Work Text:
Tango had seen Jimmy before, heck, he held up a conversation with the man, but somehow, at the beginning of Double Life something in his chest changed when he saw him for the first time after seeing him.
Tango does not know what the feeling is and ends up laying awake at night, his back to Jimmy, who is sound asleep in his own bed across the room.
After a few days of living with the feeling in his chest, a single thought passes through Tango’s mind, ‘I think I like him…No, I can’t. I’m straight. Aren't I?’ Tango thinks, standing outside the ranch, as he feeds the cows, heart fluttering as Jimmy moves behind up, throwing down some hay for them.
Tango can’t stop thinking about the realization, sick as he thinks about what it possibly means, and if it’s true, whether or not his heart is lying to his head.

Jimmy is stacking bales of hay into the barn when Tango finds him a few days later.
The blaze hybrid has given it much thought and consideration, and he thinks he’s ready to talk to his soulmate about it.
“Jimmy.” Tango says, approaching the avian.
“Yeah?” Jimmy says, throwing a hay bale up onto the stack, turning to look at Tango, taking off his work gloves, letting them disappear into his inventory.
“I need to testificate out a theory.” Tango says, cheeks dusted pink from embarrassment.
He’s really doing this, isn't he?
“...okay?” Jimmy says, raising an eyebrow in curiosity.
“I require your help.”
“How so?”
“You need to kiss me.” Tango says simply.
Jimmy stands there a little shocked, waiting for Tango to elaborate, but the blazeborn does not.
The avian licks his lips, hesitating before cupping his soulmate’s left cheek, slowly bringing them closer before closing the distance and kissing Tango.
The blaze hybrid melts into the kiss, surprising himself.
It feels amazing, like some part of himself he’s had locked away for his entire life and a key has finally been dropped into his hand, allowing him to unlock it.
When Jimmy pulls away, his cheeks are cutely dusted pink.
Tango reaches a hand up to his mouth, wiping his lower lip with his thumb, looking down at his feet, brain going a mile a minute.
He really enjoyed that.
He enjoyed kissing a boy.
He enjoyed kissing Jimmy.
“Jimmy…” Tango says, lifting his head to look up at the avian, “I like you.”
Jimmy shits from one foot to the other, “I-I thought you were straight Tango.”
“I’m…I’m bi.” Tango says, tasting the words on his tongue for the first time, they feel right.
“Oh…” Jimmy says, cheeks darkening, “I-I guess this is the part where I tell you I also like you.” Jimmy says, rubbing the back of his neck with his left hand, “I've been crushing on you since Last Life but I thought I did not have a chance with you.”
Tango swallows, clearing his throat, “J-Jimmy…Do you want to go out on a date with me?”
“Yes.”
