Chapter Text
"Do you think we really have to be here?" Aisling whispers, leaning over to her friend beside her, or at least who she thinks is her friend. She can't really tell. It's way too dark in the room.
The woman shrugs beside her. "Eve forced me out, so..."
Aisling huffs. "I hate senior prank night."
Senior prank night. The night where Mia Salvatore, one of her best friends, and Aisling Saltzman get to be on their final year of school, leaving Nova Bennett and Amara Sommers behind after they graduate.
Aisling might have only arrived in Mystic Falls with her dad the year before, but they became fast friends. And the other three have been friends since they could remember. Yet Mia and Aisling are graduating before them.
Amara was born a few months after the cutoff date, which lets her be the oldest in her class, but still have to be a grade behind her friends and cousin.
Nova was born two years after her sister, making her sixteen, an angry witch, and the perfect girlfriend for Jeremy Gilbert in her grade. If he realizes what he has.
Aisling Saltzman is just like her father. A vampire hunter. But her looks come from her mother. Her bright red hair, her nose, - as her father likes to point out - and most of all, her ability to be mean even when she doesn't mean to. A resting bitch face is what her friend call it.
Anne Bouchard. Alaric Saltzman's first wife and mother of his one and only daughter. His pride and joy.
Aisling has never known her mother. She left when she was too little to remember. A few weeks old, if she's correct. But her father has always made sure she knows and loves her regardless. Even after her walking out on them.
She hates Anne for leaving them. For leaving her dad. The best one anyone can ask for, really. But every time she says she hates her, Alaric gives her another reason to love her.
As far as she's concerned, she loves and hates her biological mother, but she doesn't need her. Just like she doesn't need her father's second wife, Isobel Flemming.
Isobel had at least faked her death instead of walking out and leaving them with the heartache. But still, they never stopped searching for the reason when there was no body and Alaric had seen the person who had killed her.
Damon Salvatore. Now Alaric's best friend. Or at least was. He's been in a mood lately.
Isobel had apparently asked Damon to turn her after seeking him out. She had done research at Duke for years about vampires. And she had left Aisling and Alaric just like Anne did.
But at least they got the closure on why with Isobel. They never did with Anne.
And just when Aisling thought she might know her mother, Isobel goes and kills herself before she could elaborate.
"I'm sorry for what I did to you, Aisling." Isobel starts. "I never meant to hurt you or your father."
"But you did. And it hurt him more to not know what happened than my mother walking out."
Isobel smiles softly. "Your mother didn't walk out on you, Aisling. She loves you. So much. And Ric. She just had to shape up before she could come back, but it was already too late by then."
Aisling's brows furrow. "What do you mean-"
"I'm sorry, Aisling. For then and what I do in the future." Isobel says. "You were like a daughter to me. It felt nice to have one. I got to experience what it would have been like with Elena." Isobel brushes Aisling's hair behind her ear. "You will always be my daughter, Aisling." And then she disappears.
Isobel. Fucking. Flemming.
Aisling takes after her father, however. For one, she's a hunter like him. Has been for three years. Except he retired when he didn't kill Damon Salvatore and he thinks Aisling did, too, but once a hunter, always a hunter.
And second, Isobel always said she could tell she was her father's daughter. She acts exactly like him. Same stances, actions, wrinkling of their noses, and most of all, their unflinching ability to stand down danger and put a stake through them.
Like father, like daughter.
Aisling's head turns up as the classroom door opens, eyes widening, sucking in a breath, waiting for it all to go to shit.
And when his foot steps on the first trap, setting off all the others that had taken hours to set up, she's proven right.
The light flicks on as they all stand up with groans, glaring at him.
"Asshole!"
"Oh, come on! Seriously!? Do you know how long it took to set all this up!?" Caroline exclaims.
Mia groans. "Come on!"
Matt. Fucking. Donovan.
"Forgot about senior prank night, huh?" Tyler comments.
"Clearly." The sweaty man responds.
"How could you forget? We've only been waiting for this since like freshman year." Caroline says.
"Yeah, Matt. If I'm doing this, you're doing this." Elena gives him a look.
"I'm kinda surprised any of you are doing this."
Tyler throws up his hands in an 'exactly' gesture.
"Caroline's making us." Bonnie says.
"We're about to be seniors. These are the memories that will stay with us forever, and if we don't-"
"Don't create these memories, then what's the point of it all?" Elena finishes.
Aisling snorts. "You have been saying it all summer."
Mia nods. "I just wanted to watch movies with Evie tonight. But noooo."
"Caroline Forbes had to drag us all to the school to 'make memories."
"Go ahead and make fun, I don't care." Caroline holds up her hands, making a face.
"You're all lame. And I've got ten more classrooms to prank." Tyler walks to the door with a bag.
Mia hops off the desk, rushing after him. "I'll help!"
Elena hops off her own after they walk out the door, putting the party popper on the desk and walking after them.
"Hey. Where are you going?" Bonnie asks.
She turns around. "To superglue Alaric's desk shut." She smiles at Caroline who smiles widely back. "I'm making memories."
"I love you!" Caroline calls after her.
Aisling pats Caroline's shoulder as she bounds to the door. "I'm gonna go help Dana in the gym." She smiles at them all, wiggling her brows. "Love you."
Caroline smiles widely at her. "Help Elena to prank your dad!"
"Oh, I already got his room." She holds up her hands with a smile. "First thing in the morning he's getting pranked."
Mia laughs as she walks away.
She walks into the gym, walking right up to Dana. "How can I help?"
"Aisling!" She exclaims with a smile. "Um, just help spread out cups all over. Chad's going around to fill them." She gives her a look. "Your dad's not here, right? We're not gonna get busted?"
She smiles. "Nope. Sound asleep. And he'll have to wash off some paint if he wakes up."
Dana laughs, pushing her along. "You're the best."
"I know, right?" She smiles before grabbing a stack of cups and a scooter, helping the students spread out the small plastic cups they had gathered specifically for this night.
When the gym doors open, a voice sounds through the gym, "Attention, seniors. You have officially been busted. Prank night is over. Head on home."
"Aisling!"
"It wasn't me! My dad's gonna paint splattered all over him when he wakes up!" She objects with a huff, throwing the cups to the floor and standing up.
"You two. I remember you."
"I'm sorry, who are you?" Dana asks.
"Oh, don't worry, I wasn't in my right head last time we met. Lift your foot up, please, Dana. If she drops her foot, Chad, I want you to beat her to death. Understood?"
Aisling turns at the commands, eyes widening at the sight before her. "Shit."
His eyes flick to her with a wicked smirk. "Shit indeed."
"Aisling, run." Elena orders, eyes wide.
"She's not going anywhere."
"Don't, Klaus. You don't have to hurt anybody."
"Oh, come on, love. Of course I do."
Aisling pulls out her stake, eyes hard. "Where's Amara?"
"Oh, she's fine." Klaus waves her off. "Dropped her off at her house like she requested. Safe and sound under her roof with her mother."
Aisling's phone dings and she carefully pulls it out, glancing down at the text.
Got busted.
Heading home to watch movies with Eve.
See you tomorrow.
Klaus snatches the phone from her with a glare. "Now, love. No contact with the outside world."
Her eyes narrow before flicking to Elena. "Mia went home. The students must have dragged her along on the way out."
Elena breathes out a relieved sigh. "Thank god."
Dana whimpers from behind them, trying her best to keep her leg up.
"Keep it up." Klaus encourages.
"Where's Stefan? What'd you do to him?" Elena asks.
"Stefan's on a time-out." Klaus replies, his arms crossed.
The gym doors open, Bonnie and Matt walking in.
Elena's head whips to them. "Bonnie, get out of here!"
"Run!" Aisling shouts.
Klaus speeds behind the witch, making her gasp. "I was wondering when you'd show up. Now we can get started." His flick around. "Where's the other one?"
"She's not a senior." Aisling says. "Nova's only a sophomore. Hence senior prank night."
He hums. "Oh, well. Uh, Dana, why don't you relax? You and Chad sit tight." He turns his attention back to Bonnie. "I assume you're the reason Elena's still walking around alive."
"That's right." Bonnie confirms. "If you wanna blame someone, blame me."
"There's no need for blame, love. Just your witchy interference seems to have caused some undesirable side effects. And since you've caused the problem, I'm gonna have you find the fix."
"Ugh, get off of me." Tyler complains as he gets lunged into the gym by a blonde.
"Hush now." The blonde commands in a sweet voice.
"I'd like you all to meet my sister. Rebekah." Klaus introduces. "Word of warning, she can be quite mean."
"Don't be an ass." She pushes Tyler towards him.
"Leave him alone." Elena commands.
"I'm gonna make this very simple." He guides the werewolf away, turning to them all, their eyes following him. "Every time I attempt to turn a werewolf into a vampire hybrid, they die during the transition. It's quite horrible, actually." He bites into his wrist, forcing it against Tyler's mouth, making him struggle. "I need you to find a way to save my hybrids, Bonnie. And for Tyler's sake-" He places his hand over his mouth. "You better hurry." He snaps his neck, body flying to the floor.
But before he does, Tyler lets out an ear-piercing howl that has everyone wincing.
Aisling lets out a small gasp, her eyes widening at the body.
"What was that?" Bonnie asks, uncovering her ears.
"That was a werewolf howl." Klaus states. "He was calling someone. Someone who'll be coming within the hour to protect their pack." He hums with a wicked smirk. "And I'll get another hybrid."
Her head turns back to her friends, eyes locking with the blonde's, wincing as her wrist burns.
She looks down, finding the same exact mark as the one on Mia Salvatore's wrist.
She looks back up at Rebekah, finding her looking up from her own wrist, a shocked expression on her face. Her eyes close, fingers curling into her hands. "Fuck."
"Nik." Rebekah's head turns to her brother. "It's her. I found them."
Klaus' head whips to the red head as her eyes flutter open, her eyes staying away from her blonde, hand on the mark on her wrist.
He speeds to her, forcing her hand away and watching as the infinity symbol burns down to a faint pink mark. "You."
She growls, stabbing the stake in that hand through his arm, taking several steps back. "Fuck off."
He chuckles, pulling it out and throwing it to the ground. "You didn't really think that would hurt me, did you?"
"No, but I was hoping it'd get you to shut the fuck up."
Klaus speeds to her, lifting her in the air by her neck, making her gasp, clawing at his hand. "Do you want to learn what happens when someone speaks to me that way?" He growls.
"Nik!" Rebekah speeds to them, forcing them apart, Aisling falling to the ground, coughing. "Leave her alone! She's mine!"
Bonnie stares in shock at them. "She's a person! She isn't anyone's!"
Elena helps the girl up, letting her lean against her as she coughs, rubbing her throat.
Rebekah glares at Klaus. "Leave her alone or I'll go after yours." She glares before stomping to the bleachers.
Aisling sits down on the floor by Tyler's body, her eyes on the infinity mark on her wrist. Cause of course she had to have a soulmate. An original soulmate, at that.
Stupid nature.
"He killed him." Matt states.
"He's not dead. Klaus' blood will turn him into a vampire." Elena says.
"And if Bonnie's successful, he'll live through his transition." Klaus speaks, standing up from sitting with his sister and walking back towards them. "Go on, then. Go fetch your grimoires and enchantments and whatnot. I'll hold onto Elena for safe keeping." To make his point, he grabs her arm.
Elena looks at him then to Bonnie, nodding at her.
Bonnie eyes her as she takes Matt's hand. "Come on, Ais."
"She stays." Rebekah speaks up. "Go on."
She glares before turning to Aisling with a questioning look.
Aisling nods. "Go, Bon. I'll be okay. I'm a hunter, remember?" She smiles nervously. "I'll fight until my last breath like my dad taught me to."
Bonnie nods at her before she and Matt rush out.
"So this is the latest doppelganger." Rebekah looks her over. "The original one was much prettier."
"Enough, Rebekah." Klaus orders as Elena gives her a look. "Take the wolf-boy elsewhere, would you?"
"Fine. But I'm taking the girl. I'm not leaving her here for you to torment." She glares at him, giving Elena a smile, before prancing over to Aisling. "Come." She holds out her hand.
Aisling glares at it, then her face, before standing up on her own and stomping out the doors, leaving Rebekah to drag Tyler's body as she chases after her.
"Where's Caroline?" Aisling questions as she stomps through the halls.
"Who?"
She stops, spinning around to glare at her. "The vampire you probably snapped the neck off when you dragged Tyler to the gym."
"Oh, the blonde." Rebekah realizes. "Yes. She's fine. I left her in the hall."
Aisling then spins back around, continuing her pace until she finds Caroline laying on the floor, her neck snapped.
She kneels down beside her, inspecting her to make sure she's still somewhat alive before sliding over to the lockers and leaning her back against them, waiting for her to wake.
Rebekah drops Tyler's body close to Caroline before sitting down on the opposite side of lockers, looking through Aisling's phone she took from her brother. "Cute." She comments.
Aisling's head whips up to her, seeing the phone, and scrambling over to try and grab it.
Rebekah holds it away from her with a smile. "Oh, come on. I'm not doing anything. Just scrolling through pictures."
Aisling huffs, sitting back on the ground and leaning against the same lockers as her this time.
Rebekah goes back to looking through them. "Who's that?" She holds the phone out to her, showing off a picture of Aisling and Alaric from the first day in Mystic Falls.
"I don't need to talk to you." She mumbles, her arms crossed.
"You're my soulmate. I want to get to know you."
Aisling's eyes flick over to her then back to the phone with a sigh. "That's me and my dad. It was our first day here in Mystic Falls last year."
Rebekah hums, scrolling to the next. "And them?"
"The one on the right is Mia, then Amara, and the one next to me is Nova. They're my best friends. Mia's a Salvatore. She's Elijah's soulmate. Nova is Bonnie's sister. She's a sophomore. Dating Elena's brother and probably at their house right now. Amara's- well, if you woke a while ago, you probably already met her."
Rebekah hums. "Amara Sommers. Nik's soulmate. Lied to us about the doppelganger being alive."
Aisling scoffs. "You can't blame her. That's her cousin. The person she loves the most aside from her mom and other cousin. She was never going to tell you."
"Yes, well, Nik already had a soft spot for her. Didn't even try to hurt her or anything when he found out what she was lying about. Just drove here and dropped her off at her house. Not a word."
Aisling hums. "Soulmates are supposed to be your weakness, aren't they?"
"Not necessarily. Nik always thought so. Well, until he met her. I always thought when I met my soulmate, he would stop killing all my lovers and I'd actually get a chance to have a relationship."
"You don't actually expect me to do that."
She scoffs. "Of course not. I wish you would, but I understand you hate my brother. And in turn, me. So, I'll just have to win you over." She gives her a flirty smile before scrolling to the next.
Aisling looks over at the picture. "That one's from the sleepover at the beginning of this year. Caroline was just kidnapped by a pack of wolves, Elijah sent a witch to get her out, and we all went over to a classic sleepover. That was my first one with them. Supposedly, though, they haven't done one in years."
Rebekah hums. "And this woman?"
Aisling swallows at the new picture. "My dad and my mom."
"Where are they now?"
"My dad's asleep at our apartment. And I'm not sure where my mom is. She left when I was a baby. Just walked out on us."
"I'm sorry."
She shrugs. "Never knew her. I hate her, really. For leaving my dad to take care of me. She never came back." She nods to the new picture. "That's Isobel, my dad's second wife. She faked her death so she could be a vampire. It's how we ended up here. My dad saw Damon 'killing' her and we've been searching for him for two years before we found him. Then we found out Isobel was Elena's mom and a vampire."
"That is Jenna, Amara's mom, Elena, Jeremy, me, and my dad. Jenna's the legal guardian of Elena and Jeremy, and my dad and her were dating so we were over at her house a lot. We still are. They got back together over the summer now that Jenna's in the loop of everything. We have that picture hanging up on the mantel at the Gilbert house."
Rebekah hums. "So, your name's Aisling?"
She nods. "Yep."
"That's a pretty..."
She scoffs. "Yeah, it was my grandmother's name. It's been passed down through generations. Even though my dad hates his name, he wanted to continue the tradition my grandmother tried to stop. So he gave me a shit name just like he does. Alaric and Aisling." She chuckles.
Rebekah chuckles, her gaze going to Caroline waking up, speaking to both of them as she says, "We didn't have mobile telephones in my day. Would have made life a whole lot easier, I suppose." She lifts the phone up and takes a picture of herself with a hum.
Aisling snorts. "That would suck."
"Where's Tyler?" Caroline asks groggily, still waking up from her neck being snapped.
"He's dead." Rebekah states, looking over to her. "Ish."
Caroline turns, finding Tyler laying with his back to her, scrambling up to check on him. "What did you do to him?"
"Think of it as he's having a nap. When he wakes up, he'll be a hybrid."
Aisling scoffs. "Yeah, except the fact that when Klaus has tried to make hybrids, they all die. And Bonnie doesn't have a solution yet."
Caroline's head whips up from laying it on Tyler's chest to check his heartbeat. "What!?"
"Ugh, vomit." Rebekah comments on another picture on Aisling's phone. Probably one of Stefan and Elena being all lovey-dovey she took as blackmail.
"Bonnie'll find a way." Aisling promises her. "She always does."
Rebekah zooms in on the picture, eyes locked on the necklace around Elena's neck. "Is that my-?" She scrambles up, showing off the picture to Caroline and Aisling. "Why is that doppelganger bitch wearing my necklace!?"
"Who the hell are you?"
Aisling's head whips up at the new voice, eyes widening. "Trinity, run!"
"You must be the werewolf he called." Rebekah says, hands on her hips.
Her eyes land on Tyler on the floor. "What did you do to my brother?"
Rebekah hums. "Well, that explains the pack loyalty."
She growls, eyes turning yellow. "You're not getting my pack into your weirdo vampire shit."
"Trinity, you need to run." Aisling says, standing up from the ground. "If they kill you, they'll force blood down your throat and turn you into a hybrid. Just like Tyler."
Her eyes snap to Rebekah. "That's what you did to him? You're turning my brother!?"
Rebekah speeds forward, slamming her head against the wall, making her disoriented. She hums. "You're stronger than a normal werewolf. Kind of like a-"
"Alpha?" Trinity answers for her.
Rebekah's lips curl up. "Oh, Nik will be happy about that." Then she speeds forward taking her by her neck and dragging her down the hall to the gym doors.
"Where is she taking Trinity?" Caroline questions with wide eyes.
Aisling swallows. "To Klaus. He's gonna kill her just like he did with Tyler."
"He's gonna turn Trinity into a hybrid? What about her pack?"
She shakes her head. "Hopefully Trinity can keep them safe." She walks to Tyler, squatting down next to him. "Come on. Let's get him to the science classroom. Put him on a desk. It'll be comfier than the floor when he wakes up."
Caroline easily picks him up without her help, following her a few doors down and laying him gently on a desk.
Aisling hops up another one, eyes trained on him as Caroline sits beside him, both waiting for him to wake.
When Rebekah walks back in the room, dropping the werewolf's body as she prances to a chair at the farther end, Aisling jumps down, rushing to her. "Trinity!"
She kneels down, checking her pulse only to find none, bones poking out from her neck. But it's slowly healing just like Tyler's is. She sighs, eyes closing. "She's in transition."
"How can you tell?" Caroline asks, picking her up to lay her on the desk Aisling was just sitting on, the one beside Tyler.
"Her neck." Aisling replies, dragging a chair beside Caroline' and facing it to the older Lockwood. "My dad taught me how to know if someone's dead or turning by just their wound. It depends how they died, though. Tyler and Trinity died by their necks being snapped, so bones would be rearranged and pushing against the skin, but if you pay attention, you can feel their bones healing slowly."
Caroline places her hand on her boyfriend's neck, waiting to feel it. When she does, she gasps, pulling away. "How did he even know that?"
Aisling shrugs. "Just figured it out on his own after trailing vampires for two years. We became experts on dead bodies."
"That's creepy." Caroline gives her a look.
"Helps when you're a hunter."
Tyler suddenly gasps awake, Caroline trying to quiet him. "Where am I? What happened? Is that my sister!?" He scrambles up, running to check over her body. He looks up at them with wide eyes. "She's dead."
Aisling looks at him guilty. "Not exactly."
"Tyler..." Caroline says carefully.
"Don't be shy about it." Rebekah says with a smile.
"What's going on? Why is my sister dead?"
Caroline shakes her head. "Klaus is turning you into a vampire. A hybrid. You're in transition. And when Trinity wakes up, so will she."
Tyler stares at them in shock, his head turning down to his sister on the desk, her chest unmoving.
"Don't leave out the hard part, sweets." Rebekah says. "You'll only survive if your witch is successful. If not - you're pretty much dead."
Caroline walks to Tyler's side. "You're gonna be okay. Okay? It's gonna be okay."
"Don't lie to him, Caroline." Aisling snaps. "He could die."
Rebekah lifts the phone up to look at the clock she had set. "I wonder how she's doing." She turns it around to show them two minutes left. "Tiktok goes the gym clock."
"Just shut up." Aisling snaps with a glare. "Can you be any more insensitive?"
Rebekah flinches, her hand falling back to her side. Being yelled at by the person you've been waiting for your whole life isn't really a nice feeling.
Aisling scoffs, her head tuning back to wait for Trinity to wake up. Good.
Trinity gasps awake after a while, her body lifting up, frantically looking around. "Tyler! Ty!?"
"Trin!" Tyler rushes over to her, helping her off the desk.
"What-" She closes her eyes with a small sigh. "I'm in transition."
"We both are." Tyler confirms. "Caroline says we're just waiting for Bonnie to figure out how we don't die during it."
Trinity's eyes widen. "You're gonna die?"
"Not if Bonnie can figure something out."
"I'm not waiting around for a teenager to figure it out! I need to call my pack. Where's my phone?"
"Oh, you mean this one?" Rebekah waves it around with a wicked smirk. "Just wait, sweets. Nik will figure it out."
Trinity leans against the desk behind her. "A teenager. I'm waiting on a teenager so I don't die." She scoffs. "I need to elect the next Alpha in my place."
Aisling sighs, laying her forehead on the desk. "Bonnie will figure it out, Trinity. She always does."
"And if she doesn't?"
"I'm sure she has Nova on it, too."
"Great. Two teenagers. Like that'll help." She scoffs.
"Enough." Tyler glares at her. "They might be teenagers, but they're witches. They figured out how to kill Klaus, they'll figure out how to keep us alive."
"And who's the one who turned us?"
"I didn't say they succeeded."
She scoffs, turning around to lean on the desk with her forearms. "I should've just stayed with my pack. I should've learned from Mason and Jules' mistake. Never come back to Mystic Falls."
"So you regret it?" Tyler asks. "Coming back here? After everything?"
She sighs, turning to her brother. "Not for you, Ty, no. I came back for you and I've stayed for you, haven't I?"
He nods. "Yeah. I guess you have."
The door opens, Klaus Mikaelson walking in the room. "Well, the verdict's in. The Original Witch says the doppelganger should be dead."
"Does that mean we can kill her?" Rebekah asks hopefully, walking to the middle of the desks.
"No, I'm fairly certain it means the opposite."
"What?" Still, Rebekah pulls Caroline and Aisling towards her, keeping their bodies against hers.
"Call it a hunch." He leans down to the two werewolves leaning against the desk, holding out two vials. "Elena's blood. Drink it."
"No. No, no, no, Tyler don't." Caroline says.
"If he doesn't feed, he'll die anyway, love. They both will. Consider this an experiment." He lowers his voice as they look up at him. "It's okay."
"Do it." Aisling says, eyes worried. "You either try or don't. Wouldn't you rather die trying?"
Trinity turns her head to her, swallowing the lump in her throat.
"For your pack, Trinity. Do it for your pack. They can't lose another Alpha."
When Trinity turns back, she takes the vial held out to her, Tyler following his big sister's lead.
"There we go." Klaus encourages.
Trinity's eyes are narrowed at him as she lifts it to her mouth, breathing out a heavy breath and downing it.
"Good girl."
Trinity sets it back on the desk, Tyler downing his, and before anyone could predict what happens next, Trinity gasps, falling to the floor as she convulses, like she's having a seizure.
Tyler follows after her, blood dribbling from the corner of his mouth, struggling on the floor in pain.
"No." Aisling whispers, shaking her head, trying to get out Rebekah's gasp. She was wrong. They're gonna die.
"No!" Caroline cries, struggling to get out of the older vampire's grip.
The two Lockwood siblings continue to struggle on the ground, Trinity whimpering in pain before her head lifts up, showing off yellow eyes, veins rippling out from underneath her eyes, and her previous werewolf fangs out past the full moon.
When Tyler's head follows, Klaus looks at them with a smile. "Well, that's a good sign."
***
Aisling wraps her arms around her as she walks through town back to her apartment, senior prank night a bust and her mood soured.
Tyler and Trinity are okay - vampires, but okay.
And she didn't even get to fully complete senior prank night with the rest of her classmates.
She blows out a breath, the hair that was in front of her face blowing out then back to its place. "Stupid vampires." She mumbles, kicking her feet.
"Well, now, that's kinda rude. Your soulmate's a vampire."
Aisling huffs, continuing to walk, seeing her apartment building only a block away.
"You're ignoring me."
And just as she said, she ignores her.
"You're not supposed to ignore your soulmate. It's rude."
Rebekah huffs. "Fine. I just came to give you your phone anyway. It's blowing up." She holds it out for her.
Aisling stops, turning to look at her face before she snatches it from her.
A bunch of missed calls from the group chat.
She calls them immediately, ignoring the way Rebekah frowns as she walks away.
"Aisling! We've been so worried about you!" Mia exclaims.
"I'm fine."
"What happened?" Nova asks. "Amara's back, so we assume Klaus did something."
"Oh, he did. He turned Tyler and Trinity into some sort of vampire werewolf hybrids. Trinity is back at her house probably packing up her stuff to go check on her pack. Tyler's probably with Caroline."
"So, they're dead?" Amara asks.
"If you wanna get technical, no. But they are vampires. Oh, and I fucking hate you and Mia so much."
"Why? What happened?"
"Klaus has a sister."
Nova bursts out laughing, already knowing what's coming next. "Oh my god. No way."
Aisling huffs. "She's my fucking soulmate."
