Velvette though her life was over when she moved from Britain to the so-called "Land of the Free" to find nothing. Back at home, the only thing that was waiting for her was her parents who kept forcing boys upon her and the boys themselves. She was at least hoping for a future here - one that she didn't need their approval for.
And she still found nothing.
Of course, it didn't help that the place she had best available for the move was The South, where she was stuck for at least the next four years.
When she meets her Spanish teacher, Señorita Carmine, they immediately began to butt heads. It was easy that way.
When a romance began to blossom though? Oh, that was certainly not easy.
Or: Carmilla Carmine, Velvette's new Spanish teacher, has deemed her too respectless to teach, and has taken it upon herself to fix that with a new lesson plan.

Charlie had planted herself in front of Vox and was rambling off an impressive myriad of excuses, from busted pipes to bad Wi-Fi, while he stared at her, hands on his hips, with the utmost expression of forced patience. His black, digital brows were set in a line as straight as the glower at the bottom of his screen. He does a single, slow blink, finger tapping against his hip as he debates on how much money he can reasonably make on a Charlie Morningstar-inspired white-noise machine (and whether the guaranteed customer complaints will be worth the cheap buck) when a movement over her shoulder draws his eyes.
He leans to the side, eyebrow quirking. "What's that?" Then promptly chokes on a surprised noise and shoves Charlie aside. "Holy shit, is that a human?"
Lucifer plays a prank on Alastor.
Everyone else has to deal with the consequences.

Alastor just waved his hand dismissively, and Vox instinctively fell silent, a subtle static buzzing across his screen as Alastor let the final blow land with a barking laugh.
"Lies, Vincent. I thought you knew that. I didn't realise you had become soft."

Vincent had died a brutal death, crushed and electrocuted in the heat of a baptism, and found himself in Hell, not surprising, in a body that wasn't his. He knew well that loyalties had to be taken at an arm's length and friendships had to be double guessed. So maybe it was his own fault for growing attached.OR: Vox's time in Hell, from the start to the man we know today.

Charlie squirmed under the blue light, “Do you feel any empathy at all?” She bit at him.
”Nope. Physically can’t.” Vox didn’t look up from his desk.
”Wait… what do you mean…?”
“I literally cannot express or experience sympathy.” His head swivelled to face away from her, and a panel opened, revealing an older looking device imbedded inside.
”This thing inhibits certain emotions, without it I’d be a crybaby! Kinda like you.”

She took his hand, “I believe anyone can be redeemed.” She meant it just as much as she did the first time.
