Lucy stayed silent as she stirred her soup, occasionally looking up to the bare rafters above, as if waiting for something.
Amy bit her lip, mocking irritation. “What are you doing?” she sighed.
“Oh, just…” She pulled soup out of the bowl and let it spill back into itself off her spoon, “waiting for something to fall into my soup.”
Amy kicked her foot under the table.
“Ow! What the hell was that for?”
She leaned back in her chair, crossing her legs and calmly twirling her own spoon. “Well, I would have thrown this spoon, or maybe my bowl, but we’re in a nice restaurant. That would be bad manners,” she said pointedly, resting her chin on her hand.
“Ugh.” Lucy rolled her eyes. “You’re so Australian.”
Amy slammed her hands down on the white tablecloth. “I am not giving you attitude! You want attitude?”
“Wouldn’t kill you to have a spine sometimes,” Lucy smirked. “You know, last time we were here you tried to arrest me, miss goody-two-shoes, where’d all that thunder go?”
“Technically, that was in the back, and I did let you go, if you remember.”
She hummed and stood up from her chair. “Yes, yes, how could I forget?” She propped her elbows down on the table, closer to her girlfriend, tracing Amy’s jaw with her finger.
“What say we ditch this place and hit up that one bar? You know fancy isn’t really my style.”
“Ha!” Amy laughed, “And see scud and Janet drooling over each other? Not a chance.”
Lucy walked her fingers down, drawing her hand across Amy’s chest. “how about we just head home then? Watch a movie, talk about our future…” She trailed off.
Amy wrapped her arm around Lucy’s neck. “Kiss?”
She chucked softly, “yeah, something like that.”
