Chapter Text

Quackity already wasn't the biggest fan of Valentine's Day.

Couples acting more mushy and gross than usual, more publicly too, expensive gifts and candy (that he would never admit out loud are very tasty), and, of course, being painfully single.

He may not understand the appeal of Valentine's Day but he will admit part of it comes from being single. And it didn't help that his high school wouldn't shut up about this holiday. Posters advertising Candy Grams and the annual Sweetheart Dance littered the hallways and bathrooms, with paper hearts in different shades of pink and red hanging above hallways and doorways.

"Quackity~!"

Oh, and how could he forget? The biggest reason he hated this time of year.

Wilbur was even more pushy than usual, somehow even more unbearable.

Quackity sighs and slows down in the hallway to allow Wilbur to catch up. He knows better than trying to get away. He's not sure he would be able to even if he wanted to because the science wing hallway was always crowded at this time of day for some reason, so it wouldn't be easy to get away. Especially considering Wilbur's height worked to his advantage so it was better to just deal with the brunette's ramblings and then brush them off. He's not gonna let this guy make him late for a class.

"Quackity-"

"No."

"You don't even know what I'm going to say!"

"Knowing you it'll be something stupid or a flirtatious remark, I'm sure," Quackity replies back, making his annoyance evident in his tone. Wilbur simply laughs it off like it was a joke.

"You got me there! I was going to ask you on a date for Valentines Day!" Wilbur says. Quackity turns to look at him with an unimpressed expression. "Really?"

"Yes, really! Why do you act like I'm not being genuine?" He asks with a tilt of his head. "Since when are you ever genuine?" Quackity retorts. But then Wilbur's expression relaxes a bit and he suddenly doesn't look like he's joking anymore. "I'm always genuine with you."

That made the both of them stop in the hallway as Quackity looks up at him in surprise, a light blush evident on his face. His heart skips a beat at that. He's silent for a while, opening and closing his mouth repeatedly as he tries to figure out something to say.

"I-you're not being serious, right?" He asks with a laugh that comes out more nervous than anything else.

"I'm serious, Q. I just need one date."
"... You think you can just woo me with one date?"
"Absolutely!" Wilbur replies with no hesitation, smiling at Quackity with his stupidly charming smile.

Quackity huffs as he looks away, desperately trying to think of an excuse to say no (and to hide his blushing). But after a few moments of being unable to come up with a reason to not go, he sighs and looks back at Wilbur.

"... Fine. I'll go on a date with you."

Wilbur's face lights up.

"But don't get any ideas! This doesn't mean anything!" Quackity quickly adds in.

"Of course not," Wilbur replies with a smirk that showed he absolutely did not believe Quackity.

Quackity couldn't even believe himself.

Suddenly, the bell rings and Quackity notices how the hallways are almost completely empty.

"YOU MADE ME LATE, YOU IDIOT!" He shouts as he books it down the hall, ignoring Wilbur's laughter that echoes down the hall behind him.

He can't believe he said yes to that charming idiot.
