Summary
Alternate title: Mumbo-07. A Mickey-17-inspired retelling of Life Series.
The axe was cool on his neck, and he could feel the breath of the player from how close they were. It stank of blood.
"That's my axe," Mumbo said.
"Yes!" the player exclaimed; in their excitement, they nearly let the axe slip. "Because I'm Mumbo. I'm you! Do you truly not get this? I mean, we have the same brain. You are truly– wasting!– the critical thinking abilities I know you have!"
"Alright, alright!" Mumbo surrendered.
"Do you get it?" the stranger asked. "I really need you to get it."
"You're me," Mumbo echoed. He said it more like a question than a declaration, but the player took it all the same. They leaned back a bit and brought the axe down to rest at their side.
"I'm you," they agreed. "I'm the you after you died to lava. But you didn't die, clearly."
The Watchers Corp production company employs particular methods to produce this series. These methods fly under the radar until Mumbo, believed to be dead at the bottom of a lava lake, is brought back on his red-life to continue playing in Secret Life. Only, the yellow-life Mumbo isn't dead.

Oh my god??? The most creative take on the life series I've literally ever seen?????
Mimbo and Co. ae content creators, but also players if that makes sense. They live on servers and make videos in game etc.
Grian comes up with an idea (the life series), and mumbo is against it in the beginning saying he doesn't need to get a production team involved. He doesn't like producers bc EVO was run by producers, and it led to hrian not being in contact with him for 2 whole years. He urges grian to just do it himself, but grian refuses.
The games start and grian wuickly gets obsessed with the idea. Mumbo joins in last life and, afterward, needs a hiatus from all things grian/hermitcraft-related bc it was awful. Goes away for a bit but comes back.
Joins in secret life wirh the aim to keep grian safe. All going fine and dandy *until* grian's task to make the warden and wither fight... suddenly, mumbo is in lava going yellow to red. And rhen, he drags himself out. Still alive, and still yellow. Except... theres a red version of him already back on the overworld.
Turns out, WatcherCorp have been cloning the players and *making new ones* instead of respawning the originals, so they can keep the bodies and blood from deaths out in the open for max-gore and viewer-interest.
They meet, get confused, argue, bring it to resident-old-player-etho but cant find him and talk to cleo instead who organises and emergency meeting - gets interrupted by grian-etho's task ehich leads to everyone (Jimmy, grian, mumbo) dying at the end of the session.
The rest of the season plays out, and scar ends the games by either killing himself or never dying and living alone on the remains of secret life forever - unclear.
New clones wake up in the watcher-greenroom and realise rhe producers have run for it - grian bawling, saying he never meant for any of this. OTHER new clones wake up in an entirely new world (evo-loot) and grian and mumbo make up.
