Max has had a difficult childhood. And one day, it was just too much. And so he ran. He ran far away to where no one would ever be able to ever connect him with Max Verstappen. But that doesn't mean he ever gave up on F1. He just needs a slightly different way to get there…
This is a redo of my previous work ‘Flying Through The Years’ so some storylines might seem a bit similar!

Max lived a quiet and calm life as a teacher in Nice. Happily married to his high school sweetheart, two charming toddlers and a baby on the way. It's not the most luxurious life, but he's doing okay, yet the arrival of a legal letter demanding him to be in Monaco at 7AM might change his perspective about his whole life.
Sometimes the truth comes late, but it is revealed at the end at least, no?

"Let me make this clear, Sonny,” Leclerc spat his name mockingly, voice dropping lower, his accent becoming thicker, “you’re only on this grid because your friend is an idiot with too much money. You don’t have the skill to be one of us, and so you’ve turned to reckless idiocy as your only strategy. I don’t care what you do in last place, because it’s where you belong and you’re away from everyone else, but if you even think about going after Max again?”
Leclerc leaned closer, his green eyes blazing as his voice dropped to a cold whisper. “I’m going to make you regret ever coming back here. You think the media hates you now? You think it’s bad now?” He laughed cruelly. “You won’t be able to leave the damn bathroom without being attacked. Your name will be dragged so thoroughly through the mud that no racing team will accept you. You’ll never race again, professionally or recreationally. Anywhere.”Or:
Sonny Hayes thought he had figured out everything in F1, including Max Verstappen. He had not figured out Charles Leclerc, Scuderia Ferrari racing driver.
He learns that the hard way.

“This is all your fault,” Charles snapped, exasperation dripping from his tone. “How on earth do you fail to mention that your family is filthy rich, Max? That’s just not acceptable!”
Max sighed, his lips twitching upward in mild amusement despite the tension. “I wasn’t the one who wanted to come, and why does it matter to you if they were filthy rich or dirt poor?” he said, “They are trash anyway” he muttered under his breath. “Besides For this Christmas I wanted to travel somewhere warm and stress-free before you give birth.”
Or After all Max's effort to keep his family away from his mate, they manage to slither their way back into his life.
