The Wolf's Claim

Summary:

Soulmates are what ties two people together for eternity. Once you find your soulmate, there is no loving anyone else. For the Mikaelsons, they find love all throughout their lifetime, but they have never found The One - their soulmate. But when their brother undaggers them in a town called 'Mystic Falls', they find exactly what they've been looking for since they were born.

Klaus Mikaelson finds his soulmate at a decade dance for highschoolers. He's there for the doppelganger, but he stays for his soulmate, his Amara Sommers.

Notes:

The second book in the Soulmate series is finally here!!!!!! This one follows Amara with her journey as Klaus' love interest.

If you haven't read Elijah's book, it's okay. I don't think you need it to read this one, but there will be more books coming out since this is a Mikaelson soulmate series. In the description of this book, it has each character listed of which ones I'm doing a book for, so check that out. If it's posted, it will have the name, if not it will say the character and - not posted.

Anyway, this starts at the episode Klaus gets introduced officially to everyone - The Last Dance just like Elijah's started at Rose.

Chapters will be numbered and if it skips a number it means that number is in a different book. I'll say which one at the end of the last one. They don't have to be read like that, but if you want I'll put which one goes where.

Have fun reading!

Chapters 1-10 are in the first book, A Promise Older Than Time.

Chapter 1: 11. The Last Dance

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Amara Sommers has been raised by her mother her whole life. She's never known a time where her father was in the picture.

Sure, he tried being a dad to her when they moved back so Jenna could be the guardian of Jeremy and Elena, but he wasn't. He just wanted to get Jenna back, and she didn't want that. She had her daughter to think of. And her niece and nephew. He was bad for her then, bad then, too. Amara didn't need that in her life. Especially when he turned vampire.

Her whole life, Amara was raised as a Sommers, not a Gilbert. Because she wasn't a founding family. Until they moved back to Mystic Falls and Amara Sommers turned into Amara Fell, Logan Fell's daughter, a founding family.

She hated it. She wanted out.

And her mother threatened the board that if her daughter was ever forced to participate in Founding family things again, she would- Well, Amara doesn't know what she threatened, but it worked.

Amara's a mama's girl. Always has been. Never an Aunt Miranda's girl or Uncle Grayson's girl, mama's. She will choose her mother over anyone. She's her best friend.

Which is why shopping with her mother for a dress for the dance tonight probably isn't the best.

"Amara, no!" Jenna exclaims, snatching the dress from her. "Not that one. How about this one?"

"It's the exact same dress but in a different color!"

"And it suits you better!"

Amara huffs, snatching the dress from her mother with a glare. "Fine. But if I hate it, I'm choosing the next one."

Jenna smiles, already knowing her daughter will love it.

Amara slides the dress on, looking at herself in the mirror of the changing room, her face falling at the thought in her mind. I love it.

"So?" Jenna calls from the other side of the door.

Amara rolls her eyes, opening the door. "Fine, you were right. I like it."

Jenna smiles. "See? I told you. Now get out of that so I can pay for it and we can go have lunch."

***

Amara and Jenna walk in the school dance, smiling at each other of the music circulating through the gym.

"I'm gonna go find a far wall and avoid Ric!" Jenna shouts so the girl can hear her.

Amara gives her a thumbs up before making her way through the crowd.

She takes a glass of punch from the table before diving back in only to stop at the middle of the crowd. "Alaric, hi."

Amara hisses as her wrist burns, the punch switching to a different hand so she can look at the reason why.

On her wrist is the same symbol as Mia's, her mark connecting her to Elijah.

Her eyes flick up to Alaric, her eyes suspicious as she glances him over. The clothes he's wearing are Ric's, his face is his, but the look on it and his posture isn't.

The cup drops from Amara's hand as she realizes exactly who it is and who she's connected to. "I- I have to go." Her eyes flick down to the punch on the floor for a split second. "Gotta go get napkins to clean this up."

She turns and runs through the crowd to Aisling making out with a girl by the wall, out of her 'dad's' view. "Aisling!"

She startles, turning around from the girl. "Amara! You're back! Hey!"

"Your dad! He's Klaus!"

Aisling's face falls as her fearful eyes flick behind Amara.

"He's behind me, isn't he?" Amara spins to stand next to Aisling, landing on Klaus.

"You know, those marks are a real inconvenience." Klaus says, glaring her down.

"Marks?" Aisling asks, her eyes flicking between them. "Where's my dad?"

"He's fine." Klaus' eyes flick to her. "But you two are going to have to come with me." he takes their arms, gripping them roughly as he drags them into the hall.

"Let us go!" Amara yells.

"I swear to god, I'll stab you!" Aisling threatens.

"You won't." Klaus says. "I'm in your father's body." Then he pushes them into a classroom. "Maddox, deal with them." His eyes flick to the man now holding their arms. "Don't kill them." Then he slams the classroom door, leaving them in the dark.

Amara and Aisling turn around as he lets go with fearful eyes.

"Sorry, girls. This might hurt a little." He puts his fingers to their temples, and their vision goes dark, their bodies falling to the floor.

***

Amara groans, waking up from the sleeping spell, her hand going to her head. "What the fuck?"

"Amara?" Aisling's voice circulates through her ears, her hands landing on her arms.

"Aisling?" Amara's eyes blink open, looking around her surroundings. "Where are we?"

"At my house."

"Why? What happe- Fuck."

Aisling nods. "Yeah."

The door opens and Alaric- Klaus walks in. "Girls, you're awake."

"How did I not know you're not my dad?" Aisling asks, her arms wrapped around Amara's arm.

"Because you have barely talked to your father since I inhabited him. It was pretty simple." He rolls his eyes, walking to the kitchen.

Amar's jaw tightens. "What is this mark?"

Klaus' eyes flick to her as he fixes himself a glass of bourbon. "You don't know?"

"Elijah hasn't told Mia shit. Which by your knowing that a mark would show up means you know about Mia."

"Because he kidnapped Katherine." Aisling sighs. "That's the second voice I heard this morning. Katherine knows about what the mark means. And she told Klaus."

Klaus hums. "You're very smart unlike this bloke." He gestures to himself.

"What happened?" Amara asks. "At the dance?"

"Well, your witch friends are dead." He states flatly before taking a drink.

Amara's eyes widen. "Bonnie and Nova?"

"You bastard!" Aisling tries to rush towards him but Amara holds her back.

"No. We can't do anything, Aisling. That's your dad."

"He would want me to!" But she sits down anyway.

"Yeah, well, the thing is," Amara holds up her wrist to her. "We have no idea what happens if he dies and I have this stupid thing."

Aisling stares at it in shock. "So you have a connection like Mia's to the enemy. The actual one."

Amara nods. "Yeah. And they're plotting to kill him without knowing it could do something to me."

Aisling closes her eyes. "Shit."

Notes:

Next chapter is in the first book.

You can always read it how you want, but I'll put which chapter goes where.
