Chapter Text
Blaine finds it in a forgotten box in the back of his closet. He’s not entirely sure what he was looking for anymore when he stumbles across it, dust coating the outer of the box, but he’s filled with an overwhelming sense of nostalgia and melancholia as he opens the lid gingerly and peers inside.
There isn’t much in the box; some photos, theatre ticket memorabilia, and a few scraps of paper containing Sam’s artistic endeavours. But what really piques his interest is the phone that lies in the middle- scuffed around the corners with the screen protector curling at the sides.
He picks it up and tries to turn it on- no luck. Of course. It’s been over ten years since he last used this phone. So he stands and heads over to his office desk, rummaging around for a cord and charges the thing.
He waits with bated breath for any signs of life; a minute in, disappointment rushes through him as there aren’t any. He suspected as much as he sets the phone down on the desk and falls back into his chair, not exactly sure why he’s disappointed in not being able to access his old phone.
After all, what could possibly be so important that he didn’t transfer it to his new phone after getting it?
But in the end, it doesn’t matter, because lo and behold, the phone lights up, the battery symbol indicating a charge, and Blaine’s heart races with anticipation as the screen boots to life.
His ears also burn red with something akin to teenage shame as he skips all the memes from Sam, all the double and triple texts from Tina, his sparse conversations with Kurt, and down to the bottom of the message list, clicking on a name that burns like fire to the touch.

Truth is, I do want to go, but I really didn’t expect Kurt to want to go. He’s not the partying type, nor did I think this was his kind of scene.
But I’m really excited to go! I haven’t really had a chance to go out partying when I was in Dalton, and the time that I did go out, I barely remembered it.

Despite how things ended, last night was really fun. I really enjoyed myself and I am truly grateful for it.
But with how things ended, I think I’ve made too much of a fool of myself in front of you and I can’t stand the thought of dragging you into my drama especially since we’ve only just met.
I don’t want to bombard you with my troubles! I’ve put you through too much in this short amount of time... I’d understand if you didn’t want to come to my show tonight with how much of an idiot I am!

But then, even though we were on a call for hours, I didn’t get a single text or missed call from Kurt.
Then I thought I should reach out, but before I knew it, I had to get ready and head off to school!
And then I saw Kurt and I waved but he ignored me, so I think he’s still mad...
So, just feeling a little down.
