Henry can see the recognition in Alex’s eyes and knows there won’t be any lying or pretending here—Alex already knows the truth.
“Does my reputation precede me?” Henry asks, his voice coming out softer than he intended.
“Sort of,” Alex whispers. “But I’m also very perceptive.”
“Hm.”
“Did you have to break his heart?” Alex asks, and there is something kind in his eyes now—almost understanding—which Henry finds preposterous.
There’s no possibility that Alex understands who Henry is, why he has to do the things that he does.
“It’s what I do, I suppose,” Henry tells him, wary of the cracks in the ice ahead of him as he takes another step. “Or haven’t you heard?”
Alex hums, not put off by Henry’s dismissal. “Have you ever considered that it might be a gift to have a heart that’s been broken by you?”

Sebastian’s head fell back against the wall. “I don’t… I’m not the kind of person people fall in love with, Nick. I’m the person they fuck until they’re ready for a relationship. And I’m okay with that. So if Blaine doesn’t want to fuck me–” he broke off with a shuddering gasp, “how long until he realizes that’s all I’m good for?”
