Chapter 1: Words don't end with blood

Chapter Text

Tommy was excited. It was date night tonight and Tommy had a solid plan in motion. He and Evan had been together for over 8 moths now and he really wanted tonight to go well. Tommy was close to asking his boyfriend if he wanted to move in with him. He would have done already if Evan, his big hearted golden retriever boyfriend, hadn't taken over his best friends lease. Seriously, what that man did for the people he cared for was inspiring to Tommy.

Tommy walked up to the front door with a spring in his step, so excited for tonight that he didn't register anougher car in the driveway. That would have given him some clue as to what he was about to walk into. Evan had told him just to walk in when he arrived, so that's what he did. He wasn't exactly quiet, but with the raised voices of the residents in the kitchen, Tommy doubted any of the two men in the kitchen heared him. He was about to call out when he heard it, making his blood go cold

"..tribulations of Evan buckley, a tragedy in 97 acts"

What the hell, Tommy thought. Was Eddie seriously using Evans traumas against him right now

" you have been spiralling since the funeral, and no one knows how to talk to you"

"I'm sorry I'm sad Bobby is dead"

Tommy felt his heart shattering into a million pieces at that. His poor boy sounded so lost and heart broken. What he wouldn't give to take that pain away. Tommy should let them know he is here, Evan was expecting him after all, but he couldn't bring himself to walk in yet, something told him this was going to go south very fast, but he didn't want to make Evan feel like he couldn't fight his own battles. Tommy would always be there for him, but sometimes he needed to stand his ground and stand up for himself. However that thought went straight out the window the very next second. Before Tommy knew what was happening, he heard a sickening thud, and Evan grunt. Dropping his bag where he stood, he quickly made his way into the kitchen, audibly gasping at what he saw. Eddie had Evan, his Evan, his ray of sunshine, pinned up against the side, finger so close to Evans face that one more inch he would have poked him in the eye.

"Your not the only one who lost him". That was all Eddie could get out before he was been forcibly dragged away from his so called best friends and bodily dragged to the other side of the kitchen. Tommy was quick to leave him there and move over to Evan, who was looking so shocked and scared that it made the fury burning in Tommy's soul crack up like 3 or 4 notches. If it wasn't for the fact that Evan moved at the same time he did, and buried himself in his arms with his head tucked beneath Tommy's chin, then Tommy would have turned to Eddie and let that fury loose. However Evan was more important right now and his boyfriend was seeking comfort in Tommy's arms, and he sure as hell wasn't going to refuse him comfort right now.

"What the hell is going on here" Tommy said, working hard to keep his voice level and even so as not to scare the man in his arms anymore then he already was. "What the hell do you think your doing Eddie. Make you feel big and hard pinning him like that did it. Make you feel like a big man?" Tommy was going to say more but Evan begin trembling in his arms. Tommy wasn't sure if it was the adrenaline of the argument between him and Eddie wearing off, or the argument between Tommy and Eddie that they could all feel building. Tommy didn't want an argument infront of Evan right now, Evan was currently in a very fragile state of mind, and Tommy still didn't know what that sickening thud was. Tommy wrapped his arms tighter around Evan, offering whatever comfort the other man was seeking.

Eddie scoffed from the other side of the kitchen, where Tommy had left him. " we was just talking, that's all"

Tommy's hand made it to the back of Evans head. One thing Tommy knew about his boyfriend is that when he is seeking comfort he likes to have a hand on the back of his head and a hand on his lower back. It made him feel secure , like no part of him could fall, because he was supported in the best way possible. However, this time when Tommy put his hand there, he felt something warm and sticky. Slowly pulling his hand away, extracting a slight wine from Evan, Tommy was shocked to see his hand come away red. Panicking, Tommy moved Evan so he could turn him around and see the damage. Tommy had a sinking feeling he just figured out what the sickening thud was. Looking up at Eddie, who had the decency to looked scared himself, Tommy held his hand out in view of the other man.

"Talking doesn't end in blood, what the hell Eddie." Tommy was getting angry now. Having an argument is one thing, but he will not stand for anyone causing harm to the man he loves. "Evan, where did you put your first aid kit?"

Evan was shaking like a leaf now, the pain starting now that the adrenaline was wearing of and the injury had been noticed. He looked at Tommy with wide, scared eyes, then side eyed Eddie, hoping his boyfriend got the hint of what he couldn't say right now. Eddie was still stood stock still, like he couldn't believe what he had done. They all knew Eddie wasn't normally violent towards his best friend, but grief has a way of making people act out of the ordinary.

Tommy nodded, knowing what his partner was asking. He looked at the other man and took a deep breath. He couldn't get angry now. Evan needed him more then Tommy needed to let Eddie have it for what he had done.

"Eddie, I need you to listen to me and listen good. Go for a walk, don't come back for at least an hour. You got me" Tommy held Eddie's eye contact, daring the other man to argue with him. To his relief, Eddie just nodded and walked out. They waiting a minute until they heard the front door slam shut.

" OK baby" Tommy said "I'm going to get the first aid kit, then when I have checked your head and bandaged it up, I'm going to pack you a bag for at least a week, take you to the emergency room and then your Coming home with me. Ok?"

Evan didn't say anything, just nodded at the older man. Tommy looked at him, waiting for Evans eyes to land on him.

"Where's your first aid kit, baby?"

Evan just pointed at the cupboard under the sink. Knowing that his boyfriend was beyond words right now, Tommy handed him a notebook and pen that Evan always kept on the side for jotting things down "I want you to make a list of everything you will need and want to take with you. Then I will get it all for you while you stay sat here, have a drink of water and wait for me, ok?"

Abougher nod. Tommy hated seeing his man like this. The ray of sunshine, always full of energy, eager to please, man that would do anything for anyone, even to his own detriment. Dropping a kiss on to his forehead, Tommy got up to get to work, and Evan made his list.

-----------------BT-----------------

Finally getting to Tommy's after hours in the emergency room, Tommy could feel the other man lagging. Evan had needed a couple of stitches, but luckily didn't have a concussion. He would have a slight headache for a while though and would be sore in that spot for a couple of days, but it could have been worse.

Tommy settled Evan down in his bed, making sure his head was cushioned. Grabbing his phone, out of his pocket, Tommy walked back through to the kitchen to get Evan some water and painkillers, but also to see why his phone was going off like crazy, without it disturbing the injured man.

Tommy was not shocked to see that he had a few messages from Eddie. Rather then text back, Tommy just called him instead. Easier to get this conversation over and done with.

"Tommy, hey" Eddie didn't waste much time with the pleasantries. "Listen, when I went for a walk I ended up at the station, so long story short, I have accepted a role back here and I need my house back, I have already spoken to Christopher and he has agreed to come home at the weekend, so I'm going to texas tonight to pack up my house there and get it on the market already, so I need Evan out my house by then"

Tommy was steaming "are you for real right now. It's already Wednesday, that's not even 3 days notice."

"Well what can I say, I start work again in a month and I want to be in a nd settled by then" Eddie was apparently over his guilt of injuring Evan and planned to make his life a living hell. "Plus Christopher needs a place to live"

" you know what Eddie, don't worry about it, I will sort it, Evan will be out by the weekend. But while I have you on the phone, simply for what you have done to Evan and doing to him now, you can loose my number. We are no longer friends, and I would be surprised if Evan wanted to be friends with you to after this"

Eddie scoffed at the other end of the line. "Well BUCK needs to know life doesn't revolve around him"

Taking a deep breath, Tommy simply said "goodbye Eddie" and put the phone down. He had to talk to Evan about what Eddie had said and if he wanted to move in with him, but first he had a call to make.

The phone rang three times before it connected at the other end

"T, long time my friend, what do you need"

Tommy looked in the direction of the bedroom.

"I need a favour"
