Chapter Text
It was early one morning when Aiden's father was driving him to school, Aiden was sitting in the front passenger seat next to his father, yapping about some stuff going on with his friends. The truck was so fast that his father couldn’t react in time…
CRASH
Daniel woke up in the wreckage of the car with his son sitting next to him, completely unconscious. Daniel felt for a pulse, it was weak but undeniably there.
Somebody must have seen the crash and called 911 because he heard the wailing of sirens in the distance coming closer and his consciousness started to slip due to blood loss, it all passed in a blur of red and blue lights, one minute he was in his car the next he was in the ambulance next to his son and then in the hospital with doctors telling him his son was in a coma, he broke down right there in the hospital bed.
“Will he be ok?” he said, still sobbing
“We don’t know” the doctor said
That response only made Daniel sob louder and then he received even worse news
“Unfortunately you also have minor brain damage and may never walk again” the doctor said sadly
“How will my son be if he wakes up?” Daniel said, calming down a little bit at the thought of his son waking up
“if he wakes up he will never walk again, we're afraid the damage to his legs is too severe to operate”
The doctor started to walk away as Daniel fell asleep, he woke up the next day and his son’s friends were all there next to his bed, Ash was the first to notice, she walked over and asked “what happened?” in a soft tone
“We were… driving down the highway, from what I can recall we were driving to school when a truck came barrelling down the road directly towards us, i tried swerving but the truck still hit his side, I was knocked out immediately on impact and I think Aiden was too but when I woke up he was unconscious and his pulse was weak” he said as his voice started to shake
“But how did you get here?” she asked delicately
“I… i don’t… know, that part is still very fuzzy” he said, confused
“You may have a concussion” Ashlyn said
“I think the doctors mentioned brain damage” he said sadly
Aiden died 3 days later with his father next to his bed speaking to him softly, begging for him to wake up
