Well Rested

Summary:

Bluestreak wakes up from a restful recharge for the first time in a long time. Which is a big deal for more than one reason.

Notes:

For Lambros Week 2026, filling no specific prompt.

Work Text:

Bluestreak booted up slowly, all of his processes starting up in order with nothing feeling jumbled or like it had been running all night. He was sitting up, which was weird, but his wings didn’t hurt and he was warm and…

His optics blinked on and he realized he was staring at a solid, yellow chest.

Oh, frag his life he had fallen into recharge on his new roommate.

“Recharge well?” Sunstreaker asked as he shifted, trying to move without disturbing the other mech.

“Uh.” Bluestreak looked up with a sheepish smile. “Yeah. Sorry. Thanks for being my pillow?”

“No problem.” Sunstreaker lifted his arm, the arm that he hadn’t realized was wrapped warm and comforting around his back, so that Bluestreak could sit up all the way and then he stretched. “Seemed better than letting you have another nightmare or accidentally waking you up.”

“Oh.” No one had ever been that thoughtful toward him since he joined the army. “Thank you!”

“Sure. we probably don’t want to make a habit of it, but it wasn’t a big deal.”

“Don’t let him lie to you, Bluestreak.” Sideswipe’s voice was muffled by blankets. “He wouldn't do that for many mechs. Possibly not even me.”

Sideswipe’s words were shocking, because he had been ready to take Sunstreaker at face value and not treat it as something as special to the yellow mech as it was to him. But if it was…

“Frag off, Sides.” Sunstreaker grabbed one of Bluestreak’s pillows and threw it across the room. It hit the red mech in the head as he sat up and he collapsed back onto the mattress with a dramatic cry. “Don’t let him make it weird. It wasn’t that big a deal.”

“I think maybe it was.” Bluestreak reached out and put his hand over Sunstreaker’s. “Thank you. Again.”

Sunstreaker glanced down at their hands before sighing, in a way that sounded like acceptance. “Yeah. You’re welcome.”
