   Summary

   Donald Cragen opts to split up Elliot and Olivia's partnership during season 8 rather than allowing to remain in a professionally compromised relationship. Doing so allows them to explore what they really want from their relationship, but their tentative happiness is torn apart after a night of unprecedented violence. They are forced to explore individually and together how they can move forward, and what steps they are willing to take to get power back.
