   Summary

   Michael Afton has never been chosen. He was always the family scapegoat, overlooked and dismissed at every turn. When Vanessa abandons their family and their father’s legacy for Mike Schmidt, Michael becomes obsessed with uncovering what makes Mike so extraordinary. His daily surveillance gradually turns into fixation, though he cannot fully explain why he is so drawn to observe Mike. He is convinced that reaching his sister requires going through Mike, Michael tells himself he is searching for Vanessa but the truth is far more complicated.
