Sanemi was training his stamina by climbing the mountain where Himejima lived. He climbed up and down three times. When he was about to go back down again, he noticed it was getting really dark, so he decided to stay at Himejima's house.
He knocked on the door and waited for him to open the door, asking politely if he could stay the night, Himejima accepted and let him in. Since he was training, his clothes were dirty, covered in dirt and sweat, so he had to ask for permission to take a quick bath, to which Himejima gladly agreed to.
While Gyomei was cooking dinner, making onigiri, fish and salads, Sanemi was taking a bath, thinking what to do now. It had been a few days since he encountered and tempted that demon girl who was traveling with her brother, trying to figure out how to show the rest of the Hashira why they needed to kill her at all costs. After a while, he got out and quickly ran back inside, since the cold winter wind might make him sick.
When he arrived, Himejima was putting the food on the table, he sat down next to him and both started eating while talking about their fights and coming up with strategies if they ever got to fight together against a demon. Sanemi sat in front of the window and kept staring at the sky, it looked like it might start snowing any second, it was about time anyway.
Himejima startled him by sitting next to him, both were wearing warm clothes, Sanemi's were bigger than him since he borrowed the clothes from Gyomei, and was doing everuthing possible so his skin wouldn't show, since it was really cold, even next to the fireplace.
Himejima heard him grunt, and also heard the clothes fabric shift and his feet and legs touching the floor, slightly moving in his place. He figured his clothes would be way bigger than Sanemi, so he would have difficulty keeping himself properly covered. So, he took a deep breath and lifted Sanemi up, sitting him on his lap and covering both with a blanket, warm and cozy.
Sanemi looked at Himejima's face and blushed heavily, saying that there was no need for him to do that, but he insisted and they stayed like that.
An hour later, while Sanemi still watched the sky, big, sparkling stars shining. They both stood up shortly after, Himejima gave Sanemi the blanket and told him to wrap it around himself, and so he did.
He went outside and kept staring, closing his eyes and letting out a deep breath, next to Sanemi, standing beside him, was Himejima, he was feeling the cold wind run through his fingers, he could feel it in his face, it was a really freezing winter this year. Sanemi started opening his eyes little by little, and then, he noticed, little snowflakes all around them, snow falling from the sky, and a cold yet weirdly comfortable wind that went through both their fingers and face.
Himejima noticed the snow when a snowflake rested on his nose, and told Sanemi that they should go inside, but he stayed there, watching the snow slowly fall to the ground, and admiring the sky and stars.
Gyomei took a deep breath and went back to where Sanemi was, holding his shoulders while the other kept admiring the snow and sky. He closed his eyes and turned around, saying that he was right and walking back to the house.
They sat down on Himejima's futon and Sanemi watched through the window, the snow falling down to the ground, the snowflakes dancing in the air, and the little breeze of wind moving the leaves of the trees. Himejima touched Sanemi's shoulder, catching his attention, he smiled at him and told him that they should sleep already, since they had to wake up early the next morning. Sanemi got comfortable next to Himejima, while he slowly fell asleep next to him. Many minutes later, Sanemi was finally able to fall asleep. They woke up hugging eachother, it was cold.
