Cass knew.
She knew when one of her siblings weren’t feeling well, knew when they were hiding something, planning something.
And Jason was planning something. She knew it wasn’t for any of her siblings, so it had to be for Percy or Alex, and Cass wanted to know what it was.
So finally, one night Cass got Jason during a slower period and asked him what was up.
Jason had sat down on the edge of the building with a heavy sigh, looking out at the city they called home.
“I… I’m planning on asking Percy to marry me,” Jason said after making sure his com was off.
Cass smiled, she liked Percy, he was a calm, quiet presence, and it’s what Jason needed.
Sure, behind the calm there was power, power Cass wasn’t sure she could figure out, but she still liked him, and whatever the power was, Jason knew about it and didn’t care.
‘You’re scared,’ Cass signed. Jason nodded, looking down at his hands. “I, I know he’ll say yes, but, a part of me is telling me he won’t, then I’ll make it awkward."
Cass hugged Jason, who leaned into the embrace.
“He loves you, he won’t say no, don’t worry about it,” Cass whispered.
Jason nodded, he knew he shouldn’t worry but he did. He didn’t want to ruin things with his partner.
‘It’ll be alright,’ Cass signed. Again, Jason just nodded.
After a few minutes of silence Cass looked at Jason.
“I’m hungry, we’re going to batburger,” Cass said, launching herself across rooftops.
Jason shook his head, following his sister off the rooftops and to the nearest batburger.
