Alfred finds himself forgetting all the stereotypes he's built up in his own head and others. Kiku has a hard time maintaining his character around Alfred. Although this trip was made to rebuild Alfreds image and his relationship with foreigners, they end up worsening both while also tearing at Kikus image.
As the soviet union forms, and Yao is desperate to get Kiku and Alfred off eachother, he pulls strings that will ensure they will never be."
