It was an average day in Detroit. Midday traffic was bustling, young children played in the streets. In the heart of the city stood a large skyscraper; this was the location of the Detroit branch of Lexington-Xanatos Corporation. Established a decade ago by Alexander Fox Xanatos IV, the company mainly dealt in the manufacturing of the LXM robot line. On the fourth floor of the building was the office of Mr. Xanatos. Outside the office, a stout, portly man of Indian descent with a white streak in his hair waited. He seemed to be anticipating a meeting with Mr. Xanatos. After a few minutes more of waiting, the door opened; a tall, fair skinned man with blond hair wearing a suit and glasses walked out. He adjusted his glasses slightly, facing the other man and addressing him.
"Mr. Isaac Sumdac, is it? Mr. Xanatos will see you now."
"Ah, thank you, Mr..."
"Owen Burnett... charmed."
Isaac Sumdac nodded and thanked Owen again. He entered Alexander Xanatos's office; it was quite spacious, with a large desk at the other side of the room. There sat Alexander Xanatos. He smiled at Sumdac, speaking to him.
"You must be Isaac Sumdac. I've heard much about your work... please, take a seat. We have much to discuss."
Isaac nodded, taking a seat. Alexander spoke again.
"I must say, Mr. Sumdac, I have admired your work in creating automatons for a long time."
"Thank you, Mr. Xanatos."
Alexander nodded. "Your company has almost single-handedly revitalized Detroit's economy. It's quite the feat... but enough with the compliments. Let's talk business. I have a business proposition for you. As you probably know, my company also manufactures robotics. The LXM line, to be exact."
"Yes, go on..."
Alexander frowned slightly. "But... we have been having some financial issues, you see. So, my proposition is a merger."
"A merger?"
"Yes, exactly. I think it would benefit both of us. You save my company, and in turn, you get access to my LXM robots."
Isaac thought about it for a second. "Your offer is kind, Mr. Xanatos, and I'm sorry to hear about how your company is doing, but Sumdac Systems has already been through many mergers in the past..."
"What's stopping another?" Alexander asked. "Of course, if you decline my offer, I won't hold any ill will against you. But it may be difficult to look elsewhere. My first choice was Sumdac Systems."
Isaac thought about it again, sighing. "Alright, then. It's a deal."
Alexander Xanatos smiled, offering Isaac a handshake, which he accepted.
"I knew you would see things my way."
