“What have you two been up to?” Jason asked.
“Cass was teaching me some more sign!” Alex said enthusiastically.
Percy huffed out a little laugh, Jason smiled, “oh ya? How far have you gotten?” Jason asked.
“Well, I’ve gotten what Cass says are the easier ones, and I can understand basic sentences, but there are still a lot that confuse me,” Alex said. Percy nodded, “like that for me to,” he said, smiling at Alex.
The group continued talking for a bit longer before Cass signed that she had to go, Alex, Jason and Percy wished her a goodbye as she left their little apartment.
