BREAKING: ‘Son of Exy’ Kevin Day Makes His Debut With The Charleston Panthers

September 12, 20XX — New Professional Exy Athlete Kevin Day officially kicks off the season as a starting striker for the Charleston Panthers.

After signing with the Charleston Panthers over the summer, Day opens his career as a vital player for the team’s starting lineup in a game against the Houston Sirens.

“I’m beyond honored to start my professional career with the Panthers,” Day says in a post-game interview. “They are an interesting team with a steadfast dynamic. I am confident in the potential of this team and the lessons they will teach me henceforth.”

With millions of Exy fans around the globe seated for Day’s professional debut, Jem Finnegan, captain of the Panthers, describes Day’s first game with them as “a bewitching sight.”

Jokingly, Finnegan comments on Day’s interview answer, “He’s being too polite! That boy’s got a whole bunch of talent in him. He’s going to help whip this team into shape. I know it.”

Exy fans note that this seems to be Day’s ‘recurring pattern’, in reference to his miraculous restoration of the Palmetto State Foxes four years ago (Read more here).

The Charleston Panthers win against the Houston Sirens with a score of 6-5. Day accounts for three points.

More about Kevin Day: Kevin Day is famously known as the Son of Exy, descendant of Kayleigh Day, the creator of the game, aided by Tetsuji Moriyama...Read more

Now Playing: PSU_FOXES_POSTGAME_SEPT20XX.mp3

Presley (Exy Daily): How do you feel about your former co-striker, Kevin Day, and his debut with the Charleston Panthers?

Neil Josten (PSU Fox): We all watched his game last week. It was a good game. Kevin’s Kevin. We all know what that means [Neil smirks].

Presley (Exy Daily): Does seeing him play with another team bring any sort of nostalgia? After all, you two were Exy’s power duo throughout all your years as a Fox. It must not be easy to lose him on the court.

Neil Josten (PSU Fox): Hmm. It’s more silent, definitely [laughs]. But to be serious, yes, it is different. Whenever I turn I expect him to catch the ball. But time moves, and I’m glad to see him settle well in the professional world.

Presley (Exy Daily): Do you have any words for him if he’s watching?

Neil Josten (PSU Fox): Nothing he won’t hear over the phone later. And yes, he’s watching. Day, we won. You owe me ten dollars.

On NEA (National Exy Association) Magazine:

THE SON OF EXY

Many wonder what it is like to be born an inherent star. There are very few people in this world who are born knowing where they stand and where to go from their mother’s womb. People search for purpose even past their formative years, end up realizing that they are in the wrong one in the middle of their journey, and some never find true purpose at all.

Meet Kevin Day, the man whose craft was gifted from the womb. His mother, Kayleigh Day, pioneered Exy, a joint project with Tetsuji Moriyama. Many would argue that a doctor’s child would not automatically opt to follow the same footsteps, but Kevin knew from a very young age who he was destined to be and what he wanted, just like his mother.

Before Kevin could properly write his own name, he was already scribbling Exy racquets on his mother’s journal. He swung his very first racquet from the moment he developed fine motor skills. He would sit and watch his mother play from a distance and knew in his mind he would eventually end up in the same shoes.

Despite the tragedy that hit Kevin’s childhood with the loss of his mother, he was undeterred, taken in by Tetsuji Moriyama to train with the Edgar Allan Ravens. There was not a day in Kevin’s life when Exy was out of reach. Exy to Kevin had become a vital sign, the success of his days based on the lengths he had gone to improve his skill.

“I have other interests, of course,” Kevin says. “I always kiss my beautiful bachelor’s degree in history goodnight before I sleep. I read tons of books, fiction or nonfiction. I’ve also recently picked up cooking, with Jean’s (former co-player as Edgar Allan Ravens) assistance. But nothing can capture the sting of Exy. I feel connected to my mother through it, in a way. I might not remember much of her anymore, but everything I do, I do in hopes of making her proud.”

People would argue that any mother with Kevin Day as her child would be proud. To this, Kevin says with a cordial laugh, “I hope so.”

Kevin’s career had not only been hit with one tragedy. The next came in the form of breaking his playing hand in a freak accident, which had all Exy fans from across the globe mourning the loss of a star.

But Kevin did not let the unforeseeable undo him. Instead, he had picked himself up, recovered at Palmetto State University, and learned to play with his right hand.

“It wasn’t easy, obviously,” Kevin says. “The exact opposite. I was a teenager with high hopes and ambitions, and I thought my broken hand had just cost me all of it. I didn’t mope for a day and got over it. In fact, I’m still rolling it over in my head. The hand still aches when I overexert myself, and I find myself wondering how much more I’d be if only I never broken it in the first place. But Exy is my life. It runs in my blood, not just my hand.”

And in his blood did it run. Kevin achieved the unbelievable; he had nearly mastered playing with his right hand before even a year into staying in Palmetto, and he was ready to be their starting striker when the next season rolled around. A lifetime’s worth of skill, learned with his non-dominant hand in a measly few months.

Kevin made the world roar during the PSU Foxes’ game against the EAU Ravens in their final match, when he switched the racquet from his right to his left and won his team the point that would change the trajectory of the PSU Foxes forever.

“It was all of us combined,” Kevin comments regarding the PSU Foxes’ astounding win, still talked about even four years later. “I’m going to be honest with you. When I first worked with the Foxes, it was all a very new start. You get what I mean. But the Foxes were full of potential, and that’s all I saw. We could be a wretched, jagged mess. But we could also be harmonized, desperate freaks. In any variation of it, our team will always be far from perfect. But we were possible. Redemption is always possible for those who bite onto it hard enough, even if they lose their teeth.”

Kevin sifted through his memories with the Foxes with a mix of fondness and playful irritation. There, he further pushed his career and achieved great feats with Neil Josten, Kevin’s co-striker, now the PSU Foxes’ captain. Exy fans say that they have never seen synchronicity quite like it; not since Kevin with Riko Moriyama, at least.

“Neil was far from good, and I wanted the best,” Kevin says. “But effort and drive are what get you there. Neil had both. I was willing to run him to the ground to make him use his full potential, and he let me. We were both drunk with our possibilities.”

Kevin Day’s protégé, as the fans would call Neil. Kevin gives a nod to this title. “That’s him.”

Kevin now made his first entry to professional Exy as a striker for the Charleston Panthers, where the team’s coach, Han Yuqi, had apparently scouted him personally. “I’m delighted to start my career with the Panthers, and with what I’ve seen so far, I expect to last a long time with them. I’m very thankful to Coach Han for giving me the opportunity, for convincing me to take it. I have been enjoying working with her and the team.”

With a stubborn passion that can burn through anything in its way, Kevin Day has nothing but the brightest future ahead of him. And as fans agree, the court perks in the presence of its son.

[A white post-it note next to it]: Bro I think we just killed Riko Moriyama

[In another’s handwriting] Who’s we? Bro’s personally involved

[In another’s handwriting] I think Palmetto State University as An Entity just Killed Riko Moriyama

[In another’s handwriting] Capitalist freak couldn’t believe his eyes. Some poor state university just won.

[A white post-it note next to it]: This is a bit insensitive

[In another’s handwriting] Nah man. Sketchy as hell Edgar Allan University. I have a theory that they offer a virgin sacrifice for their coach’s raven cane every month.

“He was with me when I needed him most. He still is, on my beck and call. I cannot thank him enough. Jeremy is the embodiment of a leader and a friend.” (1)

“He is a blessing to this sport. Truly.” (2)

On: Kevin Day (Former Teammate, Charleston Panthers)

“Kevin Day is Kevin Day. Of course he won.” (3)

On: Riko Moriyama (Former Teammate, Former Edgar Allan Ravens)

“My deepest condolences to his family.” (4)

On: Neil Josten (Palmetto State Foxes)

“You have stars in your eyes.” (both staring at Kevin Day) (5)

“Kevin invited me. It is his last game as a Fox, and I wanted to see how it went down. If they lost this, I think I would have burned this (PSU) stadium down. Anyway, Josten would have never let that happen. He’d burn this stadium down too if it did.” (6)

EXY WIKI: Jeremy Knox - New York Warriors (Striker)

| Colleagues

On: Jean Moreau (Teammate, New York Warriors)

“Jean is like an extended limb for this team, at this point. I don’t know how the Trojans were able to manage playing without him. Now that we have him, we can’t imagine it. He’s just too good. Too good.” (1)

“I’m absolutely ecstatic. We’ve been keeping this a secret, but Jean and I have been talking about signing for the same professional team for a while now, but he wasn’t sure until he was. It’s amazing. This is the happiest day of my life, honestly. To play with him is just such a dream. It’s always a good game with him on the court.” (2)

“Charismatic, isn’t he? That assist was fantastic! I have no words. None. He’s amazing as always. I’m so thankful to be able to play with him.” (3)

On: Kevin Day (Charleston Panthers)

“Kevin? As in Kevin Day? (Laughs) I only hope to talk to him! I’m a big, big, big fan! Both of him and his mother! I joined a bidding war for an Exy rulebook signed by Ms. Kayleigh herself. Just seeing him on court gives me so much thrill, man.” (4)

“We met sometime over the summer. My wonderful friend, he’s just so great. I’m actually starstruck every time. Imagine you’re an aspiring singer meeting your opera god. That’s him for me.” (5)

“(Captioned from a post) Congratulations on your professional debut, Kevin!!! You’ll do great. You always do.” (6)

On: Riko Moriyama (Former Edgar Allan Ravens)

“I don’t really know him.” (7)

On: Neil Josten (Palmetto State Foxes)

“The game was amazing. Kevin went out with a blast. The close call honestly scared us, but as Jean said, of course, Neil wasn’t going to let Kev’s game be a loss. That save was spectacular. They work as such a good pair, it’s almost like they’re neurologically linked. It’s very rare to find someone like that in Exy; someone who’s going to be able to read your mind and body language underneath all that gear. Kevin and Neil do it like they came from the same amniotic sac. Their games captivate me.” (6)

“He’s a terrific man. Believe nothing he says.” (3)

On: Kevin Day (Former Teammate, Charleston Panthers)

“During my early days as a Fox, Kevin asked me what I saw for my future. I answered that I saw him. With every mention of Exy, Kevin’s name is always just a few sentences away.” (4)
