As Will lay in his bed, carding his fingers through raven curls while basking in the morning sunlight, he felt like he couldn't possibly be any happier.
Vecna had been defeated three months ago, and since then, each day has felt that little bit brighter.
He isn't constantly feeling goosebumps rise on the back of his neck, and isn't constantly plagued with night terrors, well most nights.
One thing that has definitely improved over the past few months is his and Mike's relationship, well improved would be one word to describe it anyway.
He and Mike had been officially dating for the past two months.
Without the looming fear of Vecna over their heads, Mike and Will had been able to share their feelings to one another.
It was one of the happiest days of Will's life, coming close to that one faithful day in kindergarten.
Will was pulled out of his train of thought by the shuffling of the boy currently sprawled across him.
"morning sleepyhead" Will whispered, pressing a soft kiss to his boyfriends crown of curls.
"mhm" Mike grumbled, slowly rising from his place on Will's chest. "hi"
"hi" Will echoed, a smile forming on his face.
Mike craned his neck up from his position and pecked a kiss on Will's lips.
"happy two month anniversary" Mike said, a cheesy grin on his face.
"happy two month anniversary Mike" Will returned, also feeling that cheesy grin growing on his face.
"I can't believe we're going strong for two months and haven't broken up with me" Mike said with a smirk.
"oh, I could never" Will whispered dramatically, earning himself a giggle from the boy squished beside him.
"I'll hold you to that then," Mike decides, turning to face Will, "I'll remind you of this when were old and grey and live alone with like 3 cats or something"
Will also turned to face the boy beside him, cheesy grin returning to his face.
"aw Mike, do you dream of growing old with me, that's sweet"
"I mean, yeah of course I do" Mike responded earnestly. "do you?"
"yeah, mike I do" Will said softly.
"yeah?"
"yeah"
With that, Mike pressed a soft kiss to Wills lips, Will leaning in instantly, sighing into the kiss.
The two stayed kissing for a few moments, until a loud bang from the kitchen made them quickly separate.
Mike chuckled as he saw Will turn his head to see if anyone was trying to enter his room.
He relaxed and let out a sigh when he realised no one was coming.
"how long do you think until we get caught sneaking around?" Will asked as Mike settled back down into his arms.
"I give it at least another two months"
"maybe longer if we stopped hiding away to make out at every time we're with the party" Will said, quietly laughing.
over the past few weeks the two boys may have been sneakily holding hands under blankets during movie nights, or playing footsies under the table at their favourite diner. They also may have been sneaking away to 'get snacks' during those movie nights, while actually going to have a quiet moment to themselves in the bathroom.
Will was surprised they hadn't been caught yet.
"do you think the rest of the party knows, you know, about us?" Mike asked quietly, fingers fiddling with the threads of his, or well Will's, sleep shirt.
"I mean they can be oblivious sometimes, but I don't know, maybe" Will responded, gently grabbing one of Mike's hands to stop him from fidgeting.
"would you have a problem with them knowing?" Will asked carefully, he knew Mike wasn't as comfortable in his sexuality as he was.
"I mean I would like to tell the rest of them at some point, it wasn't so bad when we told El" Mike said, turning his face upwards to look at Will.
They had both decided it would be a good idea to tell El when they got together, to make sure she wasn't uncomfortable with it.
It had went really well, she supported them and promised not to tell anyone until they were ready.
"we could try telling them if you want" Will started, "then we wouldn't have to sneak away as much, but only if your comfortable with it of course"
"yeah, I wouldn't mind" Mike began, rubbing his thumb across Will's knuckles, "but- never mind, its stupid anyways" he mumbled.
Will turned his head down to face Mike, a frown growing on his face.
"what, Mike no, nothing is stupid, don't worry, you can tell me, if you're not ready we can wait, I'll always wait" he said earnestly, bringing Mike's hand up to his mouth and pressing a kiss to it.
"okay," Mike said softly, " I want to tell them, definitely, but I want to kind of do it slow, you know, test the waters"
"yeah, of course" Will agreed
"I also think it would be kind of funny to see how long we could hint at it for them to understand" Mike chuckled, a mischievous grin on his face.
Will sighed and shook his head, but Mike could see a smile growing on his face"
"of course all you can think about is tormenting the party, when you should be thinking about yourself" Will said with a laugh, pressing a kiss to his forehead. "you idiot"
"but you love this idiot" Mike teased.
"yeah I suppose I do"
Mike turned his head to the side to press a kiss to Will's chin.
"so, do you like my plan?"
"I guess it would be funny to see how long it would take for them to figure it out, especially Lucas and Dustin"
"hah" Mike said with a smug smirk, "I knew you loved my stupid plan"
"yeah, but even you agree its stupid so whose the real loser" Will retorted, playfully shoving Mike off of him to stretch his arms.
"whatever" Mike grumbled, also shuffling himself up to stretch, looking at the alarm clock beside the bed and realising it was almost noon.
They two decided they better get out of bed and start the day before someone already started to suspect them, before they had even got to start their mischievous plan.

After a long week of school of exams and projects for the party, Friday night had finally arrived. Their weekly movie night where they binged films and ate a crap load of junk food.
This movie night was the one Mike and Will decided they were going to start hinting to their friends about their relationship.
"are you sure about this?" Will asked as they were laying blankets out in Mike's basement, the designated spot for movie nights. "We can always leave it till another time if your not up to it"
"no, no, I want to do this, trust me" Mike said, reaching over to grab Will's hand from over the couch, "I'm ready, I just can't wait to fuck with these guys" he finished with a grin.
Will tried to look him in the eyes before he burst out laughing.
"what?' Mike asked."What, did I say something wrong?"
"no, no its just-" Will said in between laughs, "you always got to have some ulterior motive don't you"
"hey, what's wrong with a guy having multiple plans all at once, I like to be prepared" Mike said, which earned him a playful shove from Will.
Their banter was cut short by the ringing of the doorbell from upstairs, the first party member of the night arriving.
"okay, lets do this" Will said with a laugh, leading Mike upstairs.
It was about a half an hour later by the time the whole party had arrived and had settled in the cosy basement.
Lucas, El and Max were sprawled across the floor, accompanied by a multitude of blankets.
Will and Dustin sat comfortably on the couch.
Mike flopped down right beside Will, knees knocking as he did, after he put The Goonies VHS, El's choice for the night, into the small TV.
After the movie had been playing for a few minutes, Mike let out a big yawn and stretched his hands up, slowly but smoothly, placing one on top of Will's shoulder.
Will threw a glance his way, with a small smile on his face. the plan was on the go.
Another while had passed, no one making a comment about the two best friends huddled up extremely close on the couch.
"do you think any of them have noticed yet?" Will whispered into Mike's ear, making the hairs on the back of his neck tickle.
"I don't think so" Mike whispered back.
"I mean come on Dustin is literally right beside us, how has he not noticed?" Will continued whispering.
"its Dustin" Mike responded "he's pretty oblivious to be fair"
This comment earned a giggle from Will.
"can you two stop giggling like little girls over there" Max said, turning around from her place on the floor, "some of us are trying to watch a movie" she finished as she threw a piece of popcorn vaguely in Mike's direction.
Will just giggled even more at that.
"sorry we'll be quiet, honest" Will giggled out.
Max just rolled her eyes and turned back around, not commenting on the quite incriminating position the Mike and he were in for supposed 'best friends'.
Will glanced up at Mike who just playfully rolled his eyes "oblivious" he mouthed with a chuckle.
Will shook his head in agreeance, and let his head rest on Mike's shoulder, he may as well get comfortable, he thought to himself, seeing as they were already practically cuddling in front of all their friends who were in complete oblivion, except El, who turned around with a knowing smile when she saw the two.
He also allowed himself to close his eyes for a moment, finding comfort in his boyfriend's warmth.
By the time the movie had finished, Will was fast asleep, practically drooling on Mike's shoulder, Mike didn't mind of course, he actually found it quite adorable.
As the rest of the party started rise from their positions on the floor, Dustin finally paid attention to the two boys sitting across from him.
"damn Will must have been pretty tired" he commented, pointing it out to the rest of the party.
"yeah, he clearly wasn't interested in The Goonies anyways" Max said with a sarcastic sigh.
"do you want us to wake him up for you Mike so you can get up" Lucas asked.
"nah, it's fine" Mike responded looking down at the boy peacefully sleeping on his shoulder "he can crash here for the night"
Lucas just nodded "okay, suit yourself, I would rather not be covered in Will's drool but whatever floats your boat"
Mike rolled his eyes, 'I wonder why I don't mind being here, huh Lucas, do you not question that at all' he thought to himself, but he didn't speak it outloud, instead he just told them they could make their own way out, they have know for years where they keep their spare key anyways.
Once everyone bid their farewells and left his basement, Mike rested his head upon Will's, allowing himself to close his eyes.
'maybe one day they will catch on" Mike thought to himself, as he joined his boyfriend in slumber.

It was a chilly January afternoon and Mike and the party were waiting for Will to arrive at the arcade, one of their token hangout spots that had somehow remained open even through hell breaking lose in Hawkins.
Mike was deep in conversation with Dustin about their recent DND campaign, when he heard the crunch of gravel slowly growing louder and louder by the second.
He looked in the direction of the sound to see Jonathon's car pulling up, as Will still had yet to pass his driving exam, and El did not trust herself to drive.
Mike could practically feel the grin growing on his face as Will stepped out of the car.
Once he and El said goodbye to Jonathan, they made his way over to everyone.
It seemed that Will decided he was going to initiate the plan this time as once he reached Mike he engulfed him in a tight hug, which Mike reciprocated straight away.
"hey" Will whispered into his ears.
"hi" Mike responded as they let go, remembering that the whole party was still there.
None of them seemed to care that much though, even though they never hugged as a greeting, well in front of people anyways. and best friends don't even hug that often.
Dustin seemed to have other opinions on this however.
"hey Will! Where's my hug? c'mere" he said, enthusiastically making his way over to the two.
Mike had to stifle a laugh as Will and Dustin hugged. The shock on Will's face clearly showing that he thought this would do down differently.
He locked eyes with Mike and gave a look with his eyes that said 'can you believe these idiots'
Mike continued to stifle his laughter as the two broke apart.
After the gang had caught up with each other, they made their way into the slightly deserted arcade.
Lucas and Max made a beeline towards the Dig Dug machine, while Dustin and El went straight for the Pac-man machine.
Will and Mike stayed back for a moment.
"their actually idiots, oh my god" Will sighed.
Mike nodded in agreement. "I mean when do we ever hug each other, in public anyways" he added a twinge of frustration in his voice.
"is this not as fun as thought this would be?" Will asked, nudging Mike towards a machine.
"oh it is trust me" Mike said, "just taking longer than expected"
Will looked towards Mike with a grin.
"oh, I have a plan" Will said suddenly
"what is it?" Mike asked intrigued.
"mhm, you'll find out in a few minutes" Will said with a wink, before walking towards the Donkey Kong machine.
Mike followed, of course.
After the two spent a while taking turns at the machine, they decided to make their way over to the Dig Dug machine, which Max and Lucas had just left.
Will turned around to see that Lucas was still close behind the machine, and gave a wink to Mike.
Mike wondered what trick the boy had up his sleeves.
"oh damn it" Will sighed, "I'm all out of quarters, and I really wanted to have a go on at Dig Dug" he said, feeling around in his pocket.
Will turned to face Mike batting his eyelashes at him, like a cute bunny, Mike had thought to himself.
Now he understood Will's plan, and of course it involved robbing Mike out of a few quarters.
"here you go" Mike said, handing Will the remaining quarters in his hand, oh well Will was way better at the game than him anyways.
Lucas saw this exchange and made his way over to the two.
"hey, what about me, I just ran out too" Lucas said, giving Mike a pleading grin.
"no" is all Mike replied, hoping Lucas would take the hint.
"what, why not?" he groaned.
"because he has a favourite" Will smirked.
Mike wrapped his arms around his shoulder, to prove the point, as no one knew this fact anyways.
"oh you little shit" Lucas said.
"what" Mike smirked, "sad you aren't my favourite"
"nah" Lucas said, moving his head as if he was searching for someone. "I already am someone else's favourite so its okay"
and with that he moved away, shouting at Max from across the arcade to lend him a few quarters.
"oh come on max" Mike and Will heard, while they were in fits of giggles.
"so, he knows i'm your favourite" Will began, "he's one step closer at least"
"yeah" Mike shrugged "but I think everyone already knew you were my favourite"
'"true you don't hide it very well"
"yeah" Mike agreed, smiling down at Will.
He quickly grabbed his hand and dragged him into an old storage press that no one really went into.
"hi" Will said as Mike shut the door behind them. "so, you come here often?"
"shut up and kiss me idiot" Mike said, feigning annoyance.
and Will complied, putting his hands around Mike's neck and tugging him into a kiss.
It seemed like it was a lifetime, while also feeling like five seconds before they had to pull away, needing to refill their lungs.
Mike rested his head on Will's shoulder, breathing heavily.
Will carded his fingers through his curly hair, while Mike started leaving trails of kisses along his neck.
"so" Mike began, taking a break from sucking on Will's neck. "how long until at least one of them catches on?"
"not long if you leave any marks, idiot" Will said softly, poking Mike in the side.
"hey, am I not allowed to show my love and affection for my beautiful boyfriend?" Mike whispered into his ear, leaving goosebumps, the good kind, on the back on Will's neck.
"yes, you are" Will whispered back, "but the others are so oblivious they would probably think I've got a secret girlfriend or something" he chuckled.
"bet your secret girlfriend isn't as good of a kisser as me" Mike said with a smirk, going back to leaving kisses along the side of Will's neck.
"calm down, Mike" Will said with a laugh " no need to be jealous of a made up woman"
"I'm not jealous" Mike retorted.
Will just hummed in response.
"anyways, I was thinking of adjusting our plan of trying of hinting our relationship to the others" Will said.
"oh yeah" Mike said, returning his head to rest on Will's shoulder, "what's going on in that pretty head of yours"
Will just sighed at the compliment.
"I was thinking maybe we should be a bit more forward with it ya know" he rambled "like maybe not proper making out in front of them all but you know holding hands, cuddling in front of them more often or-mhm"
His rambling was interrupted with Mike's lips on his.
"I think that's a great plan" he whispered
"I still think they are idiots though and just think we are doing it all platonically, like Dustin earlier" Mike laughed.
"yeah, probably" Will laughed.
He looked up towards the old clock on the wall.
"oh shit, we've been in here for a while, they're probably wondering where we went" Will said, dragging Mike to the door.
"probably think we are platonically hugging like best friends or something like that" Mike teased.
"oh shut up you idiot" Will said with an amused sigh,
pressing a kiss to the tip of his nose before they left.
"come on lets go"
