Vera and Vargas hadn’t seen Victor all morning. It was already 11am and he was about to miss another breakfast at camp Rayburn. Vargas decided that couldn’t happen.
Vargas walked into the Vampire cabin and went up to the room that belonged to Victor. He put his ear the door and didn’t hear anything so he figured he still must be asleep.
He knocked at the door waiting for a response. After no response within a few seconds he tried talking.
“Victor, time to wake up sleepyhead! Breakfast is almost over.” Vargas shouted. Still no response. After waiting for a minute he decided just to walk in the room.
“Okay, dude seriously it’s late, even for vamp- whoa!” He shouted the last word making Victor start to wake up.
There, in Victor’s coffin, was him and Nova practically glued to each other. Both of Victor’s hands were wrapped around her waist. One of Nova’s hands was lying on his chest.
Vargas’s jaw was dropped. After standing there for a moment he walked out saying “Oh boy, Vera has to see this.” With a smirk painted across his face.
Victor went back to sleep too tired to even think.
A few minutes later Vargas walked in with Vera, Ray, Zed, and Addison. He brought a few more people than he said he would.
Vera was the first to speak up in the stunned silence. “Well, I definitely need a picture of this.” She said with a smirk while taking out her phone and snapping a picture of the couple.
Ray was the next one to speak up. “Commander bright is going to kill Victor if he finds out about this.” He said with a worried expression on his face.
“Well then don’t tell him.” Vargas said with a shrug.
Zed smiled at them. “Wow they are totally in love.”
“I know, right!” Addison said glancing at Zed before looking back at Victor and Nova.
Vera finally took action and opened the blinds causing rays of light to appear in the room.
“Ow, my eyes!” Vargas said covering his eyes momentarily.
Vera blinked back the blinding light. It was bright for her and Vargas even though they had just been outside.
Ray spoke up again. “Wait, you guys sleep in coffins?” He asked.
Vargas look over to Ray with a strange expression on his face. “What are coffins? These are clearly beds.” Vargas explained to the Daywalker
Ray mirrored the same expression as Vargas. “Those are not beds.” He gestured to the coffins.
Vargas scoffed and rolled his eyes. “Yes they are!” He said trying to prove his point.
“Both of you, shut up.” Vera said looking between the two teenagers.
Ray and Vargas glanced at each other before obeying to Vera’s command.
Vera walked over to Victor and Nova and shook Victor’s shoulder hard attempting to finally wake up him.
“Come on sleepyheads! Hurry up.” Vera said.
Victor slowly opened his eyes before using the hand that was free to cover his eyes.
“Ugh it’s so bright and loud in here.” He said, clearly not realizing the elephant in the room.
Victor took in his surroundings and realization hit him like a brick. He saw Nova curled up to him still sleeping and his face went pale.
Vera clearly noticed because she just laughed before saying. “Did you guys have fun last night?”
Victor sat up slowly waking Nova up. He rubbed her arm. “Nova, wake up.” He said softly.
Nova slowly woke up blinking a few times before her eyes landed on the group of teenagers standing in front of her. She turned to the side. Victor. In the same bed. Had they fallen asleep?
Nova quickly sat up realizing where she was. She quickly got to her feet standing up. “This,” she started pointing between herself and Victor. “Is not what it looks like. At all.” She explained to the three of them.
Victor was still sitting in bed before finally standing next to Nova.
“Exactly.” He said. This wasn’t- we weren’t…doing anything.” He explained stumbling over his words.
Vera smirked. “You sure?” She asked to the both of them.
“Yes.” Nova said blushing furiously.
“Then what were you guys doing?” Ray asked raising an eyebrow.
Nova looked at Victor for a brief moment before looking back at the group. “We were watching a movie.” She explained. She did not want anyone to get the wrong idea.
Vera smirked. “You sure?” She questioned, clearly having fun.
“Yes. Very sure.” Victor said looking at nova a second before looking back at the group.
“Whatever you say, man” Vargas said. “Come on guys, let’s give them space.” He paused turning back to Victor and Nova. “Don’t miss breakfast you two.” He said glancing at the both of them before walking out of the cabin with the rest of the group.
Once everyone was out, Victor shut his door. He exhaled. “Nova, as much as I like cuddling with you, we definitely can’t sleep in each other beds in case anyone sees.” He said with a smile while taking her hand. “We’re just lucky it was our friends and not someone else who would probably tell our parents.”
Nova put a hand over her face. “Ugh I didn’t even think of that, sorry for falling asleep.” She paused looking at Victor while a smile broke through.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and just as quickly his hands found her waist. She pretended to role her eyes. “If only dating a vampire wasn’t so difficult.” She sighed while trying not to smile.
Victor was surprised for a second then a sly grin appeared on his face. “Yeah, but I know you love me, baby.” He said waiting for Nova’s reaction.
Nova was surprised at the adorable nickname. She whispered “definitely call me that more often.” Before leaning in and giving him a kiss.
She pulled away clearing leaving Victor wanting more.
“I love to kiss you, but we are about to miss breakfast. I still have to wait a few seconds until you walk out so it won’t look suspicious that we walk into the dining hall together.”
“Okay, bye for now Nova, I love you.” Victor said while giving her another quick kiss.
“I love you too, Victor.” She said before quickly walking out of the vampire cabin making sure not to get noticed by anyone.
Nova walked into the dinning hall almost a minute after she saw Victor sit down, being cautious so no one suspected anything.
She quickly got her food and sat next to Ray where the rest of the Daywalkers were sitting.
She started quietly eating her food, minding her business when she noticed Ray smirking at her.
She set her fork down and turned to him. “What, Ray?”
“Oh, I don’t know…maybe catching you in a vampires bed.” He said with a sly grin and a little too loud.
Nova fully faced him now, giving him a murderous look. “Ray! Shut up! We are in public, idiot.” She whisper shouted.
“Sorry, Nova.” He said with a smile. “I just can’t believe you’re dating a vampire.” He whispered raising his eyebrows.
Nova almost blushed and turned back around to face her food. “Honestly me neither.” She said finishing her breakfast.
Across the dining hall, Victor sat with Vera and Vargas. Victor had just sat down and started eating his breakfast and he immediately felt Vargas’ and Vera’s stares.
Victor put his fork down sighing. “Anything you’d like to say?” He questioned, eyes switching between the two friends.
Vera and Vargas quickly glanced at each other then back at Victor. “Nothing.” She paused. “Just that a Daywalker, specifically the leaders daughter somehow ended up in your bed.”
Vargas chuckled before adding on, “Yeah you guys were clinging to each other like bats.”
Victor leaned on the table getting closer to the two vampires. “Keep your voices down.” He warned, shooting them both glares with a hint of red in his irises.
Vera and Vargas leaned closer. Vera scoffed. “You’re totally in love with a Daywalker.” She whispered
Victor’s face turned bright red. “What? You’re crazy, I am not in love with a Daywalker.”
Vargas raised his eyebrows. “Whatever you say, man.” He said while smiling.
Victor just rolled his eyes and continued to eat his breakfast. The truth was he was head over heels for Nova, he just didn’t want to admit to being in love with a Daywalker.
