Work Text:
Arranged marriage, arranged by whom? Masayoshi Shido. Arranged after he arranged the virgin auction which secured him his prime choice - Rin Amamiya - a girl he'd previously raped. It doesn't matter that she deceived him as to her identity. That only makes him more interested in taming her. More interested in teasing out the strange workings of her brain. More interested in seeing what she does and says next. He doesn't want to hurt her. For him, for such a spiritually blasted person, he is in love. He wants her, he wants her bad, as a possession which no one else has access to. A possession like a crown, which only one person may wear, a possession which signifies something grand and important. It's no longer even about the sex, although that aspect is extremely compelling, of course.
“Rin, Rin.” he says into her ear at the auction, while keeping hold of her hips. She makes little response. That's the drugs. He'd never admit to being afraid to stop injecting her with the sedatives. Afraid in case something changes. Why she was deceiving him, he can't understand it except to say that she wants him. Had to have more of what he gave her, although some tiny, battered part of his soul knows that's not possible, not possible in any way that is not sick and twisted and born out of desire to erase him from her mind. Maybe she finds him attractive, but what he did will always taint it. They can never have a normal relationship. Not now. Not ever, because there's something wrong with him too.
“Noxie,” he says, when she's passed back to his custody after the auction. There's an orgy going on amongst his confreres, but he doesn't care about that, not like in the old days. “You're going to be mine.” The pair sit in the back of a town car. ’Sit’ - Rin doesn’t sit, she slumps sideways and lies down, and Shido lies on top of her, an attitude taken in his efforts to help her up. It's dangerous, he has to sit up, he needs their wedding night to be as legitimate as possible, if only for his own peace of mind. If only so he doesn’t lose the bet they made. It may be a false bet, but she prodded his pride perfectly.
“Hmm…” That's all the response Rin makes, making it against his lips. She seems not to recognise him, her usually piercing eyes dull and flat. There's no one who cares about her, no one who cares about where she's gone. At least, no one who creates a blip on Shido's radar. A couple of school friends, a casual guardian who treats her atrociously, parents who never contact her. He can easily wipe her original identity and replace it with the one she invented for him. Just for him. Just to get close to him. What a thrill. At heart she's the same, it's simply the name and the way she supplicates him that changes. That she's terrified of him, that's expensive spice on the feast.
Organising a marriage is easy when you run everything. Parent’s signatures are needed - he fakes them instead of increasing her age on the fake documents. Can she even be said to have parents? No. They may exist in flesh and blood, but they haven't done their job. However, Shido wants the ceremony to be as normal as possible. He has the drug regime lightened bit by bit, until awareness returns to Rin's eyes. Held as she is in a wing of his mansion, it's tentative work to get her used to what will be her new prison.
“I know who you are. Don't worry, I'm not going to punish you for deceiving me. I find it a turn on, actually, that you would go to such lengths just to get close to me.” Shido says, crouching before the girl where she sits on the floor before a bulletproof window looking out on a beautiful Japanese garden. One day they’ll walk through there, a beautiful, perfect couple.
Rin's eyelids widen as fingers move through her hair. “Shido?’ she says, her heart pounding audibly, painfully.
“That's my name. I'm going to give it to you. Whether you like it or not.”
A clever girl, Rin licks her lips, her black eyes focusing on Shido's amber ones. She has to play a game with him, if only for her own sake. She has to play a game with every man. “You ruined me.”
The hands in her hair tighten their grip, her head yanked back so that she has to look up at the man who otherwise is shorter than she is. “Say it again.” he whispers.
“You ruined me.”
Shido's lips press to hers, but not too long and not too deeply, it's too dangerous. Can't risk ruining his own appetite. That's something Rin as ‘Neige’, taught him. That it's often better to wait.
One of the Phantom Thieves trapped inside Rin's Palace, raises a question while the cognitions smooch. Makoto perhaps, who knows both less of Rin, and less of life than most of the others. “How is this a fear, exactly? I thought Joker always wanted to get married?”
“What do you mean, Queen?!? That's Shido! Have you gone blind?!”
“Yes, but she seems somewhat…into him.”
“That's life. Love, fear, and hate are not mutually exclusive.” says a tired voice very similar to Akechi's.
Shido pulls away to romantically goad his victim some more. “And I'm going to ruin you even more. I'm going to put a little gold leash on that finger, and you'll be all mine, how do you feel about that, huh, brat.”
“You’re going to have to fight me to do it, Shido.”
“Oh yeah? I won last time, I'll win again, little vixen. It’s easy, look,” A flashy ring appears, not a wedding band, but an engagement ring. It’s lacking in elegance, but it is brutally gorgeous, Shido having gone with numerous diamonds on a platinum base. Rin, still woozy, sits on her hand, but Shido simply pushes her over and takes hold of her wrist. “I work out, and I know you haven't forgotten what happens when you cross me, dearest. I don’t want to hurt you, but I don’t mind disciplining you either, hehe.” he slips the ring onto her finger.
