Chapter Text
Razor has never had a consistent parent in his life. Miss Lisa, who he sees every Tuesday and Wednesday, was the closest he had. She always told him grand stories of his “Papa”. Razor does not know what a Papa is.
About a month ago, a familiar but unknown man came back to Mondstadt. He was greeted with flowers, drinks, and celebrations everywhere. Razor didn’t understand why he was so important, or why this big man was so familiar to him, but nonetheless he didn’t complain when Fischl and Bennett dragged him to see the impressive Knight returning.
“He’s the coolest adventurer ever! He just got back from Nod-Krai! We need to go see him!!” Bennett, who loves adventure- is of course excited for the return of the knight.
“He is a star, but I am enabled to impress the both of thou far more than him. I’m a princess in the moment succeeding everything under the sun!” Fischl, being her usual self, would like to tell stories of her experiences in the immernachtreich.
“Razor…doesn’t know Knight man. Knight like moon? Or Knight like Lisa?” Razor cocks his head to the side while Bennett turns to him, shocked.
“What!? Varka is the Grand Master of the Knights! And its Knights like Miss Lisa and Jean.. I can’t believe you don’t know him!” Bennett is exasperated, now he knows Razor needs to see Varka!
“Razor will go if Bennett want, and Fischl.”
Bennett celebrates while unfortunately Fischl complained about chipping her nail polish, but alas, what will our dear Razor think of the Grand Master?
Bards are lined throughout the streets singing and strumming songs, Drunkards are swaying back and forth in celebration, it seems like everyone in Mondstadt is awaiting the return of the strange man.
Razor is hiding behind a rail while covering his ears, disliking the noise but still trying to pay attention. He breathes deep breaths like Lisa taught him, trying to keep his mind calm. Bennett and Fischl have gone to pickup their order from Good Hunter, so he is awaiting all by himself. Unfortunately for him, loud trumpets sound while Mondstadt gate Knights shout.
“Clear the road for Grand Master Varka, his Calvary, and his Knights!”
Luckily for Razor, the people have calmed down enough for him to lower his hands. He hears the gallop of horses plead as everyone waits intently. But, it doesn’t last long as a blonde haired man gets shouts and cheers when coming through Mondstadt. Razor feels conflicted in his mind. He feels some sort of attachment to this man, but can’t recognize his face. It’s like the can hear his voice, despite never hearing him speak. His thoughts unfortunately end soon with the return of his friends.
“We watching him come through the gates! I’m sorry we left, Razor..” Bennett looks lowly towards the ground and hands Razor the near bloody steak.
“Okay Bennett. Very loud. Horses. Horn sounds! Varka very important I think.” Fortunately, Razors mind is now focused on the steak in the plate on his hands, ready to scarf it down.
“Bennett, surely the Knight would speak to a princess such as I. Allow us to transverse to his way, as I have been alerted to many of townspeople speaking to him.” Fischl inquires to her two common friends.
“What Mein Fraulein means to say, is that she believes Varka would speak to us and that she has seen citizens approach him.” Oz translates for the two. Razor likes Fischl’s fancy speak, he doesn’t understand the worlds but nonetheless he enjoys the sounds of them. They are a bit more effortless in the movement of his mouth and more focused on the movement of breath. Sometimes, when he returns to the forest, he tries to sound them out.
“Good idea, Fischl! Let’s get going now so he isn’t hogged.”
The three and a bird companion scatter to the center of Mondstadt, and end up waiting in a long line to greet Varka. This man, larger than the townspeople, smiles and is nearly giddy with seeing his friends again. He sees people who were toddlers when he left be nearly teenagers, he learns the passing of old friends from old times, he learns of marriages and births, and it seems like everyone is dying to catch up with him.
Finally, they all manage to get to him. Unfortunately, it seems they all sit and stare up at him because none of them thought what to say and stand in awe of him.
Luckily for them, Varka breaks the silence first.
“Amy! Is that you? How are your parents? I remember when they were just married- you sure have gotten taller! And you must be Bennett! I have heard much of you and that wild pyro vision you have, I’m sure you could become a well known adventurer with that power. And-“ he pauses in his tracks when he makes eye contact with Razor.
“Razor? Is that you?”
