“This one seems tailor made for you,” Claudia said, brandishing a file like a weapon. “Fresh admission, came in last night.”
Marta looked up over the rim of her glasses. Her coat was unbuttoned, one sleeve rolled up carelessly, her hair pulled back in a functional but imperfect way. The coffee was lukewarm, bitter, forgotten for minutes.
Claudia handed her the medical chart. Marta set down the journal and took it with one hand, still holding the cup in the other. She read the name. Then the acronym.
She read it again.
One corner of her mouth lifted slightly.“Very funny,” she murmured.
