Chapter Text
Killua, Gon, and Alluka made their way up the mountain maintaining their focus only on their entertaining conversation. As they ascended closer to their destination Killua stopped.
“This is as far as we go..” Killua blurts out, a small grin plastered on his face
Gon turned to face Killua, smiling carelessly,
”Am!”
He puts his fist up in conviction,
“Just remember, we will always be friends!”
“Mm!”
As both boys make their way towards their own paths, a new beginning was starting as one door began to close. As they turned, feelings that were built up from the moment they scaled the mountain to their final goodbyes began to flow. Both knowing they will long for the time that door was still accessible. Yet, closed doors can always be reopened.
~~~
Killua!
Hearing his name being called from behind he swerves his head in anticipation. A familiar tone ringing in his ear making his heart swell. The silhouette of someone dear closing in on him,
Killua !!
He reaches out, ready to catch the embrace awaiting him, with arms stretching out wide.
Go-
KILLUAA !!!
Killua jolted awake, sitting up from his desk and keyboard dazed and out of his ‘short’ power nap.
“Are you insane! The paperwork was due an hour ago and I find you here sleeping!”
One of Kill’s coworker, who was rightfully pissed because that paperwork that was due was a team effort.
Killua shook himself out of his lightheaded-ness
“An hour!? No way I was only supposed to take a nap for 5 minutes! shit shit shit…”
Killua started to type away at his desk as fast as his fingers could move. Stupid idiot… dreaming about things that happened 7 years ago…
~~~
Absolutely exhausted from his day at work, he reaches for his pocket. Fumbling around as he grasps for his solution to relaxation in the form of a house key. Finally having them in his hands he unlocks the door, where he’s pelted by a big, unannounced hug,
“Welcome home big brother!!” Alluka hummed, happy that she gets to see him after a long day of real life school.
After 7 years Killua had built a good life for him and his sister. When he left the Zoldyck household, it took a lot to shake his family off his tail, he was notified by Canary that his mother ordered people to follow them.
That didn’t last long when they kept disappearing one after another. Day after day some sort of ploy was created in order to keep tabs on them, until one day it stopped. After that he became restless but later was informed by Canary that the search for them was called off.
Once it hit a year of stillness from being watched he finally eased up, Killua knew he needed to make sure Alluka was taken care of so, he got his first job ever at a restaurant. From there everything fell into place, now he has a good paying job with a nice house, even Alluka can go to school like a normal girl with a regular, normal life.
Killua smiled, patting the young girls head softly, “Hey Alluka, how was school?”
Alluka beamed a bright smile up at him, “It was great! Today in history we talked about ssuuper old hunters and what they accomplished, so cool! And for health class we..~”
Killua chuckled to himself, asking her about anything she’s done in school always got her excited, at least that was one good thing he did for her.
~~~
It was about to hit midnight and everything was quiet, that was one thing he loved about the neighborhood.
The countryside just south from York New City was a perfect location, it wasn’t the most known area, yet wasn’t too far from the City itself, and the stark differences between the noise going to and from work was astonishing. Finishing up cleaning the kitchen after dinner, he headed upstairs towards his bedroom.
Sigh,, I can finally close my eyes, the best time of the day hehe..
He took the time to let out a big yawn, letting his weariness consume him as he inched closer to the bedroom door
CLASH , Bang ,, thud
Killua stopped in his tracks, it’s been years since he’s had to use his nen, but even if he was tired, there’s no way he wouldn’t have been able to detect another presence in his own home.
The back of his hairs stood up, he knew this day would come but for it to be so soon. He thought he would have had more time to prepare.
He carefully made his way to the door, powering up his aura as he approached the handle… He swung open the door full force ready for them to pounce right as he barged through,
but that wasn’t the scene that was presented to him when he opened up the door. There laid a beaten body of similar stature he’s seen one to many times in his thoughts, now a bit older and taller then his previous memories, but Killua will never forget the face he’d once cherished.
“G..Gon!?”
