    From across the table, Shane caught sight of his daughter’s terrorized expression and leaned over towards his husband. “See? This is why we stop them before it gets this far.”

    Ilya just sighed, exasperated, and stood from his seat. He grabbed Runa as well, wiping her messy mouth with a little cloth. On his way to the kitchen, he tapped Maksim’s shoulder.

    “Come on, you little shit starter, help me scoop the ice cream.”
