Work Text:
“Spelldon this is a terrible idea…”
they were sitting under the old willow tree out the back of the school. Hidden beneath its canopy, the soft wind brushing its long leaves through the air.
“Come on Val, it can’t be that bad.”
He watched the Vampire roll his eyes, but he didn’t exactly look mad, just concerned.
He didn’t wanna make valentine upset,
but he also really wanted to try this.
“I don’t know it I can break it myself, i’ve never tried. And You know the consequences of this if I can’t…”
Spelldon knew of course, the whole school had warned him of Valentine‘s powers the day he started hanging out with him.
“Be careful, he’ll break your heart”
Spelldon had a hard time believing them at first. That the goofy, clumsy and dramatic Kieran Valentine, was a serial heartbreaker.
It was only when Valentine himself confirmed it, that he started to believe the rumours.
The most notable being, that just one of Cupid‘s arrows wouldn’t be strong enough to break his spells.
And he wasn’t exactly scared of him for that, like he probably should be. As a witch himself he was impressed. He was the son of a minor goddess of magic and knew Eros and Cupid personally. Well, he saw them at “family” gatherings at least.
And he had never heard of anyone being able to bypass a God’s weapon like that.
And that was when Valentine was feeding off of “empty calories” as he had called it.
They had only been dating a couple months, But he had already seen how powerful Valentine’s powers were with a good energy source.
most common were his illusions, when they first started appearing he seemed to have no control over them, almost impossible to suppress them for too long.
Of course Spelldon knew how to make illusions himself, but for him they took a lot of concentration and magic, whereas Val seemed to do it as easy as breathing. a Second nature.
Spelldon had to try hard to do his magic.
Valentine had to try hard to subdue his.
And Valentine’s power just got stronger the longer they were together. As an emotional vampire he feed off the love they shared for each other.
Being able to feed off of Spells love for him, And also his own love for Spelldon.
At first Valentine was scared of feeding off of Spelldons love, didn’t wanna “siphon it all away” but he told Val it was okay, he had more than enough to share, he would make himself sick trying to eat it all.
This was proven one time when he actually did take too much and acted ditzy And love drunk the whole day.
It was super cute, but not exactly a sustainable way to live.
So they didn’t have to worry about Val taking too much if he wanted to stay coherent.
But Spelldon knew he was asking for something much more dangerous than some simple ‘love siphoning’ this time. But he just couldn’t stop being curious…
“I know, I know, trust me I’ve thought about it, …a lot.”
He had actually tried to have this conversation a couple of times, but Valentine had shut it down quickly.
…Until today.
he adjusted the way he sat to get more comfortable.
“And my conclusion is that, I trust you.” He looked his boyfriend in his bright magenta eyes. Ones that looked back at him with confusion and fear.
“…I thought you were smarter than this Spell.” he couldn’t help but laugh.
Val was right, he normally wouldn’t do something so reckless.
But his curiosity and love got the better of him. He wanted, needed to know, what it felt like.
“we have our moments, I think” he giggled thinking of their times together. sometimes they’d have brilliant ideas, other times they’d get into massive messes.
…they’d have to wait and see what direction this time would go.
He grabbed the vampire’s hand And leaned in to look at him.
“And I know you can do this, you won’t hurt me, I promise.”
Valentine met his eyes sadly, before looking down at his own lap.
“…and if I can’t? if this goes wrong, you’ll never be able to love again. At all!Not me, not your sister or mother! nothing. You’ll be numb! an empty husk…”
He gently grabbed his boyfriend’s cheek and made the vampire look at him.
“I won’t be, because you won’t let that happen.”
he watched a soft smile met his boyfriends flushed face.
“…okay,” he felt his hand get held tighter by the vampire. “Ok but just know, your mother is going to kill me if she ever finds out.”
They both took a moment to laugh their anxiety away.
Spelldon took a deep breath and sat up straighter. Looking straight ahead at his boyfriend. Preparing himself.
“Alright, whenever you’re ready.”
The vampire let out a deep breath…
and then another. You’d think he actually needed to breathe.
He held both of Spelldon’s hands tightly, seemingly more for his own comfort and reassurance than Spell’s.
And then he looked back up at him. Eyes glowing a little brighter by the second. The pink light was enchanting. Though He supposed that was the whole point.
He didn’t try and resist it. letting himself be drawn in by it.
He slowly felt all the tension he didn’t even know he had leave his muscles.
And suddenly the only thing he could focus on was the Vampire in front of him.
Once the hypnosis was complete, he took a moment to close his eyes and have a deep breath, enjoying the new sensation.
“…you okay Spell? Still feel like… yourself?” …Gods that voice was beautiful. Was it always that relaxing? Or was it just the Spell?
…probably both.
“…ya… yeah still me, just… I feel lighter? I guess…” he finally composed himself again and looked back up at Valentine.
And… wow,
He always thought his boyfriend was pretty but Wow… he really was gorgeous, wasn’t he?
He couldn’t help but smile, thinking about how lucky he was to have him. Valentine was notoriously known as one of the hottest vampires ever.
And Spelldon had him all to himself. He let himself have a lovestruck giggle.
The vampires face went from concerned to a confused smile. “what’s so funny?”
He had to take a moment to actually process what Val said.
“…you’re hot.”
He liked it when his boyfriend got flustered before but this was great, the blush brought such life to his pale face.
“Alright! You’ve had enough-“
he held up his hand to stop the vampire in his tracks. “No! …no, just let me enjoy this.” His boyfriend gave him a displeased look. “…just a little longer Val, …please?”
The vampire huffed and crossed his arms. “Find. A couple more minutes.”
“Thank you.”
He decided to lay back onto the grass, looking up at the blowing leaves around them.
He took a deep breath, Letting himself really feel the Spells effects.
He felt… calm.
Relaxed and lighter than ever, he’s sure A cloud would be jealous. He tried to tense his muscles but they didn’t seem to want to, He was too comfortable.
And his mind felt like cotton, in a good way.
The only thing he could focus on was the vampire sitting next to him.
Whenever he tried to imagine anything else, especially anything stressful. His mind immediately went back to his boyfriend. Instantly forgetting what he was trying to think about before.
And Gods it was nice.
Thinking of Valentine always makes him happy, but sometimes he couldn’t help but worry about him. Val always seemed to get himself into a new problem. Mentally or physically, he kept getting himself hurt. And of course Spelldon hated seeing his boyfriend upset.
But like this… like this he could think of Valentine all he wanted without any of the stress. And the hypnosis rewarded him whenever he did. Making him feel good anytime he thought about Val.
So he did.
He looked up at him and smiled.
looked at his bright beautiful eyes, and medium length gorgeous hair, framing his pretty blushing face.
He was probably the most handsome man ever, his reputation proved it.
But it wasn’t just that Valentine was physically attractive.
He was also Sweet and kind, …when he wasn’t following bad advice…
His care for the Animals at the shelter was enough proof. Not Many monsters would spend their free time volunteering to rehome animals that are there instinctual ‘mortal enemies.’
And of course his boyfriend was always Sweet on him, so maybe he was a bit biased…
Val was also really funny, whether he meant to be or not.
He was always so dramatic, it was cute. …when he wasn’t stressing himself out too much.
And he had powerful magic.
His boyfriend’s little heart illusions were a personal favourite of his. And Despite his clumsiness and impulsivity, Spelldon never feared for his safety around Valentine. Val would never let anything happen to him, He was sure of that. That’s why he trusted him to do this.
Valentine wasn’t perfect. Far from it actually. but he felt perfect to Spelldon. And he thought that Even before the hypnotism.
Valentine was …Valentine.
and maybe that was enough.
He loved his Valentine.
His charming, delightful, magnificent, Valentine.
…he was running out of words.
“You done yet?”
The vampire was looking down at him with a gentle smile. It was already one of his favourite sights, And the spell on him made it feel even better.
“Almost… just let me try one more thing.”
He sat up in front of his boyfriend again.
“Can I have a kiss?”
He smirked, raising an eyebrow.
The vampire’s soft pale skin turned bright red as he looked away in embarrassment at the flirting.
“…do you even have to ask?”
Val turned back and Spelldon gently cradled his boyfriend’s face, slowly closing his eyes and bringing him into a delicate kiss.
And it felt…
Wonderful.
But that was nothing new.
Kissing Valentine was always one of his favourite things to do. But the Spell made it so much better.
The hypnosis rewarded him for Loving Valentine, when the rest of the world judged him for it.
He slowly moved his hands to behind Val’s neck, gently running his fingers through his hair. He felt Val move his hands under his jacket, onto his waist. He twitched at the feelings that caused.
Valentine let him deepen the kiss, tilting his head a bit more as if he could get any closer to his boyfriend.
His lips were soft and sweet on his own, and it made him dizzy with joy. Is this how Val felt when he fed on his love?
…Gods he never wanted this to end.
But he knew it had to eventually, at least one of them had to breath.
He pulled back just enough to disconnect their lips, he leaned their foreheads together and took a deep breath. “…wow…”
The vampire seemed just as out of breath, even if he didn’t need air.
Spell looked at His flushed face, it almost went down his neck. Spell got a fuzzy feeling looking at his vampire, it was everything he ever wanted. Val then appeared to finally remember what they were actually doing. “…so…? good then?”
“…yeah, it’s great… wish I could just, stay like this forever…” he finally leaned back from Val and enjoyed the calming sensation of his stress-free body.
He couldn’t even sit straight without effort. his muscles were so weak.
He felt sleepy and giddy, and He loved it.
“Yes well, you can’t. If we let it go on too long you’ll go numb.” Val was using his serious voice again. As much as he enjoys this, His boyfriend was right…
“…yeah, I know…” probably a good idea to end this now, before he gets too addicted. He straightened himself back up. “…alright then. You can try and remove it.”
The vampire looked down worried, hands fidgeting in his lap.
“Let’s hope I can…”
They locked eyes again, And he felt Valentine’s concentrating stare deep in his soul. Like he was trying to remove the magic he originally put there.
…probably because he was.
Spelldon didn’t fight it.
As much as he liked this, he knew the consequences. So he let the magic go.
He slowly started to feel heavier again. The light buzzing feeling drifting away.
Valentine carefully pulled back, hands up cautiously, like he was ready to catch him if he fell forward or calm down a frightened animal.
“…did that, work?” Val sounded so unsure.
He did a little shake of his head and blinked his eyes awake. Trying to rid himself of the leftover fuzzy feelings.
He tried to think of things that weren’t his boyfriend and found he succeeded in doing so, his brain no longer trying to drag him back to the vampire.
“…i think so? I mean, I don’t feel, floaty anymore so, yeah?”
Val got really close to his face, staring deep at his eyes, obviously looking for traces of his magic. And when he saw none he let out a relieved sigh, relaxing again now the danger had passed. But he still looked contemplative.
Spelldon saw his concerned face and held his hand, rubbing his knuckles reassuringly.
“See, I knew you could do it.”
The vampire looked back up at him with a small soft smile, still one of favourite things to see, even without the lovesick effects of the hypnotism.
“Thanks Spell, I love you.”
He smiled back,
“I love you too, with or without a spell.”
