    Summary

Not long after she and Jamie return to Lallybroch from Paris, Claire gets a letter from her future self. It’s not so much a “good news/bad news” dichotomy as a “Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ” situation.

It turns out Claire’s the only one who can keep an eye on Frank and MI-6, become a surgeon, and raise a precocious daughter who is at least somewhat ready to meet her Da back in the eighteenth century when the time comes.

Because home is where the heart is, and Jamie is always both. And What Frank Knew is never as important as What Claire Decides.

Title is from Shakespeare, Sonnet 116.

A canon divergence from mid-Season 2 with a lot of romance, some espionage, some headache-inducing considerations of time travel, and a lot of Fraser Family Time once everyone’s reunited in 18th century Scotland, which happens in Chapter 4. Some book canon is in the mix where it suits me/adds character background, which I’ll flag routinely in the notes.
