Chapter Text
Curlys pov:
I looked at my room for the last time, then went to the guard. I was getting out today from reform, I got my stuff and walked out of reform to see Tim’s car in the parking lot with music blasting out of it.
I walked over to the car, “What’s up loser.” Tim said with a grin, I looked back at the back seat of car. “What’s up curls.” Pony was in the back and I got in the back with him only because Angela was in the front seat next to Tim.
I shut the door a little harder than I meant to, the sound echoing behind me like the place was reminding me not to forget it. Reform school still smelled the same—clean, sharp, like bleach and bad memories. I didn’t look back again. I already gave that place enough of my time.
The sun felt different outside. Brighter. Like it was daring me to mess this up.
Tim’s car was exactly where it always was, crooked in the parking lot like he couldn’t park straight if his life depended on it. The music was blasting—something loud and fast, rattling the windows. Same old Tim. Guess some things didn’t change.
I slung my bag over my shoulder and walked over, trying not to look too eager. Tim leaned out the driver’s window, grinning like I hadn’t just spent months locked up.
“What’s up, loser.”
I snorted. “Miss me?”
“In my nightmares,” he shot back, laughing.
I glanced into the back seat.
It was a quiet ride back to the house the only thing you really heard was the radio and pony and I whispering to each other and Angela trying to listen in to our conversations. He was telling me about everything I missed like how m&m got drugs and overdosed at the old hideout, then he stopped for a minute.
“Wait what else happened why’d you stop pone what’s wrong.” I look at pony with confusion. i put my hand on his shoulder because I was scared something was like majorly wrong because he looked like he was about to explode, I looked up at Ang and Tim because I hoped they weren’t looking.
“Pone you can tell me if something is wrong seriously”. He looked at me and he looking like he was gonna cry, ”it’s almost the anniversary.” He was literally shaking “You wanna go get something and go over later?” Then he put his head on my shoulder “Yeah that would be great.
I was stocking Pony’s hair for a little bit then looked down at him and he was deep in sleep and I chuckled lightly and then looked out the window for a little. The we started driving towards downtown, then I looked at Tim, “Hey Tim can we stop at the store on the way home or should I just get it later?” He looked back at me and Pony asleep on my shoulder. “Sure we can go wanna wake up little Curtis over there, on the way to get you he was talking about seeing you the whole time he must’ve tired himself out.”
I looked out the window wonder what the hell happened in this messed up town that everyone is on edge and not telling me.
I just sighed and kept looking "nothing looked different except for the trees finally getting leaves but that was it." I just kept muttering stupid stuff under my breathe as I looked around and when Angela was busy looking at herself because when doesn't she when she's bored like girl nothin changed.
I looked over at pony's soft features and ruffled hair as he was asleep next to me and I realized this is what I've been wanted to see and happen to be for the past 6 months and my expression entirely softened.
I just stared at him for what felt like the best forever in my life then I looked away and went back to my cold expression hoping Tim and Angela didn't see me because I don't want them to think I went soft like any lovesick fool now a days.
