Work Text:
Asano Gakushuu made it very clear to every girl he has ever turned down that he wasn't interested and even if he was, his father would never approve. In a world he said yes, the principal would hunt the girl down to the very roots of her family's existence. Well, contrary to popular belief- Gakushuu might be gay- but that means he'd hunt down the lover boy's roots. All in all, anyone who dares to date Gakuhou's son before the second year of high school is up for a rude awakening.
Another popular fact? Asano- or Akabane- he's pretty much both- Karma is dating. Again, anyone that dates an Asano son is signing up for a death sentence of a challenge. Problem? Only now, near Valen-fucking-tines day did Gakuhou find out about this relationship.
How? Well, Karma didn't even know his lover had to be trialed by his father. There was never a point where he needed to say he had a girlfriend up until today.
ASANO Karma

Asano Gakuhou
First of all, your grammar is atrocious.
Secondly, what does 'stfu' mean?
Third, you are NOT dating someone at this age, young man!

Asano Gakuhou
You're coming to my house, end of story.
Automated message: You've been blocked by this user! Either you're the ass, or you need help!
Gakuhou's blood boiled to new lengths. His phone barely survived the grip he had to vent out even the slightest of frustration.
Stifling laughs, Gakushuu was so close to snorting at the face his father was making. "What's got you so red?"
"Oh- Asan- Gakushuu, I need you to tell Karma that dating at his age is not good for him! Apparently he's been dating someone for months! How could he-" He completely ignored his son anyways!
"Father," he addressed, "with all due respect, how did you only find out now that Karma is dating? He's taken hundreds of photos of them together. By the way, they've been dating for like-" he paused, "three months?"
"THREE?! Why haven't you said anything! You knew about this behavior and yet- hold on- he doesn't share any photos of them together!" His phone clearly showed not a single photo of Karma with a partner.
It only made Gakushuu chuckle. "Yeah. To you," he answered, pulling out his own phone. "They're such a cute couple, why would I get into their business?"
Ignoring all demands to see any photo of the girl- or boy- or them? Ugh- Gakuhou doesn't understand this pronoun stuff- Gakushuu sauntered off back into his room.

Via text, Okuda's messages sent butterflies in his stomach fluttering and rejoicing. She is the embodiment on everything Karma could ever ask for as a lover.
To even have the simplest of an idea to break up with her- ugh- Karma would tell her that he's going crazy and deserves better. In his eyes she does- but that's another discussion!
Gakushuu once reminded him that their male parental figure that he refuses to truly acknowledge as a father, denies dating before college. Last year of high school pushes it- but first year of high school is like throwing it. Whatever that forbidden guy says also gets thrown out the window. A part of his loyalty is not once doubting their relationship. Each and every stranger, classmate, friend, and family could hate, but who was he to listen? Anyway, many if not all his friends like the idea of them dating. His mother's approval was the first to come!
Pacing back and forth, chanting a mantra of the same sentence, praying for once he's seeing things wrong, Gakuhou tried to work around every idea that Kunugigaoka ever planned to make him go do something so dangerous at a young age! Fights are one thing, them in bed is another! Nothing he thought would get him winding the pieces into place and solving the mystery.
What would he do with a son clueless to the dangers of dating? Only one round could turn Karma into a father! Then his father into a grandfather! According to his plans, that title was meant for his fifties- not forties!
"Gakushuu!" he called. Soon after, the stair boards started flexing as they creaked for help. Maybe it's time he renovated this place. Sounding urgent, he ushered, "I need you to tell me what to say to convince Karma to not date someone!"
His son scoffed at his own parent. "No," he curtly replied. "You're probably clueless as to what to say because nothing could make this ship bad! They're a perfect match!" Although he'd obviously say it's a lie, Gakuhou doesn't understand the term: 'ship'.
Someway, the man's head is going to blow. Maybe with a idea as a bonus. Right now, he's desperate for one, so that's allowed. ..And it did-
Once coming up with a plan, he forced Gakushuu to change. Operation: Catch Karma Before He's Gone Too Far, in action!
That title is way to fucking long, a bitch with a measly twentieth of Karma's bitching said in his head.
"Are we actually doing this?" Gakushuu smirked while questioning the idiocy of his father. "Honestly, I thought you were smarter."
Trying to focus, Gakuhou barked, "Settle down! I don't want your brother getting hurt!"
Shuu
our dad is going to break in on your little date with your girlfriend
he is forcing me along
Perfect! As the older brother, he's been perfectly ignored. By any small chance there might be in the corner of the world- and yes, even the smallest of a nook or cranny that is indeed that tiny but not invisible, Karma's laughter gets recorded and marked in a passage of time when they get there, he'll be sure that it becomes more secure than even his social media.
Gakuhou sped and somehow wasn't written a ticket. Ugh, oh how much joy would come watching him pay a fine that can't even breathe too hard on his account.
That being said, he lacked any manners the second he slammed his car so hard it looked like it was going to crumble. Top it off with knocks like he thought the people in there were hard of hearing, he almost slammed his fist into the face of the woman who opened it on him!
"EW!" she was tweaking at the site of this parasite. "Get away from my property, Asano!" Her urgency to sweep him out was clearly indicated.
"Hey, mom."
With the pull of a lever, she owned a new personality. "Oh, hey! Do I have a right to call you son? You came out of me but we're not connected!"
"How could you discuss this in front of Gakushuu?!" Mrs. Akabane was just like Karma minus the pranks. This situation was hilarious for the people snickering behind the door.
Phone out, Karma and Okuda peeped from the couch as the divorced people had a one-sided screaming match. There's the mom, who got sleepy listening to this white noise, the father, who is turning into a fresh tomato that is bright red, the older son, who is just staring in disappointment, the younger son, recording and snickering, and his girlfriend, who watches in concern but finds it all hilarious. Great scene!! Perfect for the camera!
From the corner of his eye, Gakuhou saw the couple peak from the couch then Karma semi-tackles her back into bed. Oh, the giggles. Those fucking giggles.
"KARMA! You- you allow this?! They're minors! They-"
"Huh?" She turned back and listened to the giggles. "Asano, they're not having sex. You're fucking insane."
"And how can you be so sure?"
"Uh- I don't know- maybe because they're watching Alien Stage? Asano, they're watching a show with the most toxic relationships, not one with the most horny shit ever!" She let him in far enough to watch some black hair boy stalk a greyish-green haired boy.
When she pushed her ex-husband back out, Mrs. Akabane let Gakushuu watch. "They're trying to relax and watch it together, so don't butt in," she told him then whispered, "I'm not under any legal bindings to you, so you're technically not my son at all. I can still treat as one!"
"Thanks," he replied so quickly before joining this watch party.
"Damn- get him!" Karma laughed as the blonde got absolutely pummeled.
Okuda was quite shocked. "Doesn't that mean Mizi loses?!"
"Well- I wouldn't care about losing if someone mocked your death." As Mizi got dragged away, he flipped off the TV. "Fuckass aliens dragging away peak."
"If I was in Alien Stage, which character would I be?" Okuda asked. Unlike Karma, this isn't her first time watching. Rather, only the redhead raised a brow when there was alerts that Mizi went missing.
He thought. Maybe a little too hard. Just what would his girlfriend be in Alien Stage? That's the question.
"Is there more characters?" his question was there only because he didn't want to pick a character when there was clearly a better one. Once she nodded, he placed the question on hold and moved onto the next episode.
They watched closely and saw Mizi's hair get cut down in the second. "She lowkey rocks both long and short hair."
"So?"
"Well-" the screen flashed a dead boy, a bleeding Luka smiling, and Hyuna is shocked. "..."
As upsetting as the death of a child is, Okuda couldn't help but pause and laugh at the stunned face. "You look like a cat that just got told it needs to be water."
When he stared back, his mouth wasn't functioning right. "Wha- huh?! Wh- no- a-"
"Karma, HELLO?!" Gakushuu shouted from across the kitchen. Two words sending his brother to jump from his own body.
"What the fuck? YOU'RE STILL HERE?!" Every twist Karma's been through only made Okuda cackle senseless.
Fortunately, the second he interrupted, their mom dragged him away. Something about not interacting in their business.
They moved on to the sixth round after Okuda filled in the gaps. "I swear if Ivan loses I'm calling this fan service for Till."
Then Till wins.
"I mean.." Since Ivan was the only one that seemed to have won off skill alone, he didn't really argue when the kissing came. "But why.."
Laying down in Okuda's lap, Karma was now sad with the ending of that round. "How fuck is Till going to win against Luka?! Like- even if he wanted him to win- now both of them are going to die for sure! Till is nothing against Luka!"
He sat up and played the next episode. It started with a peck on the cheek in real time. From his lovely watch partner, of course.
Just as Till reaches for Mizi, he gets shot. At that moment, Karma wasn't even surprised. "Honestly, fuck Till for still prioritizing Mizi after Ivan gave his life for him."
It ended with Hyuna and Luka seeing each other. Then they moved on to the next episode. Suddenly, it got 'serious' real quick.
Water was spat out the second it flipped to a scene with the part where Hyuna lost her leg. "Oh- shit-" At the very least, he spat it back into the cup.
Hyuna taking the bullet made Karma up-fucking-set. "Are we serious? I don't even want to see the last one."
"But the final episode is called Karma!" She only needed to say she wanted to watch it for Karma to agree anyway.
"I know my love was different from yours. But it was love too!"
Apparently, that line was what got least to Karma's head. "Pause," he said as he clicked the button mid-song- again. "You're telling me Sua not only gave her more lines, but she looked like a diva as a kid with long hair?! She also PREPARED to die. AND IT WAS A ONE POINT DIFFERENCE?!"
"..Yes?"
...
"Y'know what? I fear if I lived in that world, I'd do the same for you. Rather, I'd be Sua, Ivan, and Hyuna if you were my Mizi, Till, or Luka." His thought made Okuda blush, but he continued the show and was too invested to see.
Turns out, Till is alive!!
"Fan service," he muttered.
Okuda did like Till, but she agreed. "I feel like they only kept him alive to keep a three-three alive and dead."
"Either his neck is made of steel, or fan service." Arguing with a point agreed upon. Nothing is better than that.
"So.. thoughts on the show?"
He recollected, reflected, then said: "Four out of ten. As much as I liked the songs, the three who survived honestly are the three that should've died. They literally just got a meat shield to die for them."
Maybe that's how he saw the death part, but he didn't want to admit how much he understood dying for someone. Seeing them all die for their love was quite nice to see, and that was the form of love they sort of found normal to them in a dystopia.
He genuinely did think it was a six out of ten. Sexual assault being brushed over despite that world not knowing it was assault is not nice.
"Moving on," he started, "I have something for you."
This was the only surprise of the day for Okuda. "What is-"
A deep kiss. Not a French one, they're not going in like that. Two of the best kissers in class- ruled by the disgusting part of kissing a twenty-or-so year old teacher when you're a minor- are having the best kiss of their life.
Engrossed, Karma took that as a chance to pull out a box from under the couch as he guided the kiss into a laid-down position. Once he stopped, he had a box and a single rose in hand.
"Karma- you're so silly!" She chuckled along Karma as he blushed from how stupid the distraction was.
"Open it upstairs! My lamp has the best lighting ever!"
In no world did Manami regret her choice of who to fall in love with.
