Work Text:
Jason and Percy were going on a date. It had been a while since the two of them had spent much alone time, and don’t get them wrong, they love Alex, but they needed time for themselves.
So, when they asked Cass to watch Alex for a few hours, she quickly agreed.
Alex was old enough that they could stay home alone, but in truth? They hated it. They didn’t like being alone, even if the person was in another room, they were ok. But the moment there wasn’t anyone else in the apartment, they hated it. They still got nightmares too, and having someone there to help them helped a lot. So Cass was staying with Alex while Percy and Jason went out.
They went to a little hole in the wall restaurant in Crime Alley. The food there was great, service was very kind, and the people who frequented it knew how to get talking.
Once the couple walked in, they were led to a small booth in the corner of the restaurant and given two menus to look over.
There were many different foods, from tacos to pastas, and even some Greek dishes.
In the end, Jason chose a lasagna and Percy chose fettuccine and Alfred with crispy chicken.
The two of them talked over dinner, just lighthearted stuff, it was nice.
After dinner, they went to an untouched park. It was untouched from vandalism and rogue attacks, mainly because it was so small no one knew about it. It was dimly lit, though nice to walk around.
It wasn’t too cold out, cold enough to warrant a jacket and hat, but not a winter jacket.
The two walked a few laps around the park, hand in hand. Again just talking.
Finally, under one of the few old time street lamps that lit the park, Jason stopped their circling by standing in front of Percy.
Percy looked at his partner with a questioning look, wondering what Jason was doing.
Jason took a deep breath before taking out a little box from his pocket and got down on one knee.
“Percy, I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Would you marry me?” Jason asked. Percy looked shocked for a second before pulling Jason up and kissing him, Jason huffed out a surprised sound before kissing Percy back. Once they pulled away Percy nodded.
“I would love to spend the rest of my life with you.”
Jason smiled, sliding the ring onto Percy’s finger. It looked perfect against his tanned skin, the gold band really popping and the big blue/green gem in the center, small enough to be subtle, big enough to be recognized, matched Percy perfectly.
Percy kissed him again, muttering against his lips, "I love you.”
Jason smiled into the kiss, “love you too.”
