“the most important person”

Summary:

She couldn't wait to see Enid again.

To see her smile again.

And then to take her away from everyone so she could kiss her, in private, of course.

Because no one knew about their relationship, and even if someone started to suspect or ask too many questions, they purposely avoided answering.
They wanted it that way.

OR

plans don’t go exactly as planned.

Notes:

so…this is my first fic or a sort of it.
I am Italian so I’m sorry if something is bad written but please give those chapters a chance, trust me.
All started with a dream I had where I was Wednesday and Enid was my girlfriend and most of the things I wrote come from my imagination but also from my dream.
It was so funny to write and I hope you like it!

Chapter 1: “you forgot the most important person”

Chapter Text

Nevermore had never been so crowded before.

A special event awaited its guests.

The parents of almost all the school's students were there, eager to see their children again after months, especially for such a long-awaited event.

Mr. and Mrs. Addams stepped out of their macabre black car with huge smiles on their faces, expecting Pugsley and Wednesday to be there upon their arrival.

Instead, Pugsley was the only one waiting for them.

"Son, your father and I are so happy to see you again! But...where's Wednesday?"

Wednesday had never really had a good relationship with her parents; she had always been withdrawn, especially after the death of her only old pet, Nero.

She never told her mother anything because she thought she was too pushy, and her happiness, like that of her entire family, made her sick.

There was actually one thing in particular that she didn't want to tell her parents, not because she was afraid of their reaction but because it would make them even more annoying than they already were.

“Hey Wednesday, which one do you think looks better on me?” Enid asked.

A rather pointless question for Wednesday, who thought each of her dresses was worse than the other, but somehow she didn't care...she thought she was beautiful anyway.

“I don't know, the pink one? Or maybe the blue one…”

She replied with a deadpan look, typical of Wednesday Addams, who was currently sitting on her bed reading one of her usual weird and disturbing books.

“You're not helping!I have no idea what to wear, and besides, my mother will be judging everything…”

“If your mother even tries to judge one single thing about you, I'll use some of the torture methods I've always wanted to use,” Wedns pointed out.

Enid smiled.

She knew Wednesday well enough by now to know that he almost never joked, especially when it came to her. She was the only one who saw the part of Wednesday that she said made her… weak, vulnerable.

In love.

Hours later, Wednesday couldn't avoid meeting her parents, who certainly weren't surprised by their daughter's absence upon their arrival.

But the glances Enid and Wednesday exchanged couldn't be missed, partly to make sure the other was okay and partly because...well, they couldn't stay away from each other.

Before they each went to their seats, parents with their children, Morticia called Wednesday, who was obviously looking for a way to get as far away as possible before the event began.

"Wednesday, wait."

She stopped, her back turned, her expression sullen and nervous.

She didn't turn around.

"Why don't we...talk a bit?"
She said, giving her daughter a hopeful smile.

"I have nothing to say."

"Are you sure? You look...different. Something happened, didn't it?"
Morticia had noticed the exchange of glances between the two young girls but wanted Wednesday to tell her what was happening.

To confess.

Wednesday turned and gave her an observational look, narrowing her eyes as if analyzing what her mother had said.

"Nothing happened. You can go back to Pugsley, I think he's looking for you. I'll make sure to catch up with you later, unfortunately."

Morticia barely had time to say a word before she saw her daughter walking away toward the bathroom.
She let it go.

Wednesday entered the restrooms knowing she'd find Enid there, having seen her shortly before.
The thought of seeing Enid again after meeting her parents made her heart race.

Fast.

You could almost tell she had a half-smile on her face.

"Enid!"
She called softly, unsure whether any other students were present.

"Wednesday?"
She asked, recognizing the girl's soft voice that made her feel butterflies every time she saw her.

"Shouldn't you be with your parents?" she asked.

"And you with yours... anyway, I just came to take a break from my family. They're unbearable and have already started asking all their questions."

"Oh... sure," the colorful blonde replied, trying not to show her disappointment.

She was seriously convinced he'd followed her into the bathrooms to spend some time with her before they wouldn't see each other again for hours.

"Enid... actually, I came in here to see you before the event started."

They smiled.
Or at least Enid did.
Wednesday tried to hide it.

Very close to each other.
Looking into each other's eyes.

Wednesday brought her face close to Enid's, brushing her lips against hers.

She didn't kiss her. She wanted Enid to do it.

With sudden speed, she placed her hands on the blonde's hips, pulling her even closer.

Their bodies were now touching, feeling each other's heat.
Enid smiled and kissed her immediately, knowing that this was Wednesday's intention.

A sweet, slow kiss...at least until the goth placed her hand on the blonde's cheek, deepening the kiss.

And just as they began to lose themselves in each other's mouths, they heard a loud noise from outside:music.

It was the sign that the event was about to begin and everyone had to be in their seats.

They pulled away but continued to gaze into each other's eyes, forehead to forehead.

“Enid…we have to go.”
He said, trying to regulate his now agitated breathing.

"Fine. But promise me that after the event with our parents, you'll come to the student party. And I don't want “no” as an answer."

Wednesday was very skeptical about this idea.
She preferred to stay in her room, writing her novel on her typewriter and listening to Enid laugh as she watched those stupid videos of hers about that tech.

And yet, she agreed.

"Fine..." she replied, rolling her eyes as if in annoyance. Enid always won; she couldn't say no.

It had always been that way; ever since she arrived at Nevermore, Wednesday had understood that Enid was different from the others.

That she was different when it came to that girl.

"Great! Then I'll see you later!"
She said, smiling, not having much trouble showing her happiness.

"We'll meet up with Yoko, Divina, Bianca, and the others outside..."

"Okay..."

"Oh, and by the way, I knew you came in here to see me!"
She said, smiling again.

As if to let Wednesday know she knew her well by now.
And she left.
Wednesday followed her with her eyes, remaining still where they had just shared that kiss that had warmed her heart.

She brought her fingers to his lips and smiled.
Because when no one was around, she could allow herself to let go.
She immediately regained her usual cold gaze that pushed everyone away and left the bathroom, pretending nothing had happened.

As if they hadn't just shared a kiss that had blown her mind and that she couldn't wait to repeat.

And yet she had to force herself to return to her family and witness that stupid event.

Two hours later, at the end of the event and to the sound of applause, Wednesday began to look for Enid, but she couldn't see her anywhere.

She didn't worry.

In the end, she knew that Enid was very quick to say goodbye to her family because, in fact, it was her own family who didn't want to say goodbye and treat her the way Enid deserved.
Especially her mother.

That strange feeling in her stomach didn't go unnoticed, however.

Anxiety. A bad feeling.

She swallowed that bad feeling and said goodbye to her family, or at least they said goodbye to her. She just watched them go, eager to get back to Enid and see her again.

She headed to one of the bathrooms and began touching up her makeup while waiting for the others.
Even though she was Wednesday Addams, she cared about her appearance... actually, it was only for Enid.

She wanted her to see her...pretty.

Suddenly, Bianca appeared behind her.

"Come on, Addams, we're just waiting for you...we're all out here."
The mermaid said, coming out of the bathroom and pressuring Wednesday.
She immediately tried to move as quickly as possible, adjusting her long black dress.

She couldn't wait to see Enid again.

To see her smile again.

And then to take her away from everyone so she could kiss her, in private, of course.

Because no one knew about their relationship, and even if someone started to suspect or ask too many questions, they purposely avoided answering.
They wanted it that way.

She opened the door, finally leaving the bathroom, where she found everyone except...her.
She approached the others, her brow furrowed.

Agitated.

She looked around again, but it didn't take long to realize that the happiness personified wasn't there with them at that moment.

She looked at everyone's faces. They were calm.

In fact, they were looking at her strangely.

And she understood.

She understood that it wasn't a joke.
Angrily, she turned to everyone.

"You forgot the most important person!”

The surprised look on Yoko, Divina, and the rest of the group...
She realized she'd called Enid "the most important person."

She realized she'd practically confirmed that there was something between them.
And yet, she didn't care.

Enid wasn't among them. And that wasn't normal.

She immediately turned around, anxiety starting to take over her body again.
She started looking for her.
Everywhere.

She returned to the bathrooms, but she wasn't there either.

For the first time in her life Wednesday was… scared.
