AITA for killing my crush's sister and then him?
Names changed for privacy reasons. I (M36) am currently in a serious conflict with my crush, S (M27). For context, our world operates under a system where people can be trapped in fabricated dream states. His sister was one of them. I was assigned a mission that required killing her. Not out of malice, but because death was the only way to wake her from the false dream she was imprisoned in. I knew how it would look, and I knew it would hurt him, but I carried it out anyway because the mission demanded it. Later, I visited his home to explain myself. Things went downhill fast. His estate is basically a maze of corridors and traps, the kind of place that screams paranoia. I made a comment about it, trying to defuse the tension with humor. He fired back by accusing me of being connected to a killer terrorizing the area. That escalated quickly. I told him he was being irrational. I pointed out that his attention was misplaced and that there were much bigger threats destabilizing the city. That was when he revealed he had been watching everything. He admitted he let chaos spread on purpose so he could draw out the real culprit. Me. He laid it all out. Every detail of my identity. My appearance. My habits. He accused me of constructing my entire existence by stealing fragments from dozens of loyal family members, stitching them together into a perfect disguise. He said my identity was a lie. I didn’t deny it. He demanded to know one thing: why I killed his sister. I told him the truth. That in moments of chaos, people miss the truth even as it burns them. That fate played a cruel joke on all of us. It wasn’t an answer he wanted. Then I killed him. soooo AITA?

I didn’t expect this to get as much attention as it did. I also didn’t expect so many people to fixate on the word killed. A few clarifications. His sister isn't dead. She just woke up from the fake dream and she agreed to join the cause, we are friends now, it's all good guys. As for him, he's still angry with me because I didn't tell him about the plan beforehand. I don't know how to even begin to tell him how that wouldn't have worked, and I really just want my birdie back. How do I apologize to him properly.

UPDATE
Hello everyone. It's been a few weeks since my last edit. I would like to tell you all that S and I are talking again and I apologized and sat him down after he was ready. Big thank you to u/bugabooheh for suggesting that I leave him alone for a while. It really helped. Anyway so the problem now is that I really want to confess to him, and I'm not sure how I should do that? Should I just blurt it out randomly? Should I make a mood first by giving him flowers?? Help a guy out please.

UPDATE (probably the last one): I confessed and almost messed it up
Hey everyone. It’s me again. So I followed most of the advice here. I didn’t say it randomly, I didn’t make a big speech, and I didn’t bring up anything weird or heavy. I bought flowers. Regular flowers. I double-checked they didn’t mean anything bad. We sat down and talked. Then it got really quiet, and I got nervous. I panicked a little and just said, “I like you.” Then I added, “I mean, I like you in a serious way.” Which was probably unnecessary. He just stared at me for a bit and I thought I completely ruined it. Then I started rambling and trying to explain myself, why I’m bad at communication, all of that. He stopped me and said. “Are you asking me out or are you just listing your flaws?” I said I was asking him out. There was another pause and I was convinced this was it. Then he laughed and said, “You could’ve just said that, you know.” So… yeah. We’re together now. I don’t really know how it worked, but it did. Thanks to everyone who gave advice (and told me to shut up, which helped more than you think).
