"Magnus," Alec cried in frustration. "Do you have a dollar?"
They had decided to venture out to Italy on what Magnus called, 'Summer Vacation Extravaganza,' but Alec called 'Spontaneous, poorly planned date night.' It's not that Alec wasn't having a good time; he was enjoying himself immensely, but if they had planned the trip, Alec would've suggested maybe not going to Italy in the dead of July. It was hot and humid, and overall miserable outside. But it was Italy, which meant everything was stunning.
However, it was also Italy, which meant you needed to pay to use public restrooms. But, Magnus hadn't allowed for anytime to stop at the banca for Alec to withdraw anything. Which meant he had no cash to gain access to the train station restroom.
"It's called Euro here," Magnus said and handed Alec a coin. Why Magnus had Euro lying about was beyond Alec, but he supposed Magnus was always one portal away from Europe. Which begged the question, "Why are we taking the train?"
"It's romantic!" Magnus reared back in fake offense.
"Maybe an old-fashioned steam engine," Alec conceded, "but I don't see how a high-speed train is overly romantic."
Magnus waved his hand in dismissal, "Just go to the bathroom, Alec, we don't need to miss the train."
"Our train isn't scheduled for another 20 minutes," Alec retorted, but put the Euro in the machine, which opened to allow him in.
"Whatever, Alexander!" Magnus called after him. "We're going to live life as the mundanes do, it's fun, you know!"
Alec couldn't help but chuckle to himself as he walked away. He shouted behind him, "Maybe we should take a plane back to New York then! I bet that would be fun." Alec had never been on a plane, but from the little he knew, international flights were not the definition of "fun." Especially not for Magnus. Before he was out of earshot, he heard Magnus choke on the Fusa Tea he'd bought. "Absolutely not, Alexander!"
Alec grinned to himself. It was a fun, spontaneous, poorly planned date night.
