Notes:

This is the start of something I’ve been daydreaming about for quite some time, but I hope you’ll like it :D

If you do, please leave kudos, they might be the only thing that will keep this fanfic going.

I will post whenever a new chapter is written, which might range from two days to a whole month.

This is slightly inspired by Flintlocke’s fic Ori and the Faded Kingdom. Although it is unfinished I would reccomend checking it out.

That’s all, thank you and enjoy it :3

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

“What… happened here?”

Ori’s eyes are fixated on the light coming from up ahead as they weave dangerously close to the spider webs.

They are scared, yes… but determination keeps them going. This is their fourth wisp, and once they get all five they can save Ku.

But there was something wrong, they were sure.

This is too easy.

Across the Mouldwood Depths there are countless spiders, webs and bugs wishing to harm them. If the baby spiders are that big, they are scared to see what the mother is like.

They are getting close to the light, and now having a better view, they see the light encased in a thick web of eggs.

Their stomach churns, and they take a cautious look around. If the eggs are here, so is the one who laid them.

Unfortunately, in their neglect to look in the direction of the wisp, she approaches silently and swiftly.

Turning around again, Ori jolts back in fear.

They had never liked spiders, even back in Nibel, they did not take joy in being anywhere near them, but this.

This was horrifying.

They didn’t have time to get a close look at her. She instantly screams into their ear, spitting a green liquid that makes Ori’s skin burn like flames.

They are suddenly falling. The mother destroyed the ground below them, and they register this a few moments later.

They fall faster and faster, and when the ground approaches and they inevitably hit it, they break through it sending them spiraling down faster.

Mora looks down at them and screeches, giving them a farewell as they leave Niwen.

They fall into something much worse.
