Work Text:
Floating was a strange sensation, one all the low-grav practice flights in the world could not prepare you for. Occasionally, we would brush past the other in the small spacecraft, murmuring half-hearted apologies in our clunky suits. We both watched as the Earth spun slowly beneath us, the dazzling greens, blues, and whites lurching past like a lost Van Gogh. CAPCOM was out of range, and the vacuum of space screamed its silence, broken only by our heady breaths.
John gazed out the window, sextant in hand, focused on his task.
And I saw the starlight dancing in his eyes.
