Sausage laughed, bounding after Kitty on the already barely stable trees, let alone with the weight of two adults on them.
"Watch out, mage, or you'll have to resurrect yourself…" Bek called out from behind him, where she was walking at a far more normal pace than the other two. She could trust Kitty, them being a rouge and most likely way more skilled at this than Sausage would be.
The necromancer didn't seem to particularly care, still hopping across the branches. "I- I can do that, don't worry, I've done it before!" He called out, still not sparing a glance. He said it like it was the most normal thing in the world, like it wasn't weird to have revived yourself.
Bek, still following, seemed confused, and slightly concerned. "What? What do you mean, you've done it before-?!"
He had slowed down slightly by then, maneuvering some of the more difficult parts of the treetops. "Well- Well, there was an incident a couple years back, ehm," he mumbled. Some of the souls started paying attention to his words more, pausing their conversation to hear him speak. He could hear a couple souls cheering, "Lore," what the newer ones would always do if they discovered something new about the man. "Y-you weren't here, I- you weren't around, really." He climbed down from the treetops, moving to walk alongside Bek. "I- I did perish, for a- a good bit-"
"You perished-?!"
"I- It was just a couple hours-"
"You had to get reanimated-?!"
"J-just a couple hours-! It was for an…experiment..?"

There was a surprising lack of documents and texts on necromancy, Sausage had found. And there wasn't many people that Sausage could learn from either.
So, if he wanted to know if it was possible to revive himself, y'know, the next best way to learn was from personal experience.
After visiting his local Shady Person from the dark alleyway in town, he had gotten himself a wonderful bottle of cyanide. It might've not been illegal, but it was fairly cheap, and Sausage didn't care too much.
Sitting down on his bed, making sure the doors were all locked, windows shut- because this couldn't go wrong, and he wouldn't need help, not like there was really anyone around to help- and he held the bottle tight in his hands. No going back now, he thought, uncapping the bottle- smelled like nothing- and taking a swig- tasted like nothing. He quickly rushed to put the cork back on and putting it off to the side, right as the flash of dizziness and nausea set in. His chest tightened, and squeezed his eyes shut as unconsciousness- or was it death?- overtook him.

Sausage thought this was death.
Suprisingly, it felt fairly warm, comforting, maybe? Opening his eyes, all he could see was darkness. And himself, his mage outfit, his staff, and his Necronomicon. Point was, his surroundings were a void. He fumbled through the book, looking for the spell to revive him. If he did find it, would it even work? The stupidity of the situation he had put himself in just now seemed to set in.
As he flipped to the page with the revival spell, he felt a presence looming above him.
"Hello."
This was Death, wasn't it?
"It is not your time yet to die, dear necromancer. Come back later. You'll know when. I will see you soon, but not under the circumstances you expect."
"Wh- W-wait, I-!"
And then he was alone. His mouth gaped, before he looked down. He decided it was better to be alive than gawk. He began to focus on the spell, casting it with shaky hands and a shaky voice.

Consciousness came back rushing through Sausage's mind, eyes snapping open as he shot up. He felt…fine, surprisingly. He tensed, hands bracing himself on the bed as a flood of voices came circling around him. He looked around, seeing no one. But there was an undeniable presence of souls surrounding him, whispering questions of who he was, why they were there.
Oh god.

Sausage cackled at the entourage of upset souls circling around him. "No, no, I will not be changing the piston. It works perfectly. Wh- No, you can't leave-! I told you all already, you all are bound to me, until I die, or 'till I release you. Neither of which will happen soon, and you all know that. I still need you all to do things. You're stuck with me now, and I'm not moving that piston~!" He laughed again, the souls chanting something about a riot, that they had pitchforks and tridents at the ready.
Sure, maybe the soul thing had been annoying at first, but now?
Sausage wouldn't have taken his death any other way.
