Work Text:

Rosie sighed to herself as she walked down the hall of Velvette’s level of the tower. Work at the emporium had been exhausting that day. One of her employees had fallen ill. Although it was minor enough to only occupy him for a day or two, it kept him from working nonetheless. That all was only made worse by the fact that she had to run her work later than usual for an emergency with a client desperate for cannibalistic advice. Then her other clients took advantage of her kindness by all claiming they had emergencies. Needless to say, she was more than ready to be done working.

As Rosie approached the door to her lover’s triple room suite, she dug into her purse — Velvette insisted on having her use one, which came in handy since her dresses had no pockets at all — as she attempted to clear her mind of the day, and move onto her upcoming night. Her hand fruitlessly fished for her keyring.

She knew Velvette well enough to know having her own key was necessary. The Vee often locked her bedroom door and very rarely was in a place where she could unlock it should anyone come knocking. She’d much prefer filming dances for VoxTok or blasting out her headphones with music than she would keeping an ear out for the door.

Rosie unlocked the door and entered the room only a few moments later. Upon her arrival, a bundle of magenta, white, and black barreled into her before circling her legs with gentle purrs.

“Momma!” Velvette cried joyously, bumping her under the hem of her dress to give her knee a ticklish lick. “Home!”

She smiled down at her regressed lover, bending down to pull her up into her arms. “Yes, I am,” she responded, tweaking her nose. She had droopy bunny ears framing her head. Rosie adjusted the headband to keep them straight.

“Late,” she observed like she was trying her hand at admonishment. Her brows furrowed.

It was rather unsuccessful considering how cute it looked on her.

Rosie chuckled, petting the top of her head, “I am. Sorry, darlin’. Work needed me.”

Velvette frowned and grunted with disapproval.

The Victorian age demon clicked her tongue, cupping her cheek with one hand, “Now, don't give me that. Ya know I did my best to get here on time, don't ya?”

The doll demon nodded, slowly closing her eyes as the purring returned. Rosie smiled as she made her way into the next room, doing a double take at the sight of it.

Half the room was a dedicated kitchenette. It was beautiful. Dark and polished hardwood floors were underfoot, matching the wood of the cabinets. The stove and oven were glorious things. So many buttons and so many settings. The countertops were a dark shade of grey granite.

It was such a wonderful cooking area, and Rosie was sure Velvette would see that should she ever try her hand at cooking. Unfortunately, the woman was perfectly content with either ordering takeout like the other two Vees or devouring whatever Rosie or Carmilla made for dinner.

However, currently the kitchenette wasn't at its usual levels of majesty. Its contents were strewn about the room. Bags of chips, packets of nuts, and cans of food were spread all around the nearby floor. Some of the snacks had even burst upon impact, causing crumbs to cover the shiny wood.

Velvette grinned proudly up at Rosie. The cannibal sighed.

“Bunny Vel,” she gestured to the mess before putting her hand on her hip. “What's this?”

Her smile dropped while she squirmed with discomfort. “Bunny couldn't find bunny snacks,” she replied sadly.

“Bunny, I hid those for a reason,” Rosie sighed with frustration before taking a breath and smiling reassuringly. “It's okay, love. We can clean it up together.”

She perked up, “An’ then have bunny snacks?”

She reluctantly nodded, squatting to set the social media overlord down. Velvette, sniffed around momentarily before going to work nosing over the cans of food, eager for her promised treats.

Unfortunately, and to Rosie's quiet amusement, she didn't set each can up onto their flat sides. By the time Velvette had rounded up nearly all of them, they'd all rolled away again in different directins. She let out a shrill squeak, plopping down on her bum.

Rosie, glancing over from her pile of packaged carbs, let out a murmur of sympathy, “Oh, bunny. It's okay. How about I get all those cans rounded up while you clean up all these other goods? Can ya do that for me?”

Velvette perked up, raising her hind-quarters from the floor and bounding over to her, “Yes!”

The cannibal leaned down to scratch behind her ear, “Now, that's a good girl.”

She leaned in just enough to push against the touch, begging for more pets. Rosie pulled her hand back. She wiggled her index finger in the air, “Ah-ah-ah. You'll get more scritches once we've finished cleaning, but…” she glanced around in faux surprise. “I still see food everywhere.”

The smaller woman looked around before spotting a bag of chips. She dutifully hopped over to them, took a corner in her mouth, and brought it back, adding it to the preexisting pile. Rosie smiled.

“You're such a good little bunny,” she praised, bending down to pick up a can and set it upright.

“I know,” Velvette responded, her words muffled by a box of angel hair she was dragging to the pile.

Rosie laughed heartily, a hand moving just under her clavicle, “Humble too, aren't ya?”

She gave a big nod, dropping the spaghetti and trotting over to an opened bag of saltine crackers. Where it once must have had a clip to pin it shut, it was now clip-less, likely having been freed from Velvette's earlier escapade.

As she dragged it across the hardwood, a trail of saltines led right back to where the bag had been. The Victorian-age woman, having looked up and noticed, sighed, padding over to her lover. She knelt down.

“Baby bunny,” Rosie began, catching her attention by very carefully taking her face in her hands. “Momma can't help but notice how you're having some… trouble with this task.”

Velvette dropped it suddenly, looking like she may start crying at her words.

Rosie pulled her against her, stroking her back, “Oh, Bunny Vel. Don't cry. It's okay. You're little, and it can be hard to focus as much when you're not so big. I think maybe it was my bad for making you take on so much all at once. So, let's make a deal.”

The fashion designer bumped her head against her free hand, desperate for pets. She received them a moment later. “Deal?” she asked childishly.

She nodded, “Yes. I think it best to keep you little when you're little. So, when ya start feelin’ bigger, just come and tell Momma, and then we'll start to clean. For now, let's just keep you in your cute little bunny space.”

Velvette squealed in excitement, “Treats!!”

“Yes, yes,” Rosie said, running her index finger back and forth under her chin. “I can get ya some treats.”

“YAY!!” she screamed, hopping in circles. One of Rosie's void-like eyes closed in pain at the sheer volume of her cheer. Still, she mustered a smile, scooping her up into her arms.

“Cute little thing,” she cooed, petting her cheek. “You’ve been waitin’ all day for these treats, haven’t ya?”

Velvette nodded very seriously, clutching her belly, “I’ve been *really* hungry.”

Rosie chuckled, “Starvin', are ya?”

She nodded again, still stoic.

The taller demon made her way to the top cabinet where the wine glasses were kept. She opened it, pulled out a small bag of strawberry yogurt melts. The doll demon scrabbled for them, struggling to get a proper grip on them.

The cannibal laughed, holding them out of her reach while still trying to keep her balance, “Ah-ah-ah. Not yet, my love.”

Velvette pouted, jumping from her arms and onto the floor. Once she was settled there, she gave one very large, very grumpy thump, brows furrowed.

Rosie gasped, clutching her collarbone before putting the same onto her hip, tone mildly scolding, “Bunny Vel!” She mimicked the thump with a tap of her heel.

Velvette shrunk into herself, slumping her shoulders and lowering her head. Her ears hung just low enough to touch the floor.

The taller woman took a deep breath, sighed in an exhale, and knelt down, “It’s okay, dear. You’re a very impatient little one, and that’s okay, but that doesn’t mean ya can just go around thumpin’ at Momma. I need ya to give me some time, okay?”

“Okay,” the social media demon responded. She hesitated before slowly approaching Rosie again, bumping her forehead against her calf.

“Aww, baby bunny. Come here. Do ya wanna go to the couch?” she cupped her cheek, brushing her thumb back and forth in a soothing gesture.

“Couch please!” Velvette answered, nibbling her thumb. She started to tooth-purr again. She hopped her way to the corner sectional on the other side of the room.

“Can you walk, bunny?” Rosie asked, standing up and brushing off her dress. “Or do you want me to carry you?”

“Walksies!” she cried happily, clambering over to the couch. She had to dig her fingers into the side of the couch and scrabble her way up before finally throwing one leg over the edge and clambering to the top. Panting, Velvette tucked herself in the corner of the couch, opening her mouth wide for treats.

Rosie settled beside her, kissing her forehead before opening the bag of yogurt melts to pull some out before placing a couple on her expectant tongue. Velvette closed her mouth, blissfully munching on the snack while she cuddled closer.

“You’re a good bunny,” the cannibal murmured, petting down her back. She kissed her again. “Even if you’re a little demandin’ at times.”

The fashion designer grinned before opening her mouth again, waiting patiently for another treat. Rosie quickly obliged, tickling her tummy momentarily while she did.

They sat in a comforting silence while she ate, save for the soft sounds of giggles and chewing.

Soon enough, Velvette’s mouth went agape one final time, this time, in a yawn. Her eyelids drooped as she settled onto Rosie’s lap, preparing for rest. The Victorian-age woman cooed, set the yogurt melts aside, and pulled her close with a gentle tug.
