Chapter Text
Gardenview was a place for children and toons alike to grow and collaborate with one another. However, behind the curtains, three toons struggled with their true feelings for one another. Could they break through the barriers of traditional love, or would they be trapped?
Astro’s POV.
Astro was a galactic toon, watching and protecting over the dreams of his own friends. However, while watching, he was hoping for one thing to occur. He had had a crush on two toons, for a while. Their names were Sprout and Looey.
He loved Looey for their bright personality and being able to cheer anyone up, even though their darkest days. They were extremely caring to those around them. He’d also related to the balloon because of their share of stage fright. Astro looked up to Looey, even if Looey was just a common and he was a main.
He loved Sprout for his protectiveness and care for the others. His caring personality made Astro loom over him more frequently, loving to see his smart decisions through day-to-day life. Even when he’d do so much as remind Astro about their goal on the runs, it’d make his heart flutter.
Yet, Astro felt like he wasn’t good for either one of them. The moon toon seemed to be too fidgety and out of put compared to the other two. When he’d walk by either two of the toons, it would make his heart throb and make him wipe his hands on the soft cotton that lined the inside of his blanket.
It wasn’t till one day, everything had changed.
The moon was watching over the toon’s nighttime slumber like always, when he noticed something off. In Sprout’s dream, he’d seem to be running from something. It seemed to be…Rainbow?
The berry seemed to be cautious of the blurry blob. Astro decided to see what the issue was.
He went into the dream, black void surrounded his sight. From afar, he could see a pink dot slowly approaching, panic in his aura. Astro was worried for the berry, so he ran, and as quickly as he could towards him. Once he got closer, he could see the true fear upon Sprout’s face. But as soon as they were about to collide, Astro woke back up in his galaxy.
The dream must’ve ended.
Astro’s first instinct was to go check up on Sprout, and that he did. He gracefully teleported back to his room, the stars shining around him as he entered the room.
“Oh my… I hope Sprout is alright.”
Astro thought aloud; he genuinely thought Sprout was going thought some sort of mental health crisis. He wasn’t entirely wrong.
Astro stepped out of his room, quietly walking down the hallway as he pondered about what he could possibly be so worried about.
He made it to his doorway, the pink door staring back at him as he slowly knocked on the door. The wood made a quiet thud. Astro could hear shuffling behind the door followed behind an annoyed groan.
Sprout opened the door, his hair a mess and lightly colored dark semicircles were under his eyes. His pajamas seemed to be covered in sweat. He didn’t look too hot. Yet as soon as he saw Astro’s worried expression, he decided to straighten up.
He fixed his posture, making him look more cheerful than he actually was.
“What can I do for ya, Astro?” Sprout said.
“I saw your dream, Sprout; you okay?”
Sprouts smile faltered for a second, showing true fear before plastering it back on.
“Oh, yeah! I’m fine— just an odd dream!”
“You sure?”
“…”
Astro patted him on the shoulder, making Sprout look at that shoulder with an unreadable emotion in his eyes.
“Let me know if you need anything, okay?”
Sprout nodded before shutting the door. Astro felt calm yet something else lied in his stomach. He shook off the feeling before walking back to his room.
Sprout’s POV.
Sprout’s hands shook as he played back the conversation he had. Astro’s smile and genuine care had ignited something in the berry. He quickly shut it down, however. Something inside of him had told him the feelings he had weren’t supposed to be true.
“I can’t feel like this, it’s wrong…”
The berry told himself, tugging at his scarf as he went back to bed. But he couldn’t sleep; he just sat there, twisting and turning in his bed, replaying the memory in his head like a looping train.
He was known as an independent toon, he felt like he couldn’t be clinging onto feelings like this… Those toons made him feel a feeling he didn’t want to. It felt right, but it felt wrong.
For a moment, his brain just couldn’t comprehend all the emotions currently going through his mind. His brain fogged up, trying to figure out why he was like this.
Luckily, he fell asleep before his thoughts could get the better of him.
Looey’s POV.
The morning sun glistened on their rubber skin. They woke up, ears twitching from the pleasure of the yawn. Their sleep wasn’t the best, sleeping the wrong way on their neck.
They got up and showered, humming a tune of a song they frequently played at the circus. Then, they heard a knock on the bathroom door. It made them slip and fall, hurting their head on the shower wall.
“OH! OOPSIE LOO!” Yatta said, concerned.
“?yako ouY” Blot asked, flicking Yatta on the head.
“Sh— uh, I think…” Looey said, rubbing their head, which was swelling up.
After a dress and a quick scolding for Yatta, the trio headed to breakfast.
The three were met with Cosmo and Sprout, whacking something with a kitchen rag. The other toons stared in horror as the three stood in the door frame, concerned and confused.
“PUT IT OUT” Cosmo screeched
“IM TRYING!!” Sprout said, matching his energy.
“What’s happening, exactly?—”
“They accidentally started a fire.” Tisha said, staring with no surprise at the chaos that’s unfolding in-front of her.
“…hO” Blot whispered, stepping back.
Looey shrugged and went over to the fire. While observing👀👀 it, they realized there was a fire extinguisher in the closet. They went over and grabbed it, even thought it was double their weight. They walked calmly to the fire and used the extinguisher to put it out.
The white fumes filled the air as multiple toons coughed. Looey, Sprout, and Cosmo just stared at each other.
“I forgot about that…” They both said in unison.
Looey sighed as they went to their usual table.
“THAT went well.” Yatta said, snickering.
”When do we get our fooood?” Gorudy cried out, clearly hungry.
“So funny story..!” The two toons said, looking at the black mess on the stove.
The toons groaned as each one got up and left. Sprout looked at Looey to wait so Looey decided to stay seated.
Every toon left, leaving the two in the room. Sprout looked around and ran his fingers through his leaves, looking defeated yet glad.
“Thank you, Looey..! I forgot about that.. hah.” Sprout said, sounding a little sad. He didn’t even want to think about how pissed Sam would be.
“It’s nothing much, really! I’m just glad to help!” Looey said, his tail wagging. They had a thing for praise. Ahem…
Sprout noticed his tail wagging, which made his heart throb. Something about seeing Looey so happy made Sprout just…fuzzy on the inside. Sprout rubbed him on the head, a non-sexual expression they normally do.
”You’re so amazing, Loo…”
“Hm?”
“Oh—nothing..!”
Looey was skeptical but nonetheless brushed it off. They’d noticed Sprout had been acting weird the entire morning. He was more fidgety than normal, picking at his nails and glaring at Astro with a worried look.
The three toons were just having odd days in general, especially Sprout. Astro and Looey were both concerned about the berry.
I hope he’s alright.
