Chapter Text

He remembers how he met her, how beautiful and sparkling her eyes were when he first made contact with them. The feeling of love at first site took his breath away. He watched her, becoming more and more infatuated with every part of her being. Her voice, her laugh, her determination, her kindness; all things that made his heart skip a beat. The way she smiled at you was enough to light a fire in his heart, and he fell completely in love with her.

He remembers the nervous feeling in his stomach when he first asked her out on a date. When she agreed, the smile on his face couldn’t stay hidden. He was so happy, but also very nervous. He would apologize constantly afterwards for all the small mistakes he made. For running late meeting at their rendezvous, for not preparing an umbrella for the amount of rain it poured, for get the time wrong of the film. He never experienced a date, and he knew he had ruined the whole day. But she doesn’t seem to care when she grabbed his arm and giggled, so long as she’s by his side, she was happy. So they spent the rest of their evening running in the rain, laughs filling the streets without a care of the onlookers.

He remembers when he asked her to marry him, both of them were in tears. She has been waiting, waiting for him to ask. She said yes, and both were in laughing cheers. The embrace they held felt like it lasted years. He never wanted it to end. And when the fated day came, he was brought to tears when he saw her walking down the aisle. To see her radiance was something that struck him with awe. He took a moment to reflect on his life in that moment and he couldn’t have asked for a better person to fall in love with. She was everything to him.

All of these memories were delightful and would always bring a smile to his face when he would think about them. However, nothing could ever amount to the feeling of watching his son be brought into the world. He remembers how stressful it was to help support his wife, and how there were dangers of his child being born too fragile. His mother would worry herself sick over him, he was sure. A chuckle escaped him at the thought of it that night. Yet if he knew anything, he knew his son would make it. His son would be just like his mother, strong and be able to fight through everything. He would be as incredible as her, he knew it.

So when the hours of sitting, anxious with his leg shaking in place, finally passed and his son was born safely, he felt the biggest weight fall off his shoulders. It was such a relief that he nearly forgot what it felt like to stand, so he stumbled up to his wife who was dressed in white on the hospital bed.

“Say hello to your son, Hisashi” his wife said, in a gentle voice, exhausted from the effort of bearing the small one in her arms. She still had the same smile on her face, the one that brought him here to his new family.

He was in awe. His son, his little Izuku, was right there in front of him finally after nine months of waiting. The child was whimpering slightly, but Hisashi reached out ever so delicately to sooth him. Izuku calmed down at his touch, and he never felt such a mixture of feelings. Relief, worry, happiness, gratefulness, pride, excitement -- so many emotions packed into a few seconds, it was overwhelming.

Over all, he felt love. His love for Inko and his love for Izuku. He would never forget those freckles on his face, those gentle eyes, those puffy cheeks. He took it all in, and he was nothing but happy to have yet another person to love with all his might. He didn’t care that his tears were spilling, that his hands were shaking, that he was doing his habit of muttering under his breath. Words of thanks and love came out of his shaky voice as he held onto Inko's hand.

He would always be there, for his family, for Izuku. He would watch him grow into a good son, good man, a great hero. Through thick and thin, he would always be there for him, always by his side. Even if it meant it had to be from a distance.
