The two hedgehogs fitted against each other like puzzle pieces as they rested on the couch, the white noise of an old movie long forgotten as they snuggled up against each other, purrs and clicks filling the space as Sonic’s tail thumped against the couch with its usual intensity.
“This is so nice, G.U.N’s finally out of our hair, now we can do stuff like this.” Sonic laughed, burying his muzzle into Shadow’s quills, the latter letting out a small laugh as his slightly longer tail moved to twirl around the cobalt’s leg that was draped on the ebony hedgehog’s lap.
“Of course you know they’re not just going to let me stay with you without any problems, you know that right blue?” the ebony hedgehog hummed, lightly combing his fingers through Sonic’s quills, not making the latter's tail wagging any better.
“Well yeah but we’ll be able to handle whatever they throw at us! And Knuckles can probably handle everything on his own if we offer him grapes.” Sonic whispered as the mentioned echidna passed, the warrior having poor hearing if his quills weren't tied up.
The conversation died down as the two went back into burying their muzzles into the other’s quills, Sonic lazily yawning as he checked his phone seeing the time.
10:29 pm
“Hmm, we should go to bed.” The cobalt hedgehog yawned without moving to untangle himself with the other hedgehog, Shadow humming as another click left his chest, his long tail swishing behind him.
“I guess so, I don’t want your parents to be worried about me keeping you up” Shadow whispered, kissing Sonic’s forehead as the two slowly moved to untangle themselves before rising up from the couch, fingers still intertwined as Sonic moved to shut off the TV.
“...Is it alright if I stay with you for the night Shads? I’d like that.” Sonic requested nervously, Shadow staying quiet to think about it before a pulse of chaos energy flashed through Sonic’s body, a mix of blue and orange sparks forming before the two were teleported into Shadow’s room, the scent of coffee and lavender filling Sonic’s senses.
“I would never say no to that, Mi estrella.” Shadow answered, showing a small smile meant only for the cobalt hedgehog as he lightly unlaced their hands, stepping into the closet to be out of view to change into gloves and socks to sleep in, Sonic quickly following suit before Shadow was finished so neither would see each other without gloves or socks.
Sonic’s gaze lingered on the shut door of the room, knowing that Tom and Maddie would 100% prefer if it was open, since Sonic saw they’re logic, they were teenagers in their first relationships, and his comic books and the shows on TV didn’t exactly paint a LIGHT picture on what teens in their first relationship did.
So much to his reluctance he lightly cracked the door open and propped his shoes to keep it open, making sure if anyone looked in they got a clear shot of the bed, a sign of trust for everyone else that lived in the home.
“Ready?” Shadow stepped out from the closet, stretching as he moved to hug the cobalt hedgehog from behind, burying his face into Sonic’s quills as the latter hummed, moving to lightly lean into the touch.
“Yeah, I just needed to prop the door open” Sonic quietly spoke, Shadow humming as the two slowly moved to get into the bed and tangling once again, becoming a pile of blue, black and red quills and fur.
Sonic’s purrs kicked back up as he sighed in content, burying his face into Shadow’s chest fur.
“I love ya Shads.” Sonic whispered, leaning into the gloved hand that moved to lightly thread through his quills, the sensation slowly bringing sleep to the hedgehog.
“I love you too, Mi estrella.” Shadow’s voice grew softer, his own form sleepy as the two slowly drifted off, purrs and clicks replaced with light snores and mumbles.
“Should we wake them up? They’re gonna miss breakfast.” Tails asked Knuckles, the two peering into the “guest” room that had become Shadow’s as they watched their brother sleep peacefully in the ebony hedgehog’s arms.
“No need Fox, the hedgehog and the more impressive hedgehog have earned their rest after their hard fought battle.” Knuckles spoke, managing to keep his voice quiet to not disturb them before using his larger gloved hand to shut the door, the two aliens walking away to leave the two hedgehogs alone, still sleeping peacefully even as sunlight glimmered in from the curtains, painting them in a warm orange glow.
The two didn’t want to bother trying to get up, they didn’t need to.
They had all they thought they needed in their arms, each other.
