Work Text:
A cinema date. With Eddie Munson.
You could almost already hear him nerding out in the theater and everyone shushing him — especially when considering that the movie had one of his favorite actresses playing the main part.
“You do know this movie is almost two and half hours long, right?” you sighed, looking down at the ticket for Aliens in your hand. “I’ve never sat at the cinema for so long. What if I need to use the bathroom?”
“Ripley would want us committed,” Eddie just replied, sitting down on one of the benches in front of the theatre. “What a woman she is.”
You snorted. “You have a crush on Sigourney Weaver?”
“Who wouldn’t?” he replied, shrugging. “Ripley is gorgeous.”
You rolled your eyes. “Am I meant to be jealous?”
He pursed his lips, caressing your shoulder. “Maybe.”
“Well, attempt failed,” you laughed. “Ripley is a fictional character and you can never have her.”
He pouted. “Rude.”
You just smirked, looking up just in time to see a worker walk up and unlock the door and checking tickets as people started swarming in. You stood up with Eddie and handed over the tickets, the guy barely looked at them before already ushering you in. Eddie gently steered you towards your seats — fortunately no one was in the same row as you just yet. As soon as you sat down, you sighed.
“I’ll say it before it happens: if you start narrating or commenting and someone shushes us because of it—”
He laughed. “Oh, I would never. I’ll be too busy admiring Ripley.”
You huffed. “Mm-mhmm.”
He smirked, poking your cheek. “Admit it, you’re a little jealous.”
“No,” you said quickly, but rolled your eyes as Eddie tilted his head. “…maybe a little.”
Eddie grinned, putting an arm around your shoulders and pulling you to lean against him. “Aw, she could never replace you.”
You glanced up at him as lights dimmed in the theatre. “She’d better not.”
“Just as good as the first time I saw it,” Eddie praised as soon as the lights lit up again. “And I was quiet throughout the whole movie.”
You glared down at your popcorn bucket. “Instead you stole all my popcorn while at it. I ate like three or four handfuls and when I went for the fifth, it was already empty.”
“Hey, I paid it for you.”
You glanced at his own bucket, forgotten on the floor. “Yeah, for me, you had your own popcorn but you nearly swallowed the whole bucket within the first ten minutes, and decided to come for my popcorn next.”
He offered you an apolegtic smile. “I’ll make it up to you?”
“How?”
He thought for a moment. “I’ll buy you whatever you want from that café you always like to visit. Isn’t it nearby?”
You nodded. “Yeah, like two streets down.”
“Great,” he replied, slamming his hands on his jeans before standing up and reaching his hand towards you. “Then we’ll go there and I’ll buy you the most amazing cupcake you can ever dream of.”
You rolled your eyes at that announcement, but grabbed his hand anyway and let him lead you out of the theater.
At least this date went a lot smoother than you expected — and Eddie definitely knew how to be a gentleman.
